Happy Sunday! Thanks again for all the great comments on the recent Mass Effect videos. This week I'm off to Gamescom! I have also set up Memberships as part of the channel now for any of you who would like to help support the channel further - it would be greatly appreciated and help me towards my goals. Thanks again ❤
Tali was a real MVP during some of those combat sections (Unlike poor Garrus taking a nap during the climax!) Also, fan analysis time: This Shepard is ruthless, as we know, but with the way you play her so far, it seems like she is someone trying to be better. That also might mean that the little renegade moments that you toss in are like her sliding back into a comfortable aggression that she already knows can get her results! So far, so fun!
_“I didn’t think this would cause a fight”_ - that’s why it’s recommended to prioritise points on Charm/Intimidate as the blue/red dialogue options let you sweet talk/scare people into backing down for a peaceful resolution. Without them, things tend to get bloody as you see.
I love how seriously you take this game, even whip out your notebook. For good reason though, there is so much lore here that people who don't pay attention later don't get why half the stuff is happening.
Did anyone else scream "NOOOOOOO!" when she went Novaria before getting Liara? Not that it really matters I guess, but you get unique dialogue when you take Liara with you to Novaria to face down Benezia.
You should regulary talk to your squad mates, it´ll be worth it :). Also the red/blue message options are renegade/paragon. You have more acessability to those the higher u lvled them with ur squad points on Shephard. Those options grant u positive/negative ways to solve several situations and fill ur "renegade/paragon" meter to reflect what playstyle you do. Generally speaking in the Mass Effect trilogy, EVERYTHING u do affects something within the trilogy. More or less.
In case no one's mentioned it : one of the upgrades you can get in the game are HEAT SINKS, which will help keep your weapons cool - with proper mods you can get a gun to fire essentially forever! On the flip side are incendiary rounds that are great against bugs but *raise* temperature! It can get a bit overwhelming, the amount of details in this game . . . I guess that's why ultra nerds like me love it!
Hi Lucy! I love when new players come across Mass Effect because imo it's one of the most incredible games/series out there. It's great to see you having fun - and I'm loving the way you're slinging a bit of renegade in there every now and then! I've just got a couple of tips for you. Make sure you're checking your 'equipment' screen and making sure you're equipping both Shepard and your squadmates with the best possible armour and weapons. You can also augment armour and weapons with upgrades to make them even more powerful - you can get an augment for armour that is a health regeneration module, for example. Additionally - just in case you haven't seen it yet - the 'unity' skill in your powers wheel is extremely useful as it enables you to revive your fallen squamates in battle. apologies if you've already seen comments like these! I just want to make sure you get the most out of your play through as you can. I'm eagerly awaiting your next upload!
Ought to take the investigate dialogue options. They’re not required to progress but they have more details which sometimes have clues to upcoming events.
What did Pressly mean about Nihlus. Saren was a spector a team-mate of Nihlus, on the sameside yet Saren shot him in the back. The counsel had a witness that saw it happen ( the dock worker) and you, yet they wouldn't believe your word or a witness to the killing until they had audio proof of Sarens guilt. The counsel stood back and let the Turians attack and try to subjugate the first humans through a relay they destroyed all but one human ship that made it back to Shanxi colony, they sent a force back thru and fought the Turians wiping them out. A second group of Turian followed the Alliance back to Shanxi they captured the colony by literally dropping asteroids or dead ships onto entire nieghborhoods killing large amounts of civilians until the garrison surrendered. The counsel turned a blind eye to the fighting because they thought the Turians had wiped out the humans fleet and that humans were not powerful and easily defeated. The Turians had only dealt with colony defence forces and exploritory expeditions to this point. Until an Aliance military fleet arrived and drove the Turians back through the relay. That was when the council realized that the humans were well equiped and well trained, capable of defeating a Turian force. Something few could do in counsel space, so they forced a truce. The counsel allowed the Turian agression because they didn't think mankind strong enough.
Hi. I'm enjoying your videos. You commented on the level of hostility Shepard received on Noveria. Although Noverians are usually a little bit hostile to Shepard, I did notice some variations from the dialogue I normally get for this quest. The only thing I can thing of is that you option to go to Noveria first thing (i.e. without doing any side quests at all), so Shepard has not gained any sort of reputation in the galaxy yet (which is something I've never done, although I have done Noveria as a first main mission several times). So, even after more than 35 playthroughs of this game, it still manages to surprise me with variations in the dialogue (even when some things are just done in a slightly different order in the game). I hope you continue to enjoy the game. I probably don't have to tell you that it is one of my favorites. 👍
I've actually NEVER done Noveria first in like a dozen playthroughs over the years. It's pretty crazy to see new things when i thought I'd seen it all!
Small tip: if you feel like you're stumbling into firefights all the time without meaning to, there is usually a blue or red option that can resolve things peacefully. They're usually the better options and they reward lots of paragon or renegade points. If the options are grayed out, you don't have enough charm/intimidate points in your squad tab
Mommy? That is councillor Troi from Star Trek:TNG Also, the Normandy is stealth because the heat from the ship is stored intetnally for the duration that it is stealth. So its probably a bit toasty in there.
