Mollie Marcoux Samaan’s journey to the LPGA started at Princeton University, where she was a two-sport varsity athlete in soccer and ice hockey before graduating in 1991. On the 50th anniversary of Title IX, which prohibits sex-based discrimination in public education, she was brave enough to bring to light the major discrimination in funding that women’s sports receive across the nation. If given the same support as men’s sports, she knows that women’s sports across the country would excel to greater heights. A woman whose passion for sports is evident by her fight for her fellow female athletes’ rights now has her own spot in the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame.
