For the record, I don't sell diamonds. Thing is, if you are looking for a diamond alternative, I openly recommend buying a CZ over an overpriced moissanite. They look much better and are closer to the performance of diamonds. On top of that, CZs are MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper than diamonds. And before you say it, I don't sell CZs either.
Appearance and costs. It's for practicality reasons if people are looking specifically for a diamond alternative. CZ is the closest you get in performance and appearance. Moissanite takes on a completely different look because of their doubly refractive index and they costs 40-50 times more.
CZ is not a proper diamond alternative though because it does not last. Within a couple years CZs will already begin to show significant signs of wear (cloudy/scratches), hence why it is so cheap.
And you think moissanite doesn't scratch up easily? For the record I own all 3 types of stones and it largely depends on what the consumer wants the piece of jewelry for. With CZ, they are cheap enough to use and throw. If someone doesn't apply common sense in taking care of wearing the jewelry, then it doesn't matter if they are wearing a moissanite or CZ, both will end up in the conditions you mention. Even diamonds can abrade or chip with abusive wear.
Here’s a thought. Don’t use a diamond twice the size with a diamond band. Was it too hard for you to get equal stones? This is a horrible comparison and a really bad video
This thanks to the De Beers and their aggressive advertising campaigns in 30s and 40s. Even diamonds should not be as costly for real as they became because of this artificial creation of a mindset that diamonds are irreplaceable and the most precious thing in the world. They should be boycotted, so their price would return to normal - at least in honour of all those people that were tortured and died in "diamond fields".
It’s funny you say that because an Ideal cut diamond does not need light to shine anywhere other than the table (the square facet on the top of the diamond) for it to perform beautifully. That’s why there are many bezel settings for diamonds that cover the pavilion of the stone & they still perform the same.
Completely agree with the majority of the comments. Moissanite was so much better than the diamond. BTW belittling the moissy as a cz goes to show your biased opinion.
That's actually a flat out lie. Diamond is all carbon and attracts dirt and grime far more than moissanite (Silicon Carbide). Keep your overpriced carbon.
I noticed that the diamond was hearts and arrows, this is not a fair comparison. Compare a hearts and arrows D color moissanite and a diamond...then we can judge. Most diamonds are poorly cut.
First the video says it moissianite. Then the video says it CZ ( cubic zirconia) Moissianite is not CZ. Completely different. Moissianite is a gemstone. CZ is not. Moissianite is 9.25 on Mohs scale for hardness. A real diamond is a 10. Real Moissianite will not scratch. CZ will.
" if you cannot afford a daimond" GTFO How about not wanting to support destroying the Earth for a blood daimond? Also, your comments do not match up with the reality of what we're all seeing; there really is not much of a difference that anyone can tell with the naked eye.
I have to agree with other commenters, your comments about the diamond being better do not match up with the performance on the video. The moissanite definitely beats the diamond in fire and brilliance.
The differences in fire is something that is debatable in strong spotlighting. However, with brilliance, the well cut diamond is hands down the winner. Hint*: look at the amount of dark and lifeless areas in the moissanite. Well cut gemstones return light to the viewer's eyes to make them look brighter.
So basically what you are saying is that if you have a well cut mossinate then it will out perform a diamond? or so close that you really can't tell? I can tell a little bit if I continue to watch your hand movement in the video, but I have seem a few videos now and it is really hard to tell. It took the repetitive movement to really tell any difference. You use a lot of mitigating words in your video, it makes me think that if I get a well cut mossy then I will never tell the difference.
He compares a excellent cut hearts and arrows diamond to a lousy cut mossanite, hardly a fair comparison. There are very good cut mosasanites out there that will rival the bulk of the diamonds out there in the jewelry industry and for a tenth of the cost or less, it's a no brainer.
@@leeleelv diamonds keep their value if you get certified stones. if you have GIA certificate you know exactly what stone you have bought and you can sell it in the future and get even more money than what you have spent. if you don't have certificate, first of all you can't be sure what you have bought in the first place...
