Your mother was excellent, and played a great game. No wonder you kept the tape. Aside from the guy on the other end taking on the 3rd, final and closing rounds, I would say she held her own there in the runner up position. You must be very proud of her!!!
In the late 80's... it must've been a real kick in the head to go through all the rounds of contestant tryouts and tests, only to find out that you would be on the daytime show
@@jeffreyamernick9810 oh my I guess here in Canada if we win money like a lottery its tax-free but I think we still pay income tax on salaries and income
Correct. It was his request that Charlie O'Donnell take over for him but he was unavailable at the time because of his work with Chuck Barris Entertainment so M.G. Kelly took over for the next few months until O'Donnell was able to return in mid 1989.
@@mitchellries256 Merv Griffin was not impressed with MG Kelly (an indication of that was when Don Pardo announced the NY shows). None of the MG Kelly shows were rerun in the summer of 1989. The NY shows were rerun with Pat and Vanna announcing the new consolation prizes.
As far as I remember, for Consonants you should start with either the T or N first since those 2 tend to be in almost every Puzzle & when buying Vowels you should presumably go with either the E or A first.
Because Pat almost forgot to mention the apostrophe. He no longer has to mention punctuation marks in puzzles because they now appear automatically (and it’s been that way since 1997).
Have you ever been on WOF? I know a lot contestants who have been on it have said that their mom/dad were on it in the past. Heck, not too long ago, a contestant said that his fiancé was on it a year earlier. He won and got the bonus puzzle and she was there to congratulate him.
I think they started experimenting with the cash format around the spring of 1987 with the Big Bonanza of Cash. It was of course successful enough that they soon made it permanent on the nighttime show.
My late mother & I moved to Deposit, New York from East Keansburg, New Jersey 14 days later. This episode aired less than a month before my 5th Birthday.
John is very attractive! Woof! I could please him more than his wife could! I’d also let him take me to Garden State Plaza to spend his winnings! If I were in this bonus round, I’d have gone for the Continental Airlines First Class package! I’d take advantage of that!
1:21 is like “Jeopardy!” when they have a contestant from Ohio on and Alex might ask them where it is figuring they may have conducted a contestant search in Cleveland.
