This is a short video on how to attach the molle ii assault pack to the molle ii ruck. I wasn't able to find this anywhere on RU-vid so I figured I'd share. Enjoy!
Good job on this how-to. The first gen molle II is not set up to attach the assualt pack. I watched your video when I got back to my car after buying a Large Molle II and had to take it back in to the Surplus store and go through the stack to find a Gen II with the right buckle and strap setup. I traded the other one for the Gen II. Just as a heads-up for those who want this feature. The Gen II Large Molle II has the nylon sleeve extended top with a draw string. The first gen just has a draw string around the top of the ruck with no extended sleeve. Also the first gen only has two straps that come around the sides and not three straps with required buckle clips on each strap to attach the assault pack. Your video saved me some hassle because I wanted the assault pack attachment feature. Thanks.
Thank you so much. As a reservist and a cadet I don’t see much field time and I’ve being experimenting for a long time on doing that so I can use my assault pack once I leave the ORP and carry extra stuff.
For real. The field manual on molle2 tells you everything you need to know EXCEPT how to strap the assault pack to the ruck, despite it being prescribed as the full load March setup. Who the fuck wrote that FM? Fucker needs a good smoking. Brilliant video!
Got drill coming up and I can say after 8 years of service in a light Infantry unit this could have come In Handy years ago... Thanks for the video and idea. I'm going to start using this.
After buying a Molle 2 assault for $20 measly bucks at a flea market in Unused condition 2 years ago , the desert cammo was dyed forest green yesterday . I'm trying to sort out how to attache the waist pack to the bottom of the Molle 2 assault . You have given me some ideas and Thanks Aleksfoxtrot .
the only problem with this method is that it is a hassle to open the ruck while the assault pack is attached in that manner. I roll my assault pack and thatch it under my left sustainment such using the 2 retention straps on the ruck. this provides a perfect balance of utilization the main rucks capabilities while still allowing you access to grab your assultpack and loading it with mission essential items for a mission when you ditch your ruck sack in a PB or a SH.
thanks i watched this a month ago now i got all 3 piece the large ruck acu the 3 day assault acu and the butt pack acu and i knew how to attach them cause of watching this it really is a wicked pack all of them
I’m not sure if this was on purpose on not but the awesome spec ops brand 3day can be used as well. Unbuckle the shoulder strap fastex Read the straps tight against the back of the pack, clipping the female ends into the lower male ends on the ruck and simply adding webbing w/ male buckles and sliders through the spots in the top grab handle.
Hey man, tx for the video. I've been looking for solid "how to's" for the Molle ll system. Just some advice. I would run the side straps under the sustainment pouches if you could. That way your not crushing the sustainment pouches. Hey, do you know where i can download the instruction manual for the entire Molle ll system? There's gotta be one because the army has a manual for everything! Tx again for the video.
American Pi, you can use www.apd.army.mil. The Army Publishing Directorate is the only official online source for Army TMs and doctrinal references. There are two different kinds of TMs, but this one should be under a category like equipment manuals.
Rucksacks differ. I have two of two different types. One with the integrated sleep system compartment similar to the one in the video, and one with the separate one. Both have only two of the side straps, without the lower one shown. They also don't have the side release buckles on them, but have the tri-slide buckles instead. You can loop the side straps from the assault pack and loop them around the side straps of the ruck sack to make it just as secure.
Sarberus yeah the "molle II" covers a lot various generations of packs. I believe all of the molle II ACU digital and OCP (multicam) are designed the same way.
One of mine is an ACU digital and differs from yours slightly. I've found the Multicam models very hard to find in military issue. It'd be useful if someone made an internet resource that compiled all the variations in design and camo, but apparently no one has yet. Many of the existing sources seem to assume they are all made the same.
Sarberus interesting. yeah thanks for the info. I watch Georgia outdoor trader and get deals on things. I paid like 60 bucks for this ruck. and have a multicam assault pack now that I paid 70$
Can you please point me in the direction to where I can find those two top straps that are attached to the frame? Do they have a name or label? Thank you
How many rolls of toilet paper can the main pack hold. (Trolling). Okay seriously tho thanks for this because I never wanted to get a super sweet deal on the mismatched stuff bc I didn't think it would work but now I know I can grab those deals.
good video. have you ever tried running the assault pack on the frame without the large ruck? you can get alot of weight/stuff on without the 8 pounds of the large pack.
Great video! Question about the assault pack. The single row of mole straps near the top of the pack, what are those for? I’ve looked on the internet for an answer without any luck
I remember setting it all up straight out of CIF, I still have the VHS that came with it. I'm actually looking into an alternative to the molle that I can attach the assault pack to. I love those assault packs.
I've attached it to an alice pack before. It's nice to be able to transport your gear that way to keep it together. But I wouldnt want to carry it like that. Lol
@@aleksfoxtrot8044 The Patrol Pack is a slightly smaller, rarer (I hear) pack than the Assault Pack, which, as far as I know, only comes in woodland camouflage pattern, the Assault Pack only comes in UCP.
@@gary0228 I've seen the woodland molle 2 assault (patrol) packs. They look exactly like this one except in woodland. I havent checked the size on them. I know they dont have a zipper front pocket, just buckles. And theres a couple of other minor differences. Maybe they are smaller. I always assumed they were the same just an earlier gen.
No doubt. Its more so you can have it all together. Not necessarily ruckint around like this. If on mission, or hiking just choose one pack or the other. But if traveling in vehicle or staging for deployment you can hook then together like this. I actually don't even use the Molle2 anymore. I'm back to the tried and true medium alice. Its plenty large enough for any load outs.
@@aleksfoxtrot8044 can't go wrong with a Alice, but I wish it was more modular, but damn if it ain't a great pack, maybe I'd mod it with molle, clips, and some different straps. Kinda like a the molle features of a modern pack mixed with a Alice.
@@MrSwccguy there's a company that makes a modern Alice pack. It fits over the old frames. I love the ALICE. It legit will make a man out of you though. I have scars on my back from ruck marches in that thing. Most people won't scar from it, I'm just too stupid to smoke. Lol I've seen some cool mods where people fit MOLLE II straps and hip belts to them.
