I like to think they intentionally made it for the binge watchers, so they wouldn't have constant 1:30 interruptions at the beginning and end, but only when it would fit and not interrupt anything.

The saddest part is that subaru could grow as a person without all the suffering. Tappei said that Subaru's parents would help him with his depression and his father would've got him a job that he loves

@Mally i even like subaru during episode 13-17 because he felt real. He wasn’t instantly some great hero. He was a dumb teenager, and he matured for the right reasons. I know people cringe during that time but its still fucking phenomenal writing. What other shows would make their mc such a dickhead? At least right after they made him likable

Despite its good writing (at times) I just fucking hate most of the characters. Especially the girls and Rudy. Rudy is just a horrible character. His past isn’t relatable (bullying never fucking gets that bad) nor did he have any redeeming qualities. I understand he gets better, which is barely even true because Ive read the novels. It still feels like an escapist power fantasy story

I was rewatching some episodes and it dawned on me that Subaru thought of this world as a video game until episode 13 where he does things wrong and when his little generic MC act doesn't play out as he expected and has the little fight with Emilia, it's like he's saying "Why do the NPC's don't do things as they should?" in his mind. Then you get episode 15 where... Well... He learns how things will go from now on.

Even in the first 12 episodes, you can see Subaru act sorta perverted and kinda dickish. Theres also the fact that some of his intentions WERE earnest. Yea he treated Emilia like a waifu sometimes, but he still cared about her and others. He has many different sides to him, and his motivation for things is complex. Thats how real people are. Btw idk if you were around when those episodes aired but they were probably the most controversial scenes in anime ive ever seen. Weebs were more angry at Subaru acting like that than they were at fucking Redo of a Healer lmao. Funny because Subaru is more like the average anime fan compared to most MCs

I Love re zero but I have a unpopular opinion. My unpopular opinion is that I think season 1 is a bit better than season 2. Agreed. When I initially heard of the hype around it, I thought that it was going to be actually worse than what the people were saying. Not only was I proven wrong, but this series exceeded my expectations as well. At times, it succeeded the hype around it in my opinion. This series proved my wrong, like how Subaru proves a lot of people wrong (even himself).

Now I just find the haters as clowns. I mean disliking is one thing, but hating on a masterpiece and failing to give reasons is bullshit. I won't take a rookie club tennis player harshly criticizing Roger Federer seriously. So these haters are there to be ignored. 90% of them are just there for the attention, honestly speaking. Finding it boring or not understandable is the deficiency of the viewer. Not a SINGLE one of them can find the actual flaws in the show. Yeah I saw a Reddit post about that, it would really explain what Rem said at the beginning of the season. I saw a lot of people confused why she sees him as such a hero, but they fail to realize that she has seen him in an almost entirely positive light the entire time she knew him. Like yeah there was his fight with Emilia, but she wasn't there to see that, so otherwise all she sees of him is a badass that obliterated the White Whale and rescued kids from Mabeasts without showing any fear.

I think someone did a cut of the show where they only include the successful loops and it’s really interesting to witness from an outsiders perspective

@@lucas_h WITH showing fear mind you, that's even more impressive in her eyes, how he was terrified to the point of shaking but was still fully planning to run into that forest to save the children. Its not any surprise that rem adores him so much. From her perspective, he saves the children, goes back to save her when she's gone absolutely nuts in the forest, ran off to distract the mabeasts for her, and then survived and managed to tell her exactly what she needed, when she needed it. And then when he finally almost snaps, she's able to get his fighting spirit back, where he then manages to bring down the white whale with her and the army.

And i love the characters in general. It isnt character development , but when Subaru repeats the day a thousand times over , you see how they react differently in different situations. No ones "bad" (except that bowel lady ) or good , they have their own priorities and we can really see the different sides of characters . Fucking great show

i can see why they did it cuz ram had like no screen time last season i just finished it and at the end when the credits rolled i yelled: "REM NOOOOOO" inside lmao

It wasn't 100% in the moist because there are more to the story and it's not finished yet. But yeah, the extended almost 30 minute episodes are just a pleasure and you can really feel the passion put into the show. The story is unpredictable, and even when the op will play is also unpredictable for the extra minutes, which is crazy.