@@leeleelv I actually try to sell my dianmonds immediately after i buy them. The pawn stores would give all my money back minus a 6-7%. If i list them online and try to sell them to another individual from another country through ebay, amazon etc i would end up with a profit. So, yeah diamonds keep their value. If you see a big difference you didn't buy them close to wholesale price, sorry. Also, a 6.01 brilliand diamond is not so common to find one. If you are telingl the truth and you own one you probably paid for it about 350.000 euros, but i could find one about 195.000 euros....I am talking about vvs xxx G or better.
@@ryanmiller8459 I believe the cost to purchase an identical setting and pay someone to set it would exceed the cost of the Moissanite so might not be worth it. He should have used a loose diamond for this video perhaps.
Even with having a bigger diamond in a nicer setting vs a smaller moissanite in a bad setting, the smaller moissanite still outperformed the diamond. Your bias is super obvious and is not helpful for those who want a true comparison. Much better videos out there that leave the bias at the door.
Wtf? He says it's moissanite, then at one point calls it a cubic zirconia. Which is it? Moissanite and CZ are NOT the same. Moissanite are nearly as hard as diamond and are not porous. He doesn't compare the same sizes in similar settings. The moissanite is smaller. No mention of what cut/clarity he used for either. It's obvious he got the lowest grade, poorest cut/ clarity moissanite he could find to compare to a high quality diamond. Even doing that, the moissanite still looks amazing. I think in setting out to show how "bad" moissanite is compared to diamond, he accidentally showed that even the poorest quality moissanite looks amazing and is nearly indistinguishable from the diamond, perhaps even better looking in some aspects like the fire, and at just 1/10 the cost too. So, thanks. :-)
The Moissanite and the Diamond are NOT the same Carat, Cut or in the same Setting! Someone please do an unbiased optical comparison! This video is an unacceptable attempt and has no true merit.
Well, that's precisely what is happening in real life. Due to moissanite's double reflective index, they are NEVER cut to the same kind of standards as diamond. This is a typical moissanite you will find from Charles and Colvard and one that is relatively on the high end. If this isn't reflective of a real life example, tell me, what is. As for diamonds, this is a well cut diamond and yes, again, this isn't the majority of the junk diamonds you find in the market. So, I'm comparing a top end diamond cut quality against a supposedly top end cut quality moissanite.
@@Beyond4Cs they aren't the same setting though. Stop ignoring that, the setting can totally affect its appearance. Do a loose stone comparison of both if you don't want to be called a liar and shady.
At 3.29 seconds you compared “your diamond” to a “cz”...when in actuality, a Moissanite is nOt a cz...! I myself preferred the left over the right.... Nice try though, belittling the stone competing with, & obviously beating the stone you peddle.. Video did nOt help your cause..
My moissanite ring cost more than my diamond wedding set. And my moissanite has way more sparkle and brilliance and moissanite is NOT some crappy CZ Stone. This was a terrible comparison video.
At this point I have ask. . . Are these two different grades of diamonds cause your credibility sucks! Or perhaps like you disclosed a CZ??? Cause a CZ and Mossabite are NOT the same!!
Clearly this is a bias video. The comparisons were unequally yoked. You presented a fully set diamond ring, and compared it an unset smaller carat moisannite.....How is that fair? The clarity of the moisannite was equal to, if not BETTER than that of the diamond, and the stone is JUST as durable.....You tried it....lol
Ummm what metal is the moissanite in? And not same prong setting which will have something to do with light passing thru the stone. Not comparing apples to apples setting wise - not impressed!
I really love the fire and brilliance of Moissanite! The only way I would say a diamond "out performs" is if you're looking for a diamond. I love Moissanite for it's unique rainbow sparkle and different appearances in different lighting. Way more interesting and unique than a diamond!
This video would have been more effective had you used the same size & cut stones in the EXACT same rings/settings. That way we'd get an accurate comparison.
You should have used a moissy in a brilliant cut and similar size to the diamond so it was a fair comparison but even in this the moissy wins. The fire alone in a moissanite outshines diamonds any day of the week
At least compare stones of comparable cut! I am a fan of both diamonds and moissanite, but they do have different visual qualities, which can only be properly compared if both stones have the same cut. These stones are very obviously not the same cut.
