Ever since I heard someone say all the "woods" in Into the woods could also be heard as "woulds" I've started really appreciating the level of clever lyricism in this musical. What a genius.
What's really snagging me (and is the curse of basically all prerecorded tracks, but for this song in particular) is that there is just. Zero room for character choices/breath/etc. I think this song is such a moment (hehe) of discovery for the character and I wish more pauses were built in to let the singer breathe through it and really pay attention to what they're saying. But!! We make it work.
@Karastina In my interpretation, it's actually more of a struggle between the different lifestyles than a literal conflict over the two men. The Baker represents home, warmth, security, and expectations, while Cinderella's Prince represents fantasy, passion, and newness. The Baker is love; the Prince is lust. This song represents how the Baker's Wife had her taste of excitement through her affair with the Prince, but when she stops seeing him through rose-tinted lenses--when he leaves her to "slay the giant"--she values the Baker more than she did previously ("makes the "or" mean more/than it did before"). In short, it's not the struggle between two men. It's the Baker's Wife's revelation after her affair that she does love and appreciate the Baker; she just needed a touch of something different to remember that.

It's hinted at as well in the earlier song It Takes Two: At home I'd fear we'd stay the same forever/ and then out here you're passionate, charming, considerate, clever She clearly loves the baker, she just, as you've said, needed some excitement. It wasn't so much about who it was coming from.
