I just tried the lotion on a brown paper bag. It works. Nice. Thanks for sharing.

Try awagami paper. When I first bought that paper and researched it, they suggested dipping it in water with inks or paints and crumple. I put chalk paint in the water and maybe a drop of acrylic. It worked well. Awagami paper works great for this! It will hold up better! This is a cool technique, combining suminagashi with momigami. Thanks for sharing this cool idea!

@@CreativeRiseArt you too. I don't typically rise this early; I'm usually a night person, but it's slowly reversing.

If you have alcohol inks & want to try a cool abstract marbled effect, make a water bath a few cm deep & drop a couple of drops of alcohol ink on top of the water. Different colours & brands behave a bit differently, but the resin sets really quickly, so you can gently blow or gently swirl it with a skewer & then place your copier or other paper on top & the colour will stick to it & absorb in. I used normal copier paper & 200 GSM J Burrows Digital Copier paper & both worked well. The Digital Copier paper is treated with something to make inks more vibrant & it’s a smooth paper, but anything made for ink should be fine. Even just a slightly heavier gsm than normal copier paper so it holds up better to water. I dried them in a cool oven because it was night time, but in the sun or air drying should be fine. You can add more than one colour at a time & they will usually show as separate colours so you can get a multi-coloured marble effect, and you can try metallic & Pearl colours, but they will tend to blob & sink mainly, rather than spread like the other colours do. I never tried a mica spray though. They still look cool, especially if you break them up with a skewer, but you won’t get nice long streaks of metallics/pearl colours because they have more resin. The colour will tend to only stick to one side, so I sink the paper fully & try to get the colour that gets pushed to the side to stick to the edges of the back of the page, or I double dipped them. By dropping a few drops in one section of the water bath, I got a cool full rose bloom effect. The colours will be a bit different to how they turn out on yupo paper - I found them quite bright. But it’s a really easy way to get interesting marbled papers. I used Ranger Alcohol Inks, Jacquard Piñata Inks & a cheap Chinese set I bought via AliEx or something & I found that they tended to vary how much they spread & mixed or mingled by colour rather than brand. The cheapies actually worked well for creating a softer abstract spread, but I’d say try any you have. You could also try crumpling the paper first, as they had different patterns & only stuck where there were no bubbles, so when you drop the page in, plop it down flat on the surface, don’t slide it in, then sink the page from the middle to push any air bubbles out the sides. If you need to clean up any leftover ink, just run your skewer through the water & it will stick to it. Enjoy 😁 I look forward to seeing a video on it if you do try it

Awesome allisonjames2923. This sounds fun. I've been experimenting and will definitely look into creating a video based on your comment. I just love hearing about others experiences. Thank you for taking time out and sharing your knowledge. I will have to see what I have on hand and give it a try. So fun!! Have a great day!

I just played with a similar technique using coffee & then Distress Spray Inks & Oxides & am waiting for my pages to dry. Instead of uncreasing the paper when it’s wet, let it dry crumpled & the colour is more likely to collect in the creases. I’ve found a slightly heavier paper than copier paper works much better too. I’m trying some J Burrows 120GSM Digital paper. I also tried some Calligraphy paper that is smooth on one side & rough on the other & I thought that would disintegrate, but I have high hopes for it - didn’t tear at all & I scrunched it tightly! Will let you know if it works.

I, too, just saw a video about leaving your paper crumbled when drying. Great minds think alike! Thanks for sharing this info. I will be trying this, too! I also saw a video about using tracing paper. I think it becomes like Glassine paper. I haven't tried it yet but it might be something you have already done or would like to try too. Thank you again for sharing such cool ideas.