Moissanite for the win! I just purchased my gf stud earrings. Those things are like disco balls in her ear. The earrings are brilliant hearts and arrow cut and they are popping! 1 of the most important comparisons is price! How convenient he left that out. Not even close price wise.
That ridiculously hideous setting isn't doing the moissanite any favors but even that being said, if the stone were cut in the same way it would be just as beautiful. You can get a moissanite cut exactly like any diamond. You just chose to use two different cut stones.
Not enough difference to make a difference in the hardness, and Mossanite is much more heat tolerant. Diamonds are great but only if grown in a lab, otherwise to get one that is nearly colorless and without inclusions will cost as much as car.
They are found in meteorites but those are too small to use in jewelry. So they recreate them in a lab. However they are not a cubic zirconia. That’s a totally different man made stone. Moissanite won in this video. I actually felt bad for the guy.
@Perfect Diamond you forgot to mention the weight. I did my research on this moseinate diamonds and they do not impress me at all, especially on the weight and nobody seems to answer me if they are heat treated. Even real diamonds if they are heat treated I will stay away.
At one point you call it a CZ. Freudian slip? This is a diamond seller, who doesn’t want you to buy Moissanite. It is a CZ in this video. Not a Moissanite.
Uhhhh..... why are you engaged to two different people? Or, why did your fiancée buy you two engagement rings? Or, were you engaged to someone else, broke up with them and refused to give the ring back? haha . Just curious.
@@mysticalstone3680 I have 2 engagement rings over the course of two years. Three if you count the one I lost but my engagement rings expire a year after proposal. One diamond, one cz, and one moissanite. The moissy is the one I was most excited about.
Probably because the quality and cut grade of your diamond ring is shit. Spend more money on a nicer stone 🤷🏽♂️ besides. Real is better than fake shit 10 times over. They like that “moissanite” all the way up until you tell them it’s fake af and lab grown and not made my Mother Nature!
@@iMPushyyy Moissonite isn't a "fake" diamond. It's a quality stone in it's own right. Only a person brainwashed(by diamond companies) to believe diamonds are really worth what you pay for would see them as a fake diamond. FYI, like cars, diamond's value depreciate over time, unlike gold or silver. You're better off spending less on a Moissonite ring and invest the money you saved into gold or silver for the future.
@@iMPushyyy hahahaha people who owns diamonds and paid ridiculously overpriced prices are sooooo butt hurt that moissanite gets more complements than their "real" diamonds, they just can't stand it, hehehehe
moissnites are AS irresistible as diamonds. such gorgeous stones...can't help it. I own two moissanites and want to own lab grown diamond. I feel ridiculous though owning 2 moissanite engagement rigns and now a lab grown one. how wil and when will I wear them all. im such an idiot.
@@ExquisiteCitizen The light is not focused on one side. This comparison is performed under a normal tube of light where EACH ring gets the SAME amount of light and are placed at the SAME distance from the light source. It may look like the light source is different but it isn't. It's because of the difference in cut quality.
lol you must work for de beers.. you lost a lot of perceived credibility when you called moisanite cubic zirconia (cz) at the end. is that to clump all diamond alternatives into one common name? stones deserve their own exclusive identity, Paul.. especially moisanite, which in my opinion is much more practical and beautiful.
I noticed that the moissanite was mounted in a different ring. How much does that impact the performance here? Would it be different if both stones were mounted on the same ring? I'd actually go for a moissanite or a white sapphire over a diamond, no doubts.
At three minutes & twenty six seconds into the video “Observe How the Diamond facets light up in a lively manner in contrast to the CZ” was posted on the top of the screen. Moissanite isn’t a CZ. It’s Silicone Carbide not Cubic Zirconia aka Zirconium. This guy has no clue about what he’s posted. He’s mislead viewers attempting to make a sale. Yo! Go do some real research before making yourself look foolish to those who actually know.
