Mom made dumplings(momos) | Ivan touches snow for the first time

This must be the first ever video where we saw more of Odin than Richi! :D Also your Mum-in-law possess great cooking skills.

TRANSLATION IN ENGLISH Today we have prepared special noodles. Guess which type of noodles? These are corn noodles. Have y'all ever heard of corn noodles? Egg noodles too have similar color. We also have fish from yesterday which is very tasty and scrambled eggs eaten with soyabean paste. Its a simple breakfast . We eat scrambled eggs with noodles which increases the flavour . Guys I have observed the noodles eaten in breakfast is very simple , cooked in less oil , its eaten alongside with eggs, tomatoes and soyabean paste . This is very interesting. Noodles in lunch and dinner maybe a little heavy . Its not the same as you see Chinese food been prepared all the time. Its very simple, boiled noodles with simple side dish. Today mom is preparing dumplings called jiaozi, made of minced pork which mom minced herself with cabbage and celery. I will show you how celery looks like. Its looks like coriander but taste is very different. You cannot compare the taste of celery to anything and its steam is very thick. Babbu, what are doing? Playing with glasses.. who's glasses are these?... Come here .... Now mom has added tempering to minced pork with spring onion and ginger garlic . Also lots of vegetables goes into minced pork , which is already cooked, veggies has been bolied and minced. Vegetables amount is 4 times of pork but it looks less because water had been drained from it. Now mom is kneeding the dough , here in China wooden plank is used to kneed and roll the dough . Father placed a hat on mothers head just for fun, maybe he wanted mother to appear chef because she is on camera . The dough is sectioned, and mom will stretch it . As you can see the dough is not too sticky. The dough should be neither sticky nor dry to make perfect dumplings easily. And this is a very interesting style of rolling. The skin of dumplings is thicker on the centre and thin on the edges . The dough is not rolled in the centre, only outer corners are made thin this is because when dumplings are colsed the dumplings holds it shape. Same thickness is maintained all around. Main reason is that if the bottom of dumplings is strong, the dumplings will not break and stuffing will not fall out. Look mom is folding the dumplings so fast, within a minute prepared so many. I've tried this before, the main flavor in these dumplings is of celery. Celery is been eating in many countries. Celery hides strong smell of meat as it overpowers it. Today I told mom that i liked her apron its looking like kurta [indian traditional dress]. Mom is master of making dumplings, look how beautiful dumplings she prepared. So look mom made so many dumplings ,and now water is boiling and dumplings will be added to it. Odin has prepared sauce , with garlic, soya sauce, sesame oil and another oil not sure which, maybe mustard oil because its having very strong taste. Babbu look here ... Food is being served. I am holding babbu... Evans always wants to touch glass. Keeping bottle and glass away from evan is better. Evans shoes are been taken out. Now evan is going around father in law. Even is sitting on his garndpa while eating and watching videos, his grandma is on video call Today again we are barbecuing and having beer , I requested to do brinjal barbeque . Look at today's vegetarian breakfast Evan is messing up the food. He is having porridge made of foxtail millet He has learned to eat with a spoon despite we never teaching him. He learned using spoon just by observing us. Evan is also very fond of using chopsticks. Now that he can't pickup with spoon he is using his hand. Babbu show us how you eat , this is why I focused the camera on you. He learnt eating from spoon by himself 100% without our help. As usual after having meal, its Evans sleeping time. Babbu are you feeling cold? Evans face is getting cold, hence he is giving such expression . He is not understanding whats happening with him. My legs are starting to freeze yeah. Babbu come.. Are you happy? Mumma legs is frozen. Snow looks so beautiful but when touched by feet its melts and becomes mud. Our neighbors have built a nice garage using plastic and parked his vehicle . Such a good idea. Did you enjoy evan? This is where we store corn which is used to keep the house warm when in furnace . Charcoal is related to workshop maybe . There are also many coals. Okay today its a very cold day. Now its lunch time, .... ohh hoo Babbu.... keeps falling, evan is feeling irritated after waking up from his nap. So now food is served, special food is arriving. Evan is acting of drinking from cup. He is very fond of cups these days and keeps drinking water from cups . If we stops evan he starts crying, what to do ..!? he throws tantrums otherwise. Odin just brought chicken with noodles, I believe it is his favorites dish and this is father in laws speciality. You have already seen this dish before, this is our special .....what should I call it, my regular viewers know about it. Its our strachy noodles with variety of vegetables like raddish, cartots etc Odin is a little annoyed because Tabha [dog] keeps staring at our food no matter how much we feed him . Food looking so beautiful and vibrant. Taste is better than the looks Cheer for the new year guys . At evening mom is making something special. Now this will be fried. This is basically dough fermented with yeast, its sweet to taste. Its given shape and fried, its crispsy on outside and soft on the inside similar to dognuts. This is how its looks fried, its soft from inside like bread . So guys now I'll leave thanks for watching , will meet you soon .

Ruchi u are lucky to have a mother in law like her. U should take care of her sometimes... take her to a salon sometime for a haircut and manicure and Selfcare. She works soo hard.

I spent 11 years in Harbin before where is north of Jilin. The winter scenery is so familiar. Your parents in law cooks all kinds of local delicious dishes. Those are also popular in Harbin. North Eastern cuisine are similar.

Ruchi next time you may try to pour liquor for your farther in law(or your husband ), he definitely will be so happy. That is very Chinese style.(same tradition in East Asia such as Japan or Korea)
