In this vlog we've took a ride of 12 Km from Moldovita village to Argel village, with an authentic Romanian steam train called Mocanita Hutulca. Along the beautiful landscapes we've seen from the land of Bukovina, at the end of the line, we've been welcomed with with a huge variety of Romanian traditional food! Very tasty! To be mentioned here, that this time we've travelled really close to Ukraine (around 30 Km distance from the border).
Overall, the experience was awesome, therefore, we'll strongly recommend visiting also this area. Regarding the prices, they are acceptable; for a return ticket you'll pay around £9 and for a meal around £10. This narrow-gauge steam train, is one of the oldest ones from Romania.
The Moldovita railway was used for timber transport until 2001. Originating from the initiative of Louis Ortieb, a sawmill owner in Munich, the narrow-gauge railway in Moldovița was constructed in 1888. Its purpose was to facilitate the transport of timber from the forest to the sawmill, a function it fulfilled until it ceased operations.
