Alright, Monarch crew it’s the finale episode of season 1, old friends reunite, father son bonding, and the Shaw crew being sucked into a rift, that would put a smile on Helen Hunt’s face
We’re going back to the future!... as we get into Episode 10, the finale of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters…
Hollow Earth time, or rather a completely different realm, the world between worlds, not.. not the weird Star Wars thing in Ahsoka, but Axis Mundi, last week’s episode’s title. So you, me, anyone wondering how the hell none of the Shaw crew died due to the sheer gravitational pull and not using the Godzilla vs Kong HEAVs that were needed in that movie, don’t worry the writers explained it away. This is essentially pieces of our earth and Hollow Earth smashed together, as we find out Keiko in fact did find the wrecked site of Operation Hourglass, and repurposed the tech to send a distress signal.
The most heartbreaking part of the episode though is Shaw and Keiko’s reunion. Obviously it’s been roughly 56/57 years on Earth, but Keiko believes it’s only been 56 days. She has no clue about the time dilation down there, where one day equates to 1 year, and her seeing the old Shaw, learning about her husband Randa, who was no doubt doing all of his Hollow Earth research to find Keiko, and how Hiroshi is now an old man, is a straight up interstellar Cooper talking to Murph heartbreak at its core.
Keiko surprisingly comes to an even keel fairly quickly, realizing it all makes sense because of the gravitational distortion, warping time and space, meaning that yeah Shaw and the other’s are 100% telling the truth. But now they gotta get the heck outta there before even more time passes on earth. So she and Shaw, McGruber the Operation Hourglass wreckage, reversing the signal, to in theory latch onto the space warp stream of a titan, much like Operation Hourglass, and ride their coattails to the surface.

Since Shaw got left behind, he is not dead, Keiko can age up outside while Shaw spend a couple months stuck where Keiko was and they can finally end up together, closer in age, when reunited again.

@@asifscool2811 Decided to rewatch Kong: Skull Island and the tone is sooooo different. It's hostile and bloody compared to where the Monsterverse is now. I hope season 2 of Monarch can blend that hostility from Kong: Skull Island into the show and the Monsterverse can add a bit more of that hostility and grit back into the movies.

In the GvK novelization, it’s revealed Apex became a contractor for Monarch for many years (Apex probably helped Monarch built facilities like the ones at Castle Bravo and the Kong Dome) and was hinted at possibly playing a part of the Oxygen Destroyer’s creation with Monarch and the military providing one of its components (maybe Ren was part of it which would make a nice homage to the 1954 film). They also built facilities at the same area where Monarch has there facilities which is probably the deal Verdugo made with Monarch and whatever was mentioned above. As for the double agents within Monarch, that was originally going to play a huge role in GvK with the soldiers accompanying Maia, Lind, Andrews, and Jia revealed to be working with Apex the whole time making Maia turning against them bigger but those scenes were cut.

Not only that... Maia Simmonds on her father's orders, used an Orca-Z device (the next gen of Emma Russell's invention), to control Godzilla into a number of aggravated worldwide attacks on solo Monarch bases which didn't have Apex facilities nearby. Walter Simmonds used these these attacks as a pretext to justify building Mechagodzilla. We didn't witness the half of how Machiavellian Simmonds had become and the reason why... the death of his wife at Apex' office in Boston during Godzilla and Ghidorahs' fight there. All of that stuff and a lot more like Simmonds and Ren first meeting a despondent, drunken Lind in a dive bar, was left on the cutting room floor as well. Instead the movie gave us a paper thin motivation about Simmonds' ambition to use his Mecha Titan to destroy the Titans, restoring Man as Earth's alpha species.

Only thing I notice is in 2019's King of the monsters.... When monster Zero was doing the mass titan call... they stated Skull islands titan had escaped. I wonder how that played out before Godzilla vs Kong

So here is the thing... GZ came to Axis Mundi because they turned the machine back on that calls in Titans. I really do think that when GZ got there, he noticed right away who the humans were and GZ threw the body of the Ion Dragon into the rift on purpose. Knowing it would re-open the rift and pull them in so they could escape. Also, I dont think Shaw is dead. He and GZ were still there. Shaw could have somehow hitched a ride with GZ after, as we all know GZ makes his way back to Earth before the events of KOTM. So Monarch season 2 could be all about the events of Skull Island pre-KOTM as we have 2 years to mess around on the Island with Kong and crew. We can see how Apex loses control of Skull Island to Monarch durring the events of KOTM. And to end season 2 of Monarch, just as the events of KOTM start... and GZ enters the picture again, maybe for season 2s final, we will see Shaw come out of a portal with GZ.

These appear to be the monsterverse story timelines and release dates in ( ): 1952/1954/1955/1959/1962/1973/1982: Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters past timeline (2023) 1943/1973: Kong: Skull Island (2017) 2014: Godzilla (2014) - aka G-Day 2014/2015/2017: Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters modern timeline (2023) 2019: Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) 2024: Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) 202?: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024) Lee was around 27 in 1952 so Keiko was probably around the same age as him back then. That would make Keiko around 34 in 1959 when she fell into Axis Mundi. Hiroshi was around 10 in 1962 which would make Hiroshi around 30 in 1982 and around 65 at the end of season 1 / 2017. Lee lost around 20 years in Axis Mundi between 1962 and 1982, so Lee was around 37/57 in 1982 and around 70/90 in 2015. Keiko lost around 57 years in Axis Mundi between 1959 and 2017 so Keiko is around 34/92 in 2017.?

Wasm't King of the Monsters and GZ v KK already touched up on the whole Apex and Monarch bit? How they were working in unison until they branched off? I mean the entire premise of the mother being a monarch researcher then betraying everyone to wake up Ghidora as well as taking Ghidora's remains to make mecha GZ should be a big give away.

I thought the flying cars and robot butlers was a mod to The Jetsons (watched it way back in the day when I was a young pup). If Lee hangs out in Axis Mundy, it'll give Keiko some regular earth time to age so she'll kinda sorta be closer in appearance to Lee...just thinking out loud .

It had promise but once again Anna Sawai and Kiersey Clemons managed to crap all over the show all they can do is act like spoiled pissed off lez brats. This diverse cast managed to even drag down and trivialize the great Kurt Russell. Not worth watching
