Mojang: The Bedrock Community Would Like A Word… 

The dumbest thing is that even java players like me want the features that you mentioned, instead of making java better they are making bedrock worse to achieve parity.

I love how horses don’t fit in boats because “they’re too big”, but ravagers aren’t too big for minecarts 😂

A reminder that on Java, if you can’t find enemies in a raid, you can just hit the bell to highlight all raid mobs. On bedrock, you have to painfully search for them by playing the minecraft equivalent of marko-polo.

I actually would love if they had added the horse boat thing to Java instead of removing it from Bedrock.

When Java has a new quirk, it becomes a feature and doesn't carry over to Bedrock. When Bedrock has a quirk that's useful, it's actually a bug or mistake and gets removed from the game. I love Mojang, I love Minecraft, but this is a very serious issue, and it makes me so angry when Java gets better redstone, AI, commands, features, and everything while Bedrock gets things removed because they aren't in Java. They are minor changes that surely take very little time to code. They aren't worth being removed. Stop giving Bedrock the short end of the stick.

I hate how the parity changes tend to be one-sided, removing exclusives on Bedrock but not Java. I'd rather much see them introduced to Java

YES! Literally yesterday I was playing Minecraft in bedrock, and tried getting my horse into a boat so I could go across a sea with it. I had to abandon the horse and let it wander away so I could keep traveling. I was so confused and could SWEAR I was able to do that exact thing before, I used that feature so super often to travel around the world all the time, it was my default exploring trick. I'm glad I'm not going mad and it's just something they stupidly removed. Yes, horses are realistically too big for boats, but also dragons and zombies don't exist so I thing it's weird to try to be far too realistic in a game where you get attacked by pig-men regularly.

i got so mad when they removed horses in boats. the problem with them changing things for 'parity' is it seems to exclusively nerf bedrock whilst letting java have things like furnace minecarts, boat recipe without shovel, nether roof, sweeping edge etc.

M$: parity is important so we removed horses in boats. Also M$: you still can't use your offhand in Bedrock Like for real. The horses in boats let my daughter and I ride around on horses around our world exploring. No point spending the time finding horses now.

As a Bedrock player, thanks for bringing this up. Even though these changes are technically kind of small, they could definitely escalate over time.

If you build your house in the shattered savanna and make it so it fits really well with the grass colour around it and then that grass color is changed, that's kinda destroying an existing build, something that they said they actively want to avoid

Rafts should be able to hold mobs that are larger than a boat because the sides have no borders

I love how mojang use their time to take away features that people love for the sake of parity instead of adding all the features they've been saying they were going to add for years now.

At this point Mojang should just remove the Nether Roof on Java because it's "a bug" and that "both of the editions need parity".

I've started a world in 2015 where I had a full-on massive base in one of the most beautiful shattered savannahs. I've lost that world, but even if I still had it, I'd genuinely be scared to open it because I know it most certainly wouldn't be the beauty it once was. Now imagine the people who still played in their shattered svannah worlds up until the change. They were probably devastated by this change, and it probably made them give up on their worlds. People say that this isn't the same as the Java Nether roof and that it's just grass having a different color, and they may be right, but for many players, it WAS like the Java Nether roof. The beautiful green grass partnered up with beautiful, almost amplified, like terrain was the reason why people even built is that biome in the first place and it was the same for so, so, sooo many years that people didn't even know it was a bug, to them it was one of the coolest biomes in the game and now.....now it's like a dead and deserted place you avoid because it brings back too many beautiful memories of when it was Minecraft's top biome. It's like Mojang sucked the life out of it, and for what? Just so that Bedrock would be slightly more like Java? If parity means turning Bedrock into Java and removing all of the good features it has to achieve that, then...this is not the correct parity

The problem really is that they remove features we want like damaging campfires but don’t add features we do want like banner shields and dual weilding

While we're at it, Mojang, Make Minecart Rails great again, they're so pitifully slow for all the effort and work you'd have to put in to a functioning one for any distance. Not to mention, slower than many other methods of travel. In a game called Minecraft, it's sad to see the potential of faster Minecarts not being utilized. It shouldn't be faster than elytra, but it is pretty sad how slow it is currently.

The green grass in the shattered savanna was the worst change minecraft has done IMO. Absolutely ruined the unique landscape that had absolutely no point in even being removed. I hate it, I despise it. We need our green grass back!

i feel like this is a good time to remind mojang that the creeper was a bug, it was supposed to be a pig but they accidentally made it a tall standing armless thing, ultimately turning it into a beloved feature and iconic staple of minecraft itself. not every bug has to be a bug.