You're comparing different cuts...... that's like a flawless perfect diamond with excellent cut. That is basically a $15k+ diamond you're comparing to a $800 moissanite ROFL
The setting on the moissanite isn’t the same and doesn’t let the light in. Have the stones in the same setting and then I will have an objective comparison.
Setting does not effect the performance of an Ideal cut diamond. Ideal cut diamonds do not need light to reach the pavilion or girdle for maximum performance. The diamond would shine that much even if it was in a bezel setting.
That wasn't a fair test. The diàmond ring had smaller, pave diamonds in the band which also caught the light. But as far as lab grown gems - they're a big con on the ignorant jewelry buying public. They should be banned from using the gem they look like in their name, which is probably why moissonites don't dare call themselves or include the word in their name diamonds = Lawsuits
Ideal cut diamonds do not need more light on the bottom of the stone to perform well. They only need light through the square shaped facet on the top of the diamond. This diamond would sparkle regardless of setting & whether the ring had pave or not.
I got my GF a moissanite ring and even when it has oil and smudges on it, the center stone dances sooo much. Even at night time and low light it sparkles rediculously.
Moissanites are precision cut and appraised as excellent cuts. Where most diamonds are not. The diamond is cut a little thick to standards visually. Without the actual certificate to confirm that it is only based on visual experience.
I decorate my pedicure with moissanites, I wouldn’t do that with my diamonds, that’s the difference, their Value and scarcity, moissanites are made in a lab by ugly machines and poor men, diamonds are made by a Planet, diamonds are precious and moissanites are not. I wear moissanite freely but I Care for my diamonds. And I absolutely can’t stand 95% of folk in comments here that are so full of shit they shouldn’t be given keyboards 😂
"The Diamond has better performance!" He said after I went blind with that Moissanite's sparkle. And it's not even a good Moissanite. I'm more prone to believe that this video is a spoof of all the Diamond aficionados desperate to downgrade Moissanite instead of an actual expert's imput. I mean, not only does the diamond look slightly bigger, you're also placing it slightly closer to the camera (trying to get more sparkle?) and still, the Moissanite is looking better.
Saved $15k USD by going with a moissanite, the money will be going into a 4-month vacation around the world with the wife. I will never buy a diamond ever again.
All these broke people in the comments 🙄 I suggest sticking with diamond content only as they must be annoying, making separate videos for moissanite and telling them all to go buy a diamond for their own little comparison 😂
The settings are different and cannot be comparable. You have one set in a dark setting the other in a light setting. This look more like a sales pitch for diamonds then it looks like and honest comparison.
His hand motions and the background music are hypnotizing, while everything in the captions of this video is biased and aimed to favour a diamond, meaning they’re creating an impression that the diamond is far better but it’s not
This is not a fair comparison because the diamond is set close to the metal which gives it some whiteness and closer mirroring /reflection, while the moissanite is set far from the metal in back of it which could explain the dark shadow in the middle. I have moissanites and diamonds. Moissanites are better looking than diamonds imo. Diamonds are overrated and overpriced. The worst part is the deaths, assaults and politics attached to diamonds.
This is a weird comparison that comes off as setup and biased against moissanites. The Diamond had a better setting in its ring with a significantly larger carot and difference in cut. Given the same care and manufacturing of the gemstone moissanites tend to out perform diamonds pretty consistently and that fact the video pitted a higher end diamond against a lower end moissanite and the comments are favoring the moissanite kind of goes to show that diamond dealers have a bias based on their own margin.
Thanks for video, but comparing should be more objective, the sizes of stones should be identical at first, the diamond cut as you said is precise fine, take the moissanite super fine cut too, it's at second. The third moissanite also can be colorless, but it is much more expensive than cheap casual moissanite. Then the comparison will be more objective. Of course the diamond is diamond, but for many people important thing is price. And they should be happy to wear quality made jewelery with moissanite. Thanks
The appearance of moissanite has to be better. 1. The refractive index of moissanite is higher than it of diamond, so the Fresnel reflection of moissanite is higher (surface of moissnite reflects more light). 2. The dispersion of moissanite is higher than it of diamond, so the color of the reflected and refracted light from moissante is more beautiful (slightly rainbow like color) than diamond.