There were more investigations options with the rachni queen.. very interesting stuff she tells shepard. Like how she survived as an egg left behind. If you want all informations and dialog, always exhaust the investigation branch (left side dialog options usually lead to more dialog/investigation) ..only then make your decision (because the dialog options on the right side end the conversation and the other dialog options are gone for good)
Im loving your playthrough, I know this game is overwhelming at the beginning, but 31:33 reading the codex for lore and understanding of the technology of this world might help 😉
when driving you can:1. dodge missiles by jumping up and 2. running over enemies is good ...even the mechs it prevents them from firing their gun(their only attack). 3. Wait, there was a 3.But I think you're finding these things out. Great play thru.
Only watching this edited version it was somewhat hard to tell exactly but I was able to see a couple of times when you brought up the proper screen that you and your squad had some level ups available, and probably some upgrades to everybody's weapons and armor. That being said it was an awesome fight you and Tali had at the end.🤘 Oh and um you mentioned you liked Joker, Garrus, Lorik, and Gionna. Ah ohhh😅
Yeah I usually cut that stuff out unless I make a significant change, but I think next time I need to leave some in so RU-vid viewers know I have done some upgrading! Haha I hope I haven't cursed anyone else!
God watching you vs Benezia reminded me of how hard that fight was for me the first time... I played on beginner and still died to her like over 20 times haha! She's a hard one! Nice to see how far I've grown from that, since my last play was nightmare and I beat her first time - what a difference of knowing how to use your abilities/weapons does haha! You did amazing on this mission, good job, especially with the missing medi-gel by the end! If it helps at all, I'd recommend choosing your abilities when you level and focusing on charm/intimidate [whichever you prefer, but it's better to stick to one or else you kind of waste points] as it unlocks other dialogue options and can get you interesting items or let you avoid fights! It is weird and confusing to work out how to level when you first play, but it'll start making sense eventually!:D
27:43 I wouldn't worry, I for some reason call myself a gamer but barely interacted with the systems my first time, you did fine! Needless to say, I'm about 20 playthroughs deep in Mass Effect now, I know them well lol
@@lucyjrobyn same! I miss the obvious so often... Good playthrough so far... Looking forward to seeing you react to the big events! Already terrible at choosing love interests 😅
Loved your reaction when you chose "I will have to remove you" and ended up in a firefight...mostly because I'm pretty sure that that was my reaction 16 years ago when the same thing happened to me, hahaha! Id gotten so used to the aggressive responses being on the bottom...
"I guess we'll see in Mass Effect 3 if the Rachni Queen comes back to kill us" WHEN I TELL YOU THE SCREAM THAT I SCRUMPT AT THAT (also I checked you got at least that far in the 3rd game before posting this)
Over the many playthroughs I've done, I've never had Capt. Ventrallis and his men attack me and I've seen this week 2 separate playthroughs where this happened. 😆 It's because if you talk to characters, they give you hints (and outright instructions) on what to do and where to go for the path of least resistance, not to mention get a clear picture of what is going on with the over all situation. You also get more XP the more info you get outta people and stuff you find/pick up. You also will get more sympathy/empathy for what characters are going through as a byproduct. Their actions will make more sense.
The original release of this game was a lot harder in a few ways, but one of the big ones was if you messed up the override decryption thing (time runs out, etc.), that was it. You couldn't try again. You'd have to use omnigel, if you had enough, to crack it. Sometimes it wouldn't even give you that option. It was even more nerve-racking.😄
@lucyjrobyn Heh, it was VERY frustrating. I got used to saving before every time I was going to decrypt something. Sometimes it'd be 3x in a row 'cause there'd be 3 boxes right next to each other.
I missed the live! Was editing stuff. Noveria is my favorite planet! Fantastic brutalist architecture, exquisite design, I think is much like Brasilia.
Garrus Vakarian: one of, if not the best sharpshooters in the galaxy. Favorite activity is calibrating stuff, and being easily killed in combat. In the first game anyways he goes down quickly. Set him up proper through the series and he’ll be a monster in the battlefield, especially in the third game
Enjoying watching playthrough. Keep them coming. Incase it hasn't already been mentioned, you can put weapons on a quick access key to swap between them on the fly so you don't have to go to inventory everytime to switch weapons. (If i recall you can only do that to 2 weapons)
Watching her play this, WITHOUT equipping her squad or herself with a full loadout, better armor and equipment, and neglecting the level up talent points, AND having the squad only use powers for defense and not for offense at the start of the game, carrying over through the entire playthrough. Garrus uses a lot of offensive powers and is nerfed when only on defense. And wondering why poor Garrus kept dying.... Boy this episode was painful to sit through. On the positive note though, I really enjoyed someone taking in the story seriously and enjoying it like a true fan.
The fight in the peek 15 garage is one of the hardest in the game. Also a tip if you would like to say the paragon or renegade lines then you'll need to increase your charm and intimidation skills.
Love watching this! Its wonderful to see someone play this blind for the first time. Almost makes me feel like I'm playing it for the first time too. The rachni are my top I hate to fight in ME1 quickly followed by krogan. So tough and scary
Garrus should be using a sniper 90% of the time. Put points into his sniping and he will help alot. Tali should be rocking a shotgun. That takes care of long range and short range fighting. then you can do what you like.
