So many experts that don't even live in NZ and have no idea how well our fish stocks are managed! I don't care what the uninformed say, spikeys are a pain in butt and in "plaugue" proportions down here in Marlborough, they are out of balance due to no commercial value. Returning them safely to the sea to consume more resources is just plain bad managment. Paul you are a legend, I have one of your systems and plan to use it on our camping trip this week, keep up the good work and keep posting.
thank you for this vid, i just got me my first kite set i still prefer them over the torpedos although there alot easier, i just love all the manual effort involved with the kites
didnt know about this method.... its always interesting to see how and what human brains created as technics, methods.... very impressive how it works so well.... cool... I never have seen Kite fishing on the Baltic or North Sea coast where I am settled...
The kiteline and mainline are 65kg breaking strain the hooks are attached to a 50 kg safety trace in case we get something to big to land or a snag. That way we always get the kites and mainline back
When I learn how to cast a fishing line out 1500 metres from a rod I will try that, but until then this is the only way for us to access these offshore fish from the beach. And it is heaps of fun and challenging!
The fish are a mile to a mile and a half offshore. This is a very effective way of catchjng these excellent table fish from the shore. If anyone has a better way of casting fishing lines this far offshore I would like to hear about it.
Wow... so many hooks... it's almost like commercial fishing. In California, the maximum number of hooks are three. And for specific species, only one hook is allow per line. And only 1 line per angler. I have seen local area fishery got so depleted, people are keeping fishes that they call "trash" before. Protect the natural resource, don't over-fish. cheers
Keep consistency when naming your clips and it will make it easier to follow from one part to the next. Probably why this one never got the views your last video did.
We ship kite kite fishing gear worldwide. Visit the website shown on the video or search for Paul's fishing kites on google to locate our Paul's fishing kites website. A link to it is also on my channel.
I've been brainstorming about a good way to use a kite to haul larger baits out past the surf on Hatteras then disconnect from my main line similar to how locals connect a bait rod to an anchor line for king mackerel. Any thoughts?
@@paulsfishingsystems Thanks for that. I have an Aee condor fishing drone, how far out would you recommend to cast? Looking to venture up there soon. Cheers
@Plumpkinman812 These small sharks are spiney dogfish and are at times in plague proportions off this coast. They are not good to eat and they have no commercial value. As they are not targeted by any fishing sector they are abundant and are certainly not threatened by overfishing.
Sounds interesting but am fairly sure that this would be not be legal in Australia for recreational fishing. There are definite bag limits along with specific lengths for each species. In regard to the small sharks, if they are "over populated" and out breeding other species then there is something very wrong with fisheries management.
You are dead right, the only things you seem to get here if you are an average caster are not good table fish, it's mainly red cod, kahawai and shark. I don't think they understand what west coast fishers are up against in NZ. Dangerous bars, unpredictable surf and massive rips plus the fact the fish are 1000 yds out. See LATEST CATCHES on my website. It has good catch reports and pics. The link to it is on my channel page.
That was so cool to watch...first time ive ever seen Kite fishin, does the kite take the handline out?..what does the handline attach to?..thx for sharing it
That's a very terrible way to treat those sharks! Atleast you should've put the beached ones back in water and well in a better way than just tossing them onto the oncoming waves. I feel so bad about them.
We have many different dogfish in New Zealand and most are edible, one is actually highly prized as an eating fish. These ones are not and they turn up in plague proportions at times.
That fu#@##ing dog . I am so glad I don't feel obligate to care for a Bloody dog any more. I also wish I could try fishing like this but I live in Australia and well that's not going to happen. Unless we start looking at the facts about the impact of fishing and who is doing the damage. E.G. Big nets dragged along the bottom. Big nets that boats take around schools and just drag all in. Here is the thing how much tax do they contribute. NOTHING .Just a rant .
matar tantos tiburones no creo que sea ni racional ni logico, esto no es pesca selectiva, el pescador es verdad que trabaja muy duro , pero no es selectivo.
down here there heaps of them and can make it hard to catch the fish u want and there not endangered in nz in fact maybe i dare say to many.and those dogfish/shark are not that good of eating spoted dogfish are the best here that sell that in fish and chip shops as lemon fish yum.
you should not kill so many "baby sharks" by mistake... every year more than 100 million are killed by over fishing for fin soups in Asia, really ashaming that this beautiful creature and intelligent hunter is threatend so heavily by humans... if sharks will disappear in the seas, the eco system will collapse...
where's the fun in putting 30 hooks out on 1 line, leaving it for how eva long, then dragin it it when the fish are all half dead. takes all the skill and enjoyment out of fishing.. should be ashamed of ya selfs
Tracka350 get your facts right, 25 hooks not 30. Secondly this is the only way you can catch fish in some places in New Zealand. I had been surfcasting off west coast beach for a long time and got nothing. So we invested in this and I will never look back on using a fishing rod. This is the only fun fishing method I can think of that catches heaps of fish. You should know what you are talking about first before you get on here and talk crap about something you have never tried before!!
