Fleas are awful to deal with- so it's good you're getting a handle on it early on! I've never bathed a kitten that young before, but I always try to create a "ring" of dawn soap bubbles around the cat's neck before I wet them- because the fleas always run to the ears first and hide! The dawn ring creates a barrier that traps the fleas. I'm taking my first group of fosters to be spayed tomorrow. Love your videos!
So I just got 6 new orange tabbies (so cute!) that are five weeks old. They were COVERED in fleas. It took two hours to bathe them all and I'm praying I got them all. Did you have to ever bathe them a second time? Or were you successful in getting rid of the fleas after the first bath? Just curious.
isn't dawn for dishes? "tough on grease" and oil? the cats aren't drench in oil or grease. why not use regular shampoo for their health safety and safety of their organs? and why use floor water with some dish detergent to put all over the cat's face, nose and mouth? doesn't that damage and harm health of cat? cat eyes okay, cat smelling senses okay? cat can still taste okay?

You looked like an expert when you were washing the mama.
Sadly, if somebody told you you can throw this cat litter in the toilet, they were not true or they were just trying to sell it. I doubt it does not sediment at all. Such litter does not exist. Plumbing engineer here. Be carefull about that. Always better to use the garbage can.
do NOT throw litter in the toilet.. someone did that in my building..cost a fortune to replace the jammed pipes and it flooded a floor because they were gone..

One trick is to use a cordless heating pad called a snuggle safe. You pop them in a microwave for 5ish minutes and it stays warm for hours. You just pop it under a few blankets (so kittens don't burn themselves) Keeps their body temperature where it should be which is key for young kittens. I got mine on Amazon, much easier than having to put blankets in a dryer. 😺
well done bathing mama! that is no easy feat! i try to fill a few big jugs or mason jars beforehand with clean warmish water so that i can just dump them on the kitty for a final rinse, becuase turning on that water can freak them out so much xD those are some gorgeous kittens you've got there!

Cute video. Its a challenge washing a cat or kitten without getting all wet up. Cats dont like alot of water.I Know mine dont. But they need to be clean and well. god bless
In the future you can try getting Revolution from your rescue. It's safe for use in the moms. It's probably easier and less stressful on both your parts.
You have alot of patience, i would have just taken my cat to the vet to get him cleaned because mine would be all over the place. He hates water, good job :)

You chould wash under their chins because that's where the fleas are concentrated!And don't let them go outside because that's where they catch the fleas!
You should of let the mamma cat finish feeding her kittens before filling her bowl of dry food. It happened to me too with my cats first litter. I filled her bowl while she had just started feeding her kittens,a mistake I never made again. It is nothing serious,but you will end up with crying kittens. Great job though fostering those cats. I wish I had the room and funds to keep fosters.

Not to be over critical but, as I watched this wonderful caregiver doing this difficult bathing of the Cat, a bathing inspired out of love for the health of the Cat, it continually affected me that the caregiver should have tied her own hair back into a ponytail or bun, BUT to have her hair continually laying and hanging on her arms and on the tub's rim she could get some of the many fleas into her own hair. Better that she also protect her own health for herself and the continued ability to be able to provide her wonderful caregiving of the Cats.
Dawn took me and my poor 8-week old kitten FIVE hours to remove all fleas!!! 🤬 Do not waste your time with it. Use flea shampoo and encircle kittens’ neck with it FIRST!
Uh by the way (if you aren’t aware of this by now 😅) pretty sure the “flea dirt” is actually flea eggs- and one way to make sure you get the fleas off after the bath is to take some tweezers and a magnifying glass and just pick the fleas off-
Yes, I also noticed that regardless all the kitten's complaints while being bathed afterward the kittens showed how much better they feel, relieved from the fleas and the dirt.
I intend to adopt a Cat but before bringing it home I'm gonna take to a Cat groommer for bathing of it to kill any fleas and of course the germs and dirt. I truly don't want to risk the war of trying to bathe the cat myself.
Amber, she is bathing the cat so it cannot be avoided that the belly receive the soap also to kill the fleas, which is so very important, the belly must receive the soap, which is soon rinsed off.

God bless you for all you do.❤😘😘 The Kitten Lady (on RU-vid) states you should build a ring of dawn soap (lathered ring) around their necks which prevents the fleas from traveling up to their faces and eyes and then start sudsing them with the Dawn dishwashing liquid and combing the fleas out while the ring of Dawn soap remains around their necks until the end of bath. Also, did you ever think about purchasing the shower head on a shower hose to help rinse them well in the tub while propping them on a bath seat? Just a suggestion. You are awesome for doing this. I have some strays that are outdoor cats and I am sure they have fleas. I am taking them to the clinic this week. Hopefully that will get rid of all of their parasites.
You're not supposed to put water on the face. You get a wet rag and wipe the face. If you put water on the head near the ears, the water can get in its ears.
Also you have to scrub and watch for the fleas because they're hard to get rid of. I had to literally pull the fleas off his skin because they stick to their skin. Letting the dawn and/ or flea shampoo sit for a minute to loosen up the fleas.
Poor mama and poor babies. I know the video is old, but I just found it recently. I'm lucky I've never had to deal with fleas (my cat is an indoor only cat), but I do know how bad they can be, especially for kittens. Kudos to you for taking care of these kitties!