It should give you a little breathing room while you figure out your biotic and tech stuff. Garrus is squishy in close quarters combat. Tali's short range shotgun can keep him alive and Garruses sniper can take out or weaken enemies hiding far away protecting Tali I mean shepard.@@lucyjrobyn
@@lucyjrobyn Yeah, there's a finite amount of medigel and grenades you have and then you have to find more when you run out, so you need to be strategic about both of them. I remember I hardly used grenades the first playthrough, but that's because I kept forgetting to during battles. 😆
@@lucyjrobyn The game even told you to start from there. I just want you to experience the entire story properly. You can watch battle against Banezia with Liara in squad. The dialogue is worth hearing.
Telling me what I should have done in the past doesn’t make me experience the story properly though, just makes me feel like I’m playing the game wrongly when I thought it was just about making your own decisions and discovering their consequences - good or bad. I really do appreciate your passion for the game but the beauty of a first play through is not knowing the path🙏🏼
Hurricane Hillary just happened to us here in California. I just pulled 5 frogs out of my pool who were just swimming around. I also just noticed Shepard totally lied to the council just now. Shepard said the queen new why the racchi was wiped out. The raccni queen said she didn't know what happened in the war.
Im 51 minutes in and garrus keeps dying 😂😭 poor guy needs better armor. This games an RPG you can actually customize your armor and weapons. Give your armor better protection or guns a bigger bang.
Don't believe everyone when they say ME2 is much better, it isn't. Sure the combat is a bit janky, but the story is great if you can absorb all the lore. Ok, that out of the way and maybe this is a late in coming tip, but I actually watched this on Twitch yesterday and I wanted to yell at your twitch supporters, because if any of them have played the game, then they would have told you there is a MOD that can be inserted in your armor that regenerates health. You probably got it as a drop somewhere, but some vendors have them as well (you went right by the Hanar who was a merchant in Noveria, he had a quest for you as well). Also, Dr. Michelle at the med clinic on the Citadel sells them (that's where you met Garrus). That would have saved you a lot of headaches here. Lastly, invest points in skills like decryption and electronics, you're losing decent gear and resources along the way. No wait, lastly lastly (lol) look for the side quests, they can add lore and a lot of gear plus upgrades.
Well with that and the barrier I suggested in your first episode (of course later than your playthroughs on Twitch), you'll have no issues at all. I also forgot to mention, you can make omnigel by just salvaging all the gear you don't use. You'll find soon enough that you have a ton of money to spend, go shopping. lol @@lucyjrobyn
Very late on this but not commiting to paragon or renegade (which isn't equivalent to being evil, just very serious) will leave you with no options of finding work arounds in dialogue for different situations. Example being either paragon or renegade option would of made the two guards not fight you, rather out of respect or fear.
@@lucyjrobyn you'll get it, you just need to remember the first mission where you get shown how to do stuff or look up the buttons. I think you can also set it so that companions can use their powers as they see fit. It shoukd be in the options menu
i guess you should of probably changed your gear to the higher grade and stat gear, as well for your companions (also i think you could bring up the Quick slots which you could put your abilities on), but im sure someone already told you all about it
Weren't you the person saying how you hated pistols at the beginning of character creation? You've spent 3 episodes nonstop using a pistol lol my how the turns have tabled lol
@@lucyjrobyn Makes me feel very small! But on the other hand gives me hope that there's blue ladies, catbird bros, uncle lizard tank, and best girl in envirosuit waiting out there to be friends 😊
@@glenroberts9831 That's not a spoiler. She knows that Liara is the Matriarch's daughter because there was a whole dialogue about it when she got the quest lol.
If you want access to rhe blue and red talking options, you need to be increasing your charm/intimidate. Its an RPG, you should be maxing them out to get the most from the game. Not trying to tell you how to play, just pointing out that you arent getting the most out of it.
Thanks! I am a few days ahead now and have started to level up my charm skills, and now it's paining me watching these 'older' videos back and not doing it haha.
Yeah, I swear it didn't have that speed boost in the original game. It took SO long to get around planets and that's why I didn't replay the first game for a long time 'cause some of those planets were frustrating to get around. Not so much with the Legendary edition and so I like the first game's exploration much better now. Surveying is how I became a BILLIONAIRE! BWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA!!
You gonna stop fence sitting and actually pick a side, these greyed out dialogue options are making us sad XD I love this, "I dont do well when the combat is stressful" XD all combat is stressful in this game and the fact you just had to choose a MAIN mission to start of with, the panic and confusion were well done but youll pick it up in no time lm sure. Heres what you do, read and learn what weapons your squad mates specialise in and make sure they are using them during battle, seeing Garrus run around with a Pistol instead of a Sniper or Assault rifle is not gonna get it done. You have limited healing available, its noted in the middle of your HUD by the number below the + sign
Haha! I will I promise. Bare in mind, I recorded the first 3 videos before posting to RU-vid, so you'll see in Day 4 that I start putting some of the advice from RU-vid comments into practise (sometimes)
