The panic that starts to set in when your child is missing is awful. My adult son went missing with my car overnight. I was angry with him at first for taking my car. But then when he wasn't answering his phone I became worried. I called the police and they checked with other townships & the state police, and eventually found he had been in an accident and was in the hospital. He ended up with a TBI, and lost some function but is able to walk and talk so he is fortunate. I will never forget how I felt those few hours when he was lost to me, and I can't imagine how it must feel to the loved ones of these missing people to never know what happened.

When my daughter started school I thought her bus was very late and I knew there was a new bus driver as opposed to the one that I knew well and trusted, so eventually I called the school in a panic and they probably thought I was crazy. They said she'd be home soon but I was in full blown panic mode, my heart was racing and I could hardly breathe. Thoughts of what could be happening to her raced through my head, and not knowing where your child is and who they're with, especially when they're very young, is terrifying. Turns out I was just very mistaken about the time her bus was supposed to arrive. I felt stupid in the end but just getting even a momentary taste of what it must be like was so awful. I can't imagine how it feels when it goes on and you never get that relief because something bad is indeed happening. If I didn't have kids I genuinely would choose to no longer participate in a world we're all forced to share with vile scum that would hurt children. I'd just opt out of existence altogether. I hate it here.

My husband was missing for 3 days. It's torturous, the not knowing. He was in the next town over and had tried to overdose but as he woke up he tried to drive home and was in jail for DUI, nobody was hurt. I will never forget that feeling of just being completely helpless like a mouse running on a wheel looking for him, and just having to sit stare at my phone waiting to hear anything. I can't imagine what family goes through missing someone for years!

I finally got to use one of Mike's catchphrases yesterday. I work with special needs adults and one of our more boisterous individuals was very agitated because she had ran out of notebook paper, and all I had to offer her was computer paper. Nicole's story is so creepy. I grew up in an apartment building complex similar to hers and as a child I hated having to go up and down those long halls. Once while roller skating in the parking lot a man called out to me and I swear I never skated so fast in my life. I used to deliver newspapers in those buildings and I remember having to go collect and hated certain "customers", grown men trying to lure a 12 yr old girl into their apartment. In the 70s we didn't really learn about SA and just knew to say no and run. I was in danger and didn't realize how much until I got older. It would've been so easy for someone to take her into an apt. How sad! How sad for all these families without answers, my heart goes out to them ❤

Me,2..my shitzu went on some adventures that made me sick for days. I always said I couldn’t live if my child was missing. I just obsessed over where was he, some honest dog lover took him home for several nites(5)…I miss him so much. He passed in may, in my arms. How people can do this to other people is reprehensible. I thank God that phone towers are helping solve so many disappearances and murders.

Me and my girlfriend always used to watch That Chapter together, we loved all the true crime stories. She used to love it because she thought it was nice that Mike always said “love ya” at the end of videos and it made her happy. She broke up with me a few weeks ago. I still love her and I would never wish anything bad about her. I hope she’s happy and enjoying life. I hope she’s never sad again. Thank you for talking about Marilyn Bergeron, Mike ! I am from Quebec City where it happened and this case has been haunting me for years. If the Ontario witness says the truth, and looking at how she changed her appearance, I always had the feeling that she was caught in a sex trafficking ring. Bad people wanted to punish her for knowing too much, maybe for protecting a friend ? She barely disclosed anything to those she loved the most but it feels like she was truly scared for her life. The lack of clues in this case still baffles me to this day. I have a lot of empathy for her family and I hope that they will find Marilyn someday.

I nearly got kidnapped in my town square when I was around 12(?) on a summer afternoon. A jeep that had 2-3 guys in it started following me from the middle school and would literally circle the square quickly then slow down right next to me, I waited until they were on the other side of the square then started booking it up a different street to get home, even grabbed a big stick for defense. Looking back I should've gone to the courthouse/sheriff's department (it's in the middle of the square) and told someone but I didn't wanna risk crossing the road in case they could grab me and I was already a little late getting home.

It's crazy how often people vanish in public places. The odds that no one saw anything are practically zero, but if it doesn't look suspicious, people don't notice or forget. Plus, eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable. So people could have seen something but got the details wrong.

But we don't even know for certain that Caleb WAS murdered. I mean, yes, of course it seems highly likely that he was, but any defense attorney could drive a truck through that hole. No corpse, no concrete evidence explicitly tying Ricky to the disappearance ... plus Caleb was a risk-taker, the defense could suggest that maybe he'd just taken off, disappearing willingly, taking the biggest risk of his life to escape whatever circumstances he was in. They say it's better to let the guilty go free than to imprison the innocent, so in this case I'm afraid Ricky would be found Not Guilty (which, remember, is not the same as "innocent").

I think a jury would have convicted this a**hole with no problem. Caleb's was last seen driving the mans truck and they know his last location was at this guys house by tracing his phone. The man testified he "found" an old broken phone and threw it away. This creep burned two computers in his fire pit AND Caleb had the incriminating evidence in his shower. This was more than suspicious. It's incriminating. With some prosecutors they want a slam dunk for their record instead of going after criminals. I dont know if that was the case, but I think they could have won this. They figured he will die before he gets out, but then there is still no justice for this young man.

A theory on Marilyn Bergeron. She got "recruited" into sex trafficking and was threatened that she and her family would be tortured and killed if she spoke up or reported it to the police. That could be the reason why she tried to get away from Montreal and later get away from her family, to keep them safe. If politicians/cops were involved it would explain why she thought she couldn't run away.

Being from Ireland aswell as Mike the Philip Cairns case is huge here with annual updates what was most shocking about this case is the fact that Philip was literally abducted in broad daylight on a residential area on his way to school somewhere that you would have thought unlikely to be kidnapped but it just shows that nowhere is entirely safe and its sad that his father has since passed without finding out exactly what happened to his son and who exactly was responsible

These stories are a great reminder of why you teach your children to scream, thrash, and make a scene...even if they don't think anybody is around. As an adult we know that you never go to a secondary location. If you do you are absolutely going to be harmed. I always remind myself that if you are confronted at least if you throw a fit and scream or run and the person attacks you will be found. If you leave with the person you may never be found.

Another crazy part about Jason’s disappearance is the neighborhood he was walking in wasn’t unsafe…kids rode their bikes around without supervision, ppl frequently jogging, etc. I never felt unsafe walking around that area - even as a solo female….plus there was ALWAYS ppl around, it’s close to downtown so there’s a lot of activity.

(16:21) This story reminds me of San Francisco's missing boy. In 1984, ten year old Kevin Collins, a boy from a large Irish-American family, went missing without a trace on his way home from basketball practice one evening. Missing posters with his haunting picture appeared in shop windows and on telephone poles for years afterwards. It marked a turning point in our history. I am the same age as Nicole and as I recall this disappearance sparked and initiative called "Child Find" or something like that, police started coming to our schools and finger printing us kids telling us and our parents it was for our protection. This was around the same time as the "Block Parent" system they came up with, signs would go up in strangers windows indicating a safe place if you were in trouble in your neighborhood.

There was only 4 pools in the area at that time, 2 of which were private and constantly monitored by the super. MY pool was open to pretty much everyone in the area because it was government housing. The problem is that highway (427) is a major artery to both Eastern/Western Canada as well as the U.S! Kidnapping happened quite a bit at that time.
