Damned parasites. Leave the majestic mantis alone. Are they long enough that a mantis could grab them in its claws and rip them apart if it thought to do so? Because that would be awesome. I’m guessing probably not, but I figure I might as well voice the thought. I love mantids-they’re among my favorite kinds of bugs.

@@Armaldo468 well, they can vary from a very long and thick one to a short skinny one. But, i have to tell you, the parasite goes in by eating a dragonfly that was infested with the bawayby of the parasites. sadly the infected praying mantis can`t breed with other mantises ( is that right?) as it destroys the reproductive systems. it also can control the brain of the mantis, so that they can force the mantis into some body of water. The parasites breed by being in a body of water, so that is why when my friends put its butt part, it came out. Another thing, the parasite it REALLY hard so hard that a person could pull it and it would not break. That means even if the praying mantis did grab it, it would not be able to be cut. But a good thing is that once the parasite has fully exited the body of the mantis, it cannot go back in. Also, the whole [controls the brain into going into a body of water ] helps the environment. By making it fall into a body of water, the fishes and other animals can eat the mantis. Sure it isn`t a good story for you but it does help the environment.

Go figure dragonflies are another favorite of mine, so I find out these creeps violate not one, but *two* of my favorite bugs. It sounds like they’re basically tapeworms or hookworms jacked up on steroids and coated in titanium. Great. As if the world needed a heavily armored version of one of those abominations. There aren’t too many forms of life I truly despise, but all of the parasitic worms are way up there on my list of things that really don’t need to exist. It’s disturbing to think that the things are essentially as innocent as newborn puppies; they sure don’t seem like it. I guess they’re just cursed to be terrible creatures. Anyway, wow-mind control. That’s not something I expected to read there. I’m not sure whether to be impressed, disturbed, or pissed that they can do that. It’s certainly a dirty trick. Dark, too-there’s something very screwed up about stealing something’s body, controlling its mind, and making it kill itself. On that note, ever read Animorphs? It’s ironic that Cap mentioned it, as this creature sounds a lot like the Yeerks from that series. If you’re not familiar, the Yeerks are a sluglike, parasitic alien race with the ability to squeeze into a host’s ear canal, flatten themselves and seep into the crevices of the host’s brain, and take total control of the victim’s body. As the Yeerks are a warlike race, the victims are typically used for intergalactic infiltration and conquest. The Yeerk-controlled being is known as a Controller, and the unfortunate host is typically conscious and aware of everything that is going on but essentially a prisoner in their own body, witnessing all the terrible things they’re used for but being unable to do anything about it. Really dark, now that I actually put all this into writing. But yeah, a lot of similarities. Which is weird, as Animorphs has nothing to do with Japan: it’s the work of K.A. Applegate, an American author. (And it’s highly recommended by me, although as the book series is over 20 years old, it may be somewhat difficult to track down.)