Another Bedrock exclusive feature that was removed was Blue Ice emitted a light level of 4, but now it emits no light to match Java. This was a real bummer as I had used it for mood lighting in an ice cave I built which was then left completely dark and no longer mob-proofed (so much for not wanting to change people’s worlds). Part of me is happy that Mojang has been tackling the large backlog of features that were missing from Bedrock Edition such as Spectator Mode, Banner Shields, 1.5 block crouching, etc. What worries me is that when it comes to things like building on the Nether Roof, the F3 Debug screen, and 100% TNT drops that Mojang will refuse to add them to Bedrock Edition because of “intended gameplay”, but they will never remove them from Java Edition because they don’t want to upset Java players (even though they have no qualms about upsetting Bedrock players). The hypocrisy of the situation is infuriating. Also, there is no way that Bedrock Edition redstone is the “intended” way for redstone to function as it has all sorts of timing issues and inconsistencies. It is arguably more broken than Java redstone. The fact that Mojang created a redstone room as part of the Ancient City and took several betas to fix the Bedrock version as the first few versions had totally broken contraptions should have been a huge indicator that something it wrong with Bedrock redstone. At least give us a sticky piston that can spit out its block with a one-tick pulse.

Shattered Savanna used to be my favourite biome. I remember coming across it in Bedrock having no idea such a biome even existed and being so confused that there was an entire biome I'd never seen before. I was most confused by the savanna trees being bright green and accompanied by bright green grass. I found it so cool and it gave me Jurassic vibes. Now the only unique thing to the biome is a little bit of coarse dirt and some slightly more wild terrain. It feels more like a slight variation of the savanna now rather than an entirely alternate version. Seems like such a small thing but it has genuinely ruined my favourite biome.

Mojang be like: Here are these features that are different, and clearly better, than Java. Instead of adding them Java, let's remove them

My build in the shattered savanna looks awful now because of the hue change. I hope this change is reverted later down the line! Also I've seen Java players reaction to these changes and it's quite frustrating because it's from people who are vocal in the MC community. They believe things like the cobweb to string recipe are overpowered or that the horses in boats are overpowered. Hopefully they listen to Bedrock players instead of Java players and just embrace the fact that these are two different games.

If Bedrock has exclusive features that Java players want then just give it to them, NOT REMOVING IT FROM BEDROCK!!!!! I think that if they are going to be removing a feature that is already used then they should at least add an alternative. Like maybe we can enchant horse armour to have frost walker so that transporting them from side of body of water to another then it won't be a problem and might actually be a welcomed change

When I found out Java & Bedrock were getting parity on their biome color palettes, I was excited because I always loved how vibrant Bedrock Edition's colors were in comparison to Java's. You could then imagine my disappointment when I learned Bedrock was getting the drab, faded Java Edition palette instead.

The way mojang treats bedrock vs Java almost actually feels like PC master race meme come to life. I didn’t actually know the horse-boat thing was a parity update, I thought it was just “yeah, screw you” from mojang, because bedrock can’t have nice things

This reminds me a lot of this bug a while back where you could overlap paintings with signs, vines, and item frames on bedrock. They eventually removed it but it was actually a really useful trick to make builds look nicer and you could hide vines in the paintings. Shame they fixed it

A compromise I’d like to see going forward is that maybe the rafts are the only boats that can hold horses. It’s aesthetic AND useful. The only problem I see is (unless you spawn in a jungle) by the time you find bamboo, you’ve already done a large chunk of exploring without this feature

As a bedrock redstoner, it bugs me that the Java edition is just chilling with quasi connectivity and nether roof farms even though they are classified as bugs on the bug tracker. However, the problem with redstone parity is that most machines will break on one edition or the other, so redstone will probably be fixed last.

That string from cobweb mechanic is ESSENTIAL when using a nether portal down low. Finding an abandoned mine for string, or the cobwebs in a stronghold to make a bed are lifesavers! Well, they were…

Even as a Java player, I see a lot of Bedrock exclusive features and think "wow it'd be cool if they added that to Java" not "man this should be removed entirely from Bedrock." Who is it benefiting to take away liked features?

I really appreciate the format of this video, it's not yelling at the developers, and it's not assuming they have time to watch an hour-long documentary about what they're doing wrong. It's requesting a conversation and concisely laying out your thoughts and the general thoughts of the community. You're not just being negative; you're laying out the positive things that have happened in the past and how those can/should be replicated. I agree with this video and what you're saying here and I really like how you said it

I don’t get why they just didn’t add stuff from bedrock to Java like the green grass in the shattered savanna and horses in boats. It would have probably been much easier and way more liked by the community, but then again I’m not a game dev so idk

The worst part is that Bedrock's "Bugs" are small things that don't really impact the game a whole lot, yet the community loves them. But they are "bugs" and so are removed. Yet Java's "Bugs" are huge, game-breaking features, that actually ruin parts of the game. Quasi-conductivity makes the already complicated Redstone system impossible to understand, and the Nether Roof is just cheating. It allows the Nether Portal's 1:8 ratio to be used WITHOUT HAVING TO GO TO THE NETHER. But because Java whines, it gets left in. These is really all because of Java's RU-vid influence, making it seem larger than it is. In reality, Java is the 1% and should be treated as such. If anyone is to get the short end of the stick, it shouldn't be the main game, where most players are.

