It’s so easy to be a bad mom! So very easy! People rarely give props to the good mom’s, they just act like it’s easy and it not,you have a lot of priorities that you have choose correctly on a daily life basis.
This is where being a judge is tough. I get the sense she is genuinely trying and in this the type of person that is "rehabilitatable" ...you can tell who is just saying the right things and have been repeatedly making poor choices. I think what went a long way with this was self reporting. And yes, lawyer is right, the boss asking for help really did aggravate the situation, otherwise it sounds like she would have just sat this one out, literally. Hopefully we dont see her again.
Agreed. In this situation you wait for the BF to get out of work since it's not going to be that long, or you order an Uber. The car can be driven home when BF is out of work. But what saved her is the self reporting because eventually it probably would have made it to the desk of her probation officer.
Not that far...Doesn't matter if it's a couple of miles, or you just shift into drive then right back into park. You are in control of that car. Without a license.
Does anyone know the reason why the defense and prosecution have changed sides in Judge Boyd's courtroom? On one case, she greeted a defense attorney she knew well and said he was on the other side now, due to security.
honestly, she _is_ taking ownership really well. she isn't passing blame or trying to minimize her decisions. she's using active rather than passive language. she chooses to leave out details that _could_ scatter the blame, like the fact that there was a reason she was more susceptible to social pressure when she drove without her license. her attorney had to bring that up. i don't know if i believe her attorney that her family tried to bail her out of jail and she told them no to pay penance - again, she does seem sincerely penitent; it's just that i can think of maybe three people ever who didn't find incarceration to be borderline unlivable lol - but i think she's on the right track with regards to personal growth. progress isn't linear. i hope she succeeds. if not for her sake, then that of her daughter. we rarely see updates on here where the defendant finishes out their probation or deferred successfully - i hope we do with this one.
Unfortunately, those who successfully complete probation rarely, if ever, are posted. I've seen one defendant return to thank Judge Boyd for the programs court ordered as conditions of release. She was also requesting early release from probation. She stated that the programs did change her in her decision choices for her life. She had complied with all court ordered stipulations in record time. Judge Boyd told her to return once she had completed half of her probationary sentence and she would consider the possibility of early release. I think the defendant had a 10 year probationary sentence.
