All countries have guns and people with mental issues, but we have a culture of guns in our country that has been created, allowed, and promoted. Gun ownership is in our Constitution with the caveat that it's to provide for militia, only because they did not yet have a national military. Certain people in our government have used this to grift support from gun groups. As a country we keep giving lip service to the fact we need certain gun controls and a ban on weapons of war being sold and owned to and by our population for non-military use. Perhaps NOW that a POLITICIAN has twice been a victim, it will prompt our legislators to do their job and ACT on gun controls and remove weapons of war from gun shows, gun shops, homes and our streets. It won't be easy, but things worth doing usually aren't. Please America, please don't make this take more acts of gun violence to finally get this done. It can be done without taking away regular non-automatic hunting rifles or small non-automatic hand guns for home protection, I've always believed that. I am, however, rapidly getting to the point of saying if leaders can't get the work done, we should just take every last gun away.