I am 51 and just started playing MC about a year ago on the switch. I really hate losing the cobwebs into string, I love going through mineshafts and taking all of the resources there and trading with villagers. I have never made a mob farm and have no interest in it so this is a bummer. I also will never get an elytra unless I slip into creative because I don’t want to go to the end so not having a horse in a boat is a bummer too.

thank goodness for ibxtoycat for shining light on these things and being a wonderful part of the bedrock community. if mojang really wants to say that bedrock is the intended version then they should at least get their opinion. (Java is also great, I just prefer bedrock edition)

Literally all the features that I have seen removed sound so cool and I would love to see them added to Java. I play both versions but usually play bedrock survival and do mods and other stuff on Java

Iv been playing Java lately but iv been a bedrock player for a while and honestly not happy with these changes. Furthermore there’s the whole other large issue that grinds my love for the game and mojang as a whole.

thank you so so so much for actually respecting this version of the game and not treating it like a joke and something only small children play on their ipads or whatever, its been the version ive loved most even with access to java edition :-)

With new updates coming up fairly regularly, they could have votes for which version of a feature to keep in addition to the new content. For example, keep or remove the 1.9 combat changes.

They should make big boats. Imagine a recipe that would allow you to combine two boats to make a bigger one that would fit a player and a big mob, or up to 3 players/normal mobs. And could have a chest version that would carry mobs and players little a normal boat but adding a chest and have a double chest version.

Because of the horse boat change I have some of my horses just stranded in the middle of nowhere.

How about the pause button actually pauses the game

I just switched from Bedrock to Java and it honestly seems like each version just has half the features. The UI and User Experience of Bedrock is brilliant, but there are features in Java like map markers or sword sweeping that just don't exist in Bedrock. It's so weird. They feel so different.

I quit a survival world because they changed the savanna grass. Sailed 1500 blocks there, set up a house, logged off. Next day the house had UGLY GRASS outside

If Mojang take the cobwebs to string recipe away then I’m taking that as confirmation they hate cats and want peaceful players to kill cats for string. (Tbh I didn’t even know they dropped that till friend told me since he couldn’t find any mineshafts in his peaceful world) Even after he told me I still have yet to be able to bring my self to do so.

I'm primarily a java player and there are plenty of bedrock features I'd love to see ported over.

I say that to achieve Parity with the skin customization, they combine the two so that you can truly make your own skin and if you don’t want to you can use the customization options already provided by mojang.

I liked the horses in boats as it made easier transport for horses to get across rivers, you maybe doing a 500000 block journey, are you going to do that on foot? NO, it would take you hours maybe days to do that journey, when depending on the speed of your horse you’d be able to divide that journey by 4, and if you had a boat it would make it even quicker as you can sail your horse across water! What do you think Toycat?

As a Java player I can tell you that I do want a lot of these features. I would love to be able to put horses in boats because that would make me more likely to use horses. It would be super helpful in early game. Also I’ve seen people say a good compromise for this would be to allow horses and bigger mobs in rafts. I personally love that idea because it makes rafts different and more interesting (also gives them a unique use). As for the cobweb to string recipe I think that’s cool but 9 string is probably too much from one cobweb. 4 seems like a good number to me (plus it’s in between 0 and 9). Also I would really like for us to get your big salmon. Plus I like how in bedrock you dye leather armour in cauldrons. It gives cauldrons more use and it also means you can use different coloured “water” in cauldrons to make more stuff and be more creative in builds. Would love to use some red dye in a cauldron as fake blood in my Halloween or spooky builds. Would also kinda like to make the water more dirty in my fake cauldron toilets by turning it with either brown or yellow dye or something (because I’m gross like that). Plus you could make floor pixel art with the different Colors. Just seems so useful. I also love how your bedrock witch hut cauldrons sometimes come with potion in it. That must make finding a witch hut so much more exciting! It would be lovely to be able to store potions in cauldrons for building/creative purposes or for map making too. I personally think quasi conductivity is stupid and makes no sense but I’m not really a redstone person so my opinion on that probably doesn’t matter. Maybe I should be a bedrock player I guess lol I’m just so used to my mouse and keyboard that I don’t think I could switch. Hope they stop messing your game up by removing features in the name of “parity”. I feel so bad that u bedrock people’s opinions don’t seems to get heard by mojang the same way that Java people’s do.

