Hergestellt werden fugenlose Partnerringe aus tordiertem und geätztem Gold-Silber-Mokume Gane. Ich wünsche viel Vergnügen beim Zusehen. Bernd Alexander Mansholt
Exquisite. Thank you for sharing. I am curious about the stone…I don’t know if I can find it in English so if anyone knows the spelling please post it here? Thank you.
Didn't expect as nice a result!! I also like that you lined the inside with a solid color. And can see you know how to distribute heat very well. I'm not a jeweler just poking at it a little.. I weld, have done bronze castings and much carbon metal work nice work and filming.
Thank you for your nice comment. I'm also trying to use carbon steel to make knives with nice handles. We're moving the workshop right now, but I'll make a video of it afterwards. Best regards
To be honest, I don't even know where to start. What exactly do you want to do? If it's these rings and the material for them, you need everything that is shown in the video. You can also buy the MokumeGane material ready-made.
what are the tools at timestamps: is that mold custom made, and is the material steel 0:10 the jig 5:50 a mini drill press? 6:00 the mount at 6:45 that a custom made tool pushing down the ring at 10:11
Hi, here some links to the products or similar. www.uhrmacherwerkzeuge.com/Augusta-Ringerweiterungsmaschine www.zujeddeloh.de/produkte/goldschmiedebedarf/schmelzen_und_giessen/giessen/einguss_-_910.html toom.de/p/maschinenschraubstock-micromot-ms-4-34-mm/1250106 Its from Germany but you can see the pictures and maybe order in your country. The mini drill press is custome made, but you can drill it without I hope thats helps ✌
This is incredible. Thank you. I am just learning and I am at. Avery basic level. I understand that it's the twisting that creates the pattern. Does drilling the bar effect the patterns as well? How do we know what we should do for certain patterns to emerge?
Thank you for your interest and the kind words. Yes, the drilling affects the pattern in some way. The best way to see the pattern in the metal is to build a Mokume Gane block out of red and yellow clay. You can practice everything with it and it doesn't cost much.
beautiful rings. how do you figure out the firing temperatures for different metals? do you need different temperatures to fuse silver to 18kt gold compared to 22kt gold? and can you fuse different colours of gold to eachother?
Basically, at 760 degrees Celsius you are usually right between gold alloys. Platinum and gold, as well as palladium and gold alloys can also be combined in this way. Steve Midgett wrote a book about Mokume Gane. There are many recipes and temperatures in there. Many temperatures and times were determined empirically - it was simply tried out. But yes, different colors and different alloys - it's all possible. Some alloys are a little harder to work with than others (especially 750 red gold, which is very hard). In this video I work with pure gold and silver. Very soft and easy to handle. Best regards
really? 760 C is the right temperature? thats lucky I had just yesterday tried to look this up, now found it semirandomly. thx I'll try it out. any reference for how long to hold it at 760 C? as long as I want or just as long as it needs? few seconds?
At 760 degrees I have perfect results. I usually leave the lamination in the oven for 10 hours, but once I didn't have time and had to take it out of the oven after five hours - the result was just as good 😂😂 I usually try out samples in advance