Gold standard that any other Isekai has never even tried approaching.

S2 is boring

@@annedrieck7316 I think that’s pretty subjective, if you find character development, backstory, and world building boring then thats fair enough. But just because you might find it boring doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate the work put into it, which they clearly did. It isn’t a show that’s made to wow you with it’s fight scenes and action, it’s a show with made with much deeper intentions and that much is obvious simply looking at how this season was solely focused on developing our main cast. Each character feels like a character and fully fleshed out, not some one dimensional trope.

There was also Mushoku Tensei this season.

@@davul01 I don’t even think it’s the approach, it’s the content that they put in. Most isekai are escape from reality wish fulfillment, and that really isn’t the case here. Our MC is a pretty uninspiring, underpowered, and flawed yet kind hearted person. Seeing their growth in a world completely alien from their own and watching them struggle and fuck up because of their own shortcomings is really satisfying as a viewer and almost relatable.

From what they've done with the anime so far I've got my hopes up pretty high. Though it's unfortunate they've got to cut out so much.

@@blupuncakes8458 They tried with the extended running time but the material is very long, still very little was missing compare to season 1. Season 3 it's gonna be easier, it's shorter and faster paced.

@@blupuncakes8458 arc 4 was just too huge to just put all the content in it. arc 5 and 6 are shorter (chapter wise) so they can fit more content and can dedicate more time to other stuff as well but i do love the arcs in rezero no doubt about it

Normally Season 2 is better but in anime version if they don't cut anything and do it in high-budget yes Season 3 will surpass it.

Man you should read bad reviews about re zero, you are going to laugh so hard I guarantee you. People that hate on it usually like nonstop fights with dumb excuses ( I like Shonen tho) and then there’s people complaining about dialogue and backstories when that’s what the show really is about

I have really unpopular opinion. My unpopular opinion is that I like season 1 more than season 2. Dont get me wrong season 2 was fucking cool but I think I like season 1 just a bit more. Oh and also it isnt because of Rem. I do love Rem she is my waifu but like I dont like season 1 more because of Rem I just like season 1 more

@@juicy446 Its kinda hard to believe that when half your comment is arguing the fact it isn't because of Rem. 🤣. lol, but I i guess I tend to love more character development parts of story more than anything else. Along with that though, story progression and payoff (from season 1 build up) was astounding. For example Clannad vs Clannad: After Story.

@@Alyce-Donut I respect that and I like season 1 just a bit more because of the characters like jullius, felix, willhelm, cruche, Reinhardt, and more. And I really love the ending of season 1 although I do love the ending of season 2 more but season 1 ending was still great. My favorite parts from season 1 were from when Subaru, Rem, Emilia, and Roswaal went to the city. I really liked that part and when Subaru acknowledges his flaws straight up gave me chills. But hey that's just my opinion but I still really like season 2 too but I just like season 1 just a bit more

@@Alyce-Donut although the ending of season 2 was absolutely perfect and the fight between garfiel and elsa was absolutely astonishing. I really liked the fight between them and the way Subaru talked to Beatrice in the end was really sad and adorable

@@juicy446 The part of season 1 that sticks with me the most was when Emilia to Subaru that she wanted nothing to do with him after getting beat in the dual. My heart sank at that part. I think both seasons are really good in different ways. The first thing that stuck with me in season 2 was when Subaru finally had someone "Echidona" recognize his struggle.

Subaru behaves in a selfish and entitled way while making very bad decisions. Which are understandable when you consider he can't tell anyone what he's done for them

Re:Zero is about telling a young person like Subaru that they can show their feelings, it's okay to hate yourself, and it's okay that you made mistakes. Just because you're not such a good person right now doesn't mean you can't improve and become an amazing person. Your journey of self-growth does not need to be alone like you think you are. You can make friends and hell, you can also get romantic if you can start loving yourself a little more. But no, "mAlE pOWer fAnTasy". It's not a story that only pertains to males because I'm pretty sure MANY people can relate to struggles of self-worth, loneliness, having depression, etc. Sure I think in Japan's society, it is targeted towards males, but the messages of the story are pretty universal.