I think that if a fairly huge minecraft content creator makes a parity series with each episode going over all features of a singular feature and says which they think has the better parity than mojang can look at that video and comments to see what people like. Than work on that. It's not often mojang listen to bedrock but they did listen to you and silent in your podcast about boats and shortly after it was fixed so...

I feel like they should add a cobweb recipe; and make it so that it drops 3-5 string when mined with a fortune tool. Across all editions of course.

let’s not forget shaders, bedrock players lost their favorite shaders because of the renderdragon engine, which was heartbreaking.

2:12 This one hurts my soul personally, because it used to be my favorite biome before this change. The grass color combined with the lack of rain and the wild terrain made it so interesting to build wacky houses in, and now all the grass is browning and I hate it. Other than that, these past few Betas have been so mixed. I really like them porting over banner shields and the new sneaking and crawling mechanics, but I really hate the "no horses in boats", the cobwebs to string recipe removal, and even the recent bug where you'd crouch under blocks while riding on a camel/horse (I really liked that, especially when riding through a forest with the leaves constantly in my face)! I've been known to play devil's advocate for them from time to time, but *EVEN I* can't defend them on these. What if they go for the "snow makes leaves turn white" feature next?! What if they make it so cakes can't stack?! I'm so worried about what they have planned.

Minecraft Bedrock's different features that java doesn't have are sometimes good. And the developers really had to make bedrock be completely like java. Bedrock has some cool unique features too. It's sad to see them being removed

And the structure void no longer holds up gravel, sand, etcetera. I would create block for block copied in creative mode of naturally generated structures and terrain, which would occasionally generate floating gravel or sand. Structure voids, unlike string, cannot be seen, but, unlike barriers, do not physically block areas or obstruct the passage. This "fix" also removes from the capabilities of the block in its more intended usage anyway, as you can no longer copy a region while still leaving out blocks below gravel.

Horses shouldn’t fit in boats? Neither should blocks float in the air! It’s a fantasy world. We expect to routinely suspend our belief while playing it. Edit: I depend on the cobweb to string recipe and use it all the time.

Actually, it's a lot worse than just horses not being able to fit in boats. Any entity that is larger than the boat itself (or minecart) can no longer get in it. This entirely breaks designs for ghast farms or other farms that require mobs to get stuck in minecarts or boats.

As a Java player on minecraft, this is ridiculous! I had no idea Mojang been doing this and making difference with both editions from each other... why are these separated anyway? It the same game , so both should have the same features! And I agree Mojang should listen to their community, that's how things work usually.

The cobweb situation I am so confused about, because in Java edition you can still turn cobwebs into string by braking it with a sword or in a crafting table! As a java player I also want my horses to fit in boats thank you very much! Campfires doing damage... That seems like something that would be very understandable. It's fire! I thought shattered savannahs had bright green grass in java? Has this been removed?

Yeah, not long ago I was traveling with horse and came to an ocean so I pulled the boat out and was gonna put my horse in it but of course it didn’t work, so I spent the next few hours looking for a lead

This isn't even pointing out the furnace XP bug which was a huge deal at the time. These bugs are literally a waste of time to fix, but game breaking high priority stuff is ignored (the pink glitch, the switch editions uplayability). There really seems to be some issues with priority here.

Another thing is how on Bedrock you used to be able to stack bamboo by just clicking on the bottom, like scaffolding. Mojang removed that and now you have to manually stack it like a block to match Java. I didn't even know this was a parity thing but it's just another annoying change no one wanted that they could've easily added to Java.

I agree. Mojang needs to actually listen to the commonity more, not just pretend they are listening by having mob votes.

#3 it's easy to solve. Devs just should change it so entities burn only when stand a specific time. This way, using campfires would be less annoying for players (or bees) and farms would remain unchanged

It's telling that, for example, The cobweb to string crafting is a tweak available on Vanilla Tweaks for Java, something many java players use

I started playing Minecraft two years ago and started on ps4. 6 months ago I switched to windows 10 but stayed on bedrock. I still believe in it and hope the developers see the issues here

As java player: we been asking for horses in boats for forever. The parity change is backwards.

As a bedrock builder the first thing I noticed in 1.20 is that I couldn’t put buttons on the top or bottom of fences anymore that pissed me off

They need to add in sweeping edge and an f3 screen. Also I want my grey ear grey nose bunny variant back that Java redditers complained about getting removed as a bedrock exclusive texture.
