It's their third time on Eurovision. First time in 2005 they brought granny playing drums on stage 😄. They allways bring fun and joy. The performance in semi-final was better than in this video, made the crowd come alive and dancing. Sounded better too, maybe it's the guitar.

To respond to the comentator, this song would have been lost all the poetic methaphor in english. The language is romanian with a melodic moldovian accent. Same accent you hear on both sides of the Prut river (which borders today's Romania and Moldova). The song's is played on joyful wedding music - yes all weddings have a live band in Romania and Moldova that play similar melodies and people dance until the morning. The song's message is clear and beautiful - we are one people one country from Chisinau to Bucharest. A message even more powerful today.... And in the full video the reaction of the train conductor is priceless when he sees the rug is not hiding contraband goods but has the portrait of Stefan the Great a moldavian king from 15th century a national hero on both sides of the Prut river.

To be able to understand this song, you must know the history of Moldova, and of course to understand the words. The song has a deep meaning for Moldova and Romania. Because Moldova was part of Romania once, but it was token away by soviet union, after the WW2 in result of the act Ribentrop-Molotov.

Did you like the fiddle, too? This is the traditional type of music you dance at Romanian weddings, (by the way, the language is Romanian) - the text is about Romania and Moldova as one country, with similar cultural traditions; so, you go by train Cişinău -Bucureşti "de acasă pân' acasă" (= frome home to home).

I have been looking at many reactions to this song. The more Western Europe the ones reacting to the song are, and not at all familiar with Balkan/Eastern European folk music, the more they dislike the song and act extremely arogant towards it, with mean comments. As you reach Central Europe, everyone is in love with the song. For us in the Balkans, those rythms are in our DNA, we party (hard) on these folk songs. It is our culture and we love it. But Even if I understand that such music is unfamiliar to you, the disgusted faces you make throughout your entire video is not appropriate. By this time, you know that Moldova was second place in public voting. At least it is a song that will be remembered, unlike many of the other songs.

As a Texan, I'm used to this kind of sound; it reminds me of norteño a bit, mostly because of the Central European influence on norteño from all the German and Czech immigrants to Texas and Mexico in the 1800s.

in my opinion this live performance is rather weak. The official music video on the other hand is hilarious and I'd really recommend watching it! This is one of my favourite songs this year, although I know that it definitely won't win xD As far as I know, the lyrics are in Romanian (which is also spoken in Moldova) and the song is about a train ride from Chisinau to Bucharest, the capitals of Moldova and Romania. He's singing a lot about the friendship and strong cultural bonds between the two countries. This is why I think this song catches the spirit of Eurovision really well..

It's actually about the fact that Moldova once was part of Romania, and after the war, it was taken by the Soviet Union :( "In 1940, after securing the assent of Nazi Germany through the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, the Soviet Union pressured Romania, under threat of war,[2] into withdrawing from Bessarabia, allowing the Red Army to enter and the Soviet Union to annex the region." And the song is actually saying that the train goes from "home" to "home", from Chisinau (capital city of Moldova) - to Bucuresti (Capital city of Romania). To be honest, it's quite personal for Moldavians and Romanian people :) Some additional info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bessarabia Later edit: I loved seeing your reaction and thank you. It is indeed hard to analyze this one :) But this band is great!
@dumitrurobu77
@dumitrurobu77 2 года назад
Yes, the lyrics are in Romanian because Moldova was part of Romania. And as an idea, the song refers to the fact that there is no border between Chisinau and Bucharest because Romania and Moldova are one. That is, one country.

I appreciate you took the time to notice all kinds of details in vocals without being in many degrees melodic. As a fun fact, all those slides in pitch and syncopations are very much embedded in our traditional music. I'm also from the historical region called Moldova from inside of Romania, as the original region of Moldova was spread from the Eastern Carpathians beyond the borders of today's Republic of Moldova and a long way in Ucraine, as well. Never mind history, there are identical architectural findings in an area that starts somewhere at the borders of Romania and Moldova for a long way in Ucraine, some thousands of years old, that actually proves a very unitary culture, known now as the culture of "Cucuteni-Tripolia". As an insider, I couldn't help but notice what Ucrainians presented as elements of culture in their song Stefania, together with the costumes, brings many similarities to what we have as well. They were brave enough to put that at the forefront, like Moldavians as well and unlike Romanians who preferred to look Latin.

Hy guys. I want to avoid to comment what happened during the voting process at Eurovision Song Contest 2022. For sure, this song is not a " piece of art ". It doesn't knock you down with a complex melodically line and lyrics to induce a complex emotional state.. It's just an explosion of basic, simple, yet, overwhelming joy. What's for sure is that this song will be one of the 2022's huge market hit. You'll hear it (and dance it) where ever there will by a crowd joined together to have a good time and a smashing party. For sure, Zdob si Zdub & the Advahov Bros will make a lot more money out of this song than the Kalush Orchestra. We just received a crazy enough remedy to help us go along such crazy times that we are living now We should be thankfully for that Mulțumim frați de peste Prut. The Moldovan song has a strong political message that got lost in translation. The Chisinau-Bucharest train (the capitals of Moldova and Romania) is metaphore about the reunification of the two countries. And it is somehow related to the war in Ukraine because Moldova got annexed into USSR during WW2. Before that it was a romanian teritory..
