The first amendment does not protect you from violating someone else's rights it even is controlled as you cannot use the first amendment to tell others to inflict violence upon anyone.

The cartoon Bob's Burgers has an episode where it shows how stupidly easy it is to create a "church" and religion. When it's considered a religion, the government has to stay out of it. They've gotten to where they'll even ignore the rape and forced marriages of 12 year olds because "It's their culture and religion" every parent should be prosecuted and jailed. Not for a long time because most were brainwashed from infancy so you can't throw the blame completely on them. But religions like this, and Scientology need to be looked at by the government. The christian priests need to be looked at as well but that won't happen either.
First you have to explain to them what constitutes rape. Many of them have been, but they saw it as "normal." Many girls who leave will initially say they were never sexually abused, then later, after getting some education they come back around and say, "Wait! I WAS raped or molested!"

It happens in the US more often than you think. I live close to an Irish traveling camp in North Augusta South Carolina. they have been there for decades. The girls never finish middle school they get paraded in front of men at local venues and married off to older men. But for some reason even when social services remove children with proof that things are not right they never seem to stick. And they always get sent back. girls as young as 5 walk around in restaurants with full faces of makeup and high heels. if you get invited into their community to do work they will steal things from your vehicle. it pretty awful how a 16-year-old can get pregnant by an older man and investigation with child services gets started and they ferret her away in the night. And when they finally locate her and everything is proven correct they giver her and her baby right back.
Even if a mother tried over & over again she will not be granted custody let alone her freedom into the community until she gas completed her term of service to the mans house & the Lords house. After she is seperated from the husband her life is to continue serving God and perform traditional family roles as housekeepers, care providers, servants of God, yet still belonging to the man.

Law enforcement doesn’t get involved in most cases. If they are a judge will order for law enforcement to get the children alone and bring them to a secondary location where the other parent is. And if someone calls because people are physically keeping their children from them, like in this situation, then the parent who is requesting police aid has to have copious amounts of recent paperwork stating that they have full custody before police will interfere.
They don't really do shit. They don't like to get involved with cults. Besides, many of them are quietly and secretly supportive of the cult. Most places won’t do a damn thing claiming it’s “civil” and to take it back to court. Pretty much unless the judge would order the police have to help get the kids or they have to go get the kids and take them to the other parent very few places will cops actually do something. Only other situation they would almost always get involved is if one parent tries to take the kids outside the country without legal/physical custody or court order allowing it.
They grew up born into this whole mess and kept from going out into the better of society. It's not delusion, they were brought up this way, that's why many don't question what they're taught. There must be laws regarding the rights of prisoners to make phone calls and have visitors. I wish those laws could be overruled in certain cases. If Warren Jeffs had no possible way to communicate with the outside, I wonder what would happen. What might the leaders left behind do? Might they make some different kinds of decisions without their crazy prophet looking over their shoulders?
I wondered the same thing. There is absolutely an interest here in not allowing further contact between Jeffs and his victim pool. A no-contact order covering all FLDS families with minors (probably all) should have been issued by the court at sentencing and the prison should have been enforcing it all along. Local law enforcement also needs to bring SWAT out when a large group of people are refusing to abide by a court order and are instead engaging in custodial interference. Charges should follow. Sooner or later, they'll all figure out that the behaviors just aren't going to fly.

I know what that feels like I didn't grow up in a cult like these people did but I grew up in a family with domestic violence and the abusers Brainwashed the moms and women and our family to brainwash their kids to hate me and my mom cuz we spoke up against the abuse and I turned in my uncle Aaron to the cops and CPS for rap molestation and physical abuse and brainwashing and I was shocked at first when will it started disowning me and I I have a bone marrow condition called Mega blasdic anemia and they still disowned me like I've never met anything to them I know it's not their fault they're brainwashed but it still hurts I was brainwashed too but I was always the most rebellious and the least brainwashed some people are more susceptible to brainwashing than others and I'm less susceptible to it but when you grow up being told something over and over again and it it's Consciousness at first and you're aware of that you're learning something new and your Consciousness takes risks and learn new things but once you've heard it enough times and learn something enough times become subconscious automatic and you don't even realize you've been brainwashed when you're a kid and you grow up and until my issues I just had a meltdown cuz I kept attracting toxic women today and I learned in the domestic violence women's support shelter meetings that when you've been through trauma your aura attracts toxic people and you have to fix your aura and your subconscious is more stubborn and doesn't like change and once you learn something it gets really stuck in your head and automatic and it's really hard to change it even when you want to and I have to do Progressive guided hypnotism just to reverse the brainwashing on a daily basis it's a horrible feeling to be brainwashed and trying to fix it and struggling to not give in to guilt and blame yourself when it's not your fault that you've been abused when you've been told it's your fault it's the abuser's fault that they abused you not your fault and I feel really extra bad for the women trying to get their kids back and their kids are brainwashed to not want to go back to their mom that's been exiled or she chose to leave either way it's horrible I do miss my family but I don't regret leaving the family cuz I'm liberated and I am healing my emotional wounds and helping others know how to heal and I'm free from abuse at least from family I mean there's a lot of mean people in the world but I'm attracting good people to cuz I am working on fixing my Aurora but I say a special prayer for the moms that are trying to get their kids back I pray that they get all their kids back

I went to school in Utah and met lots of nice lovely Mormons, but these people I’ve only had two inactions with and they scare the shit out of me. I also find it tragic that Mormons are lumped into a group with these people.
I think the reason they aren’t immediately arrested is because the men are legally married to their first wife, but the wives after they aren’t so to the state they a technically married to only one person.
It is illegal to be legally married to more than person in most (I think all?) of the U.S., but many polygamous groups will have "spiritual" marriages instead, which isn't technically illegal, but can cause harassment from law enforcement.

He's part of the cult. I escaped. I lived with my kids. People have purposefully sent "sheriff's" to my house. I didn't want my kids going back to their father because he breached a contract. I love my kids. I still keep in contact with them even though we are geographically separated. I think my kids think I'm crazy sometimes. I view their pictures and cry.
