As a Benfica fan, I agree with you about the match, nothing special but we got the win. One thing Bruno Lage didn't do right today was the subs, those 3 at the end should have come on way sooner! Di Maria can't play almost 90min, he just can't handle it. As for Pavlidis, I think it's more a problem of not getting the ball, because he was getting it in the pre-season and scoring goals for fun, we have to be patient. I didn't think Otamendi was that good, I think in their goal he freed up too much space for the ball to slide in between. Awfull debut for Kabore aswell, he didn't do anything right
@@GGM28 he started the pre-season very well and gained a place in the starting 11, but as the season started his form dipped and he went to the bench in the last 2 matches with the new manager. It's not all his fault, the entire team as been poor, it's hard to really be great in those circumstances. Still, the fans love him and there's a lot of hope in him
Benfica is a complex one this year I feel like what benfica lacks is not only a better collective team on ball but also references, we sold Neres, Rafa, João Neves and Marcos Leonardo in this window, you could argue 2 of these players were clear references for us, and yes we have better depth than last year which we had to play with a lot of players out of position like Aursnes at LB/RB at times and we never had a solid midfield two, but i still think that we lack the x factor at times, we have a solid squad with depth but we still cant really play a good possession football, we mostly have strides of like 10/20 minutes of good ball and then we just fall off the game completely, no intensity and we usually just hold the results, Lage needs time i think he can get a better football out of us than Schmidt, he already has made some good changes with having a midfield of 3 with Rollheiser there, but this game against cverna zvezda i think he was not great with the subs since he only subbed Di Maria at 80 and the Aursnes for Rollheiser sub didnt really work out, he subbed really late and also not really well, the Bah injury also sadly made the game harder, Kaboré seems like a decent RB but he isnt used to playing in Benfica yet and really struggled in this game (its his first with us) and i think that changed the game a lot in the 2nd half, either way i still think we are really far away from Sporting's level and i think even Porto has a better team than us this year sadly, hopefully Lage can fix up the problems with time but i'm still not sold on it
As a Milan unfortunately i'm not surprised. You get Fonseca to lead a team that last year lacked character and mental strength ? What a surprise it failed... Tuchel would be very good but ,ost unlikely with this ownership Sarri is a good manager but he needs time, if you get him now we will onky see the results on the long run, should have got him in June. Allegri unfortunately is a possibility Terzic fits the budget and "international profile" bullshit that this ownership likes Tudor is the most likely for this cheap ass ownership who dosen't invest unfortunately. We will see but i'm not positive it's gonna be a good choice.
Brugge did good played well but the final ball was not good enough most of the time. Also The slight injury for Seys maint we had to sub in Sabbe who is not fit enough just returened for injury and played min for us ,was something that caused or defense to lose a bit of control. Also our defense is still very young so they lack a bit of compusere and instruction givers .
As a defender, the thing I hated the most about artificial turf was the turf burn. All over the upper sides of my legs every single time I slide tackled.
As a Celtic fan, I feel like people make a lot of that Atleti game, but we conceded an early red card and goal against a very good side. We do have some more easy fixtures so just need to make sure we don't take a hit to the confidence and maybe steal a point or two in the upcoming hard games
