why not use three hoops and two pairs of scissors and not have to block the back end? that first one would have still bought the farm that way.

So this is how to avoid people bitching about animals getting killed: dont show them the moneyshot and instantly it becomes fine. Out of sight out of mind huh? Simple minds...

Divine Linker Pretty much. I've had idiots sit there and talk down to me about hunting and trapping and call me a barbarian while stuffing their fat face with Chicken Mcnuggets and a cheeseburger.
@olivest509

+Big Boss "I eat meat, but only if it's been wrapped in plastic" (e.g. supermarket meat) actual quote from a relative. As long as they don't witness the death and processing, they somehow think they're less "barbaric" than those of us who can do it all. They are unabashedly pawning off the dirty work on someone else, someone who is a small piece in a corporation that cares nothing for the quality of life or the speed of death of their meat animals. But somehow that makes them a better person...

Shawn, thank you for sharing your passion with us, your videos are so informative, you clearly explain all the elements and I'm happy to report that I made this trap yesterday, actually 3 of them. I just found Paul Campbell's book online when researching this trap. Page 65 was very informative and the inspiration for this video. I recently ordered a copy and can't wait to read it. You are very lucky to have worked with him. Quite interesting video for those who are waiting the situation to come when such the way for survival will be the only chance. There will not be any PC nor mobile phones available for sure ... the question is what way the others will choose to get the food in the same time .... anyway thanks for reminding us on how natives used to live in the past.

Great videos! I agree , these traps are a much wiser use of energy than large game hunting. First off, there will always be more small game than large game, secondly, large game requires preservation skills and TIME. Time may not be in your favour. Third, these traps made from natural materials are obviously very effective, so you do not have to weigh your pack down with store bought traps. It's always lighter to carry knowledge in your head that gear on your back! Well done, I'm subscribing. MiF

No thanks..I seen first hand how dirty they are..I've shot hundreds of them over the years and trapped them..I've watched them eat each other...If you trap them an urban area they'll have been in the sewer..Fleas on them help spread the diseases..if you're hundreds of miles away from civilisation they might be ok..But as I said they should only be eaten in extreme survival situations..each to their own..If you want to eat them go ahead I won't stop you..lol
