Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters reaches its epic conclusion for season 1! This episode was AMAZING! Filled with wonderful payoffs, exciting action, and the most emotional character moments in the entire series, this episode represents the peak of the MonsterVerse in so many different ways. This was a fantastic return to the heartfelt and dangerous world that was the early days of the MonsterVerse and I am so hyped to have gone on this journey!

My favorite characters in this show are *Keiko, Tim,* and *Lee Shaw.* The standout for me though, was *Keiko.* I hope we will see her again in the *MonsterVerse.*

Correct… apparently. There was no time distortion experienced by the characters in GVK when they accompanied Kong to the Hollow Earth. When they all returned to the surface, the same length of time had elapsed.

It was pretty hype when Kong said “It’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsterin’ Time!” to end the show on a title drop. Also, there’s no way old Shaw weighs heavier than his younger self holding onto a pod built to carry *FOUR* people but I guess it’s a way to save Kurt Russell for future seasons.

If they do a season 2 i need the writers to give cate may and kentaro better writing and development, may seems like she was meant to be there simply because of her ties to apex, once Cate's ptsd stopped being a thing shes kinda just there, they completely forgot about kentaro until the end of ep. 9. Cate and mays possible relationship would be fine if may never had relations with kentaro, ik yall just met but still seems a lil fucked up to date your brothers ex.😂 Overall they felt like pointless tag alongs they added no real value once they found out their dad was still alive. So hopefully they polish them up a bit if they comeback for season 2. Lee,keiko,bill randa & tim 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾 all solid. Hiroshi is a mixed bag, his acting was great and i like that he's complicated but you still dont know why he hid his families or why he changed his mind about the portals after locking lee up for it ?! Why didnt he try to get lee out ? Im sure he wouldve helped him. They got no reconciliation/resolutions whatsoever for some these of the personal stories. I really like show but its hella frustrating at the same time. Also kinda weird we got no serizawa or dr. Graham

Axis Mundi is probably a cavern in between the hallow earth and the surface world. It probably has tunnels leading into the hallow earth somewhere but also has portal points to the surface and to the hallow earth!

Every scene with Lee and Kieko were outstanding and were some of my favorite moments in the episode. I loved how Lee could barely keep a composed voice when he mentioned it was 33 years ago to Kieko and I adored Tim and his determination to do the right thing. I wish we got more of him. The CGI and soundtrack were so good too and of course we got a Godzilla monster fight. Every shot of him and the Ion Dragon were stunning and displayed how his melee fighting style should be utilized. Gruesome, ruthless, and versatile, which makes me hope that we get some of that in New Empire. The show wasn't great but it did have some moments and hopefully we get a lot more of that next season.

Wow. That was cool. Lots of emotional moments, and a short BUT EPIC kaiju battle. Great soundtrack, acting, good CGI. Overall a pretty good episode, on my favorites. I need season 2 NOW! 9/10 The series as a whole is pretty good imo, lots of ups and downs but the ups hit really hard. I liked the world building, but I really disliked the continuity errors, I feel like if they didn't exist, this show would be really close to perfection. Score for the whole show is 8/10 maybe 9.

I'd say overall the show is an 8/10. There were plenty of continuity errors and certain unnecessary themes that made the audience question the future of the show, but overall it wasn't terrible. The finale was the crown jewel in my opinion.

Incredible fight scene. The way the movements flow into one another is unlike anything we've ever seen since 2014, feels super raw and animalistic like I think it should. It's a lot like watching a Harpy Eagle (try to) fight a Black Bear. I'm not a fan of the very choreographed "blow for blow" style of the later Monsterverse, where it feels like they're trading moves in a Mortal Kombat game.

I think May is sticking around for the Apex aspect of the story, she's our initial connection to Apex, and I wonder if she'll be the willing participant, the dissenting voice, or maybe even a Monarch mole? NEW Axis Mundi theory: It's a waypoint in the path to the Hollow Earth, like a rest stop on the highway. I think the Monsterverse badly needs a lead creative officer, like a Dave Filoni/James Gunn/Feige type, and to create a bible that all projects adhere to.

I think the travel between the surface world, Axis Mundi, and hollow earth is why the HEAVs went through two portals in GvK when they traversed down there

My interpretation of Axis Mundi and its time dilation: Axis mudi exists as a separate realm from the hollow earth. Every portal leads to both, but only the Heavs and titans can navigate their way to the hollow earth due to the extreme gravity inversion as mentioned in GvK. In this show, they don’t get passed the inversion point, spitting them out in axis mundi instead. Extreme gravitational anomalies have the ability to cause time to run slower based on proximity to the anomaly. For example the black hole in Interstellar. In this case the anomaly is the inversion point. Axis’s mundi’ s proximity to it causes time to run slower in it than on the surface or in the hollow earth. This is why it’s only been 57 days for Kieko, why Shaw shows up in the 80s, and why the pod has only been there for weeks. Because they have, from their perspective. Just wanted to share my thought process as to how I think all this works.

I noticed that they didn't really make it clear where they actually are, and a lot of people are getting confused. Keiko states in this last episode and seemingly confirms that where they are, Axis Mundi, is not in fact The Hollow Earth proper, but an intermediate pocket or void within the barrier layer that the HEAVs travelled through in GvK. This explains the weird gravity and the time dilation. I imagine that layer being a bit like a sponge where there are tunnels straight through but also dead ends and air pockets where, like on Skull Island, The Hollow Earth pokes through and populates.

I liked that they kept 2024 being the first time humans made it to H.E. and this being Axis Mundi because you see creatures from both HE and Earth. They still need to set up KotM's multiple outposts, while there were only like 8 in the show, Serizawa said that there were now 18 in KotM. As for all the leftover plot points, I agree with you on seeing more in S2, either in flashbacks or improving the connection to KotM.

It’s insane that we now have three “realms” in the Monsterverse. Remember, Keiko states that she doesn’t believe that they are actually in the Hollow Earth, but that they are in a space in between it and the Surface. We have the Surface, where the more well-known and established Titans, such as Behemoth, Scylla, Methuselah, the MUTOs, Godzilla, Mothra and Rodan live. The Hollow Earth, where Kong, Shimo, the Skar King and the Warbats reside, among other creatures and Titans both known and unknown. And in between them we have the Axis Mundi, where creatures such as the Ion Dragon can be found.

They are in 2019. There was a two year gap between the time Lee, Cate and May went through the portal in Kazakhstan and the scenes with Kentaro and Hiro afterward. I didn't catch that either but apparently there is a song from 2017 playing in a scene at a Monarch facility.

it's not "thrown into the future". It how gravity effects the passage of time, and thus the graviticv anomalies cause time to pass differently in the Hollow Earth. Much the way being on the worlds around the Black Hole caused temporal anomalies for the shuttle crews in Interstellar.

I loved this episode too, Keiko was absolutely amazing, seeing her reaction to Shaw and everything else that happened made me tear up, I’m glad Shaw and Keiko got to reunite, the fight scene was great I wish it were longer too but Godzilla showed why he’s king of the monsters. Overall I really enjoyed the show, wished they worked on the continuity errors, but I hope season 2 happens and some of the movie characters show up that would be awesome.

Keiko was and is an important character for Monarch, I’m glad she’s in current time (2017) with the rest of the gang, and Lee I think he’s alive and he probably was suck in and maybe end it up in another place….but even if this was the ending for Lee it was a beautiful ending on the hands of Keiko, overall beautiful series, I’m crossing my fingers for season 2!!!

I don't think Apex is "evil". I think they're right to want to make a counter for Godzilla. They just didn't anticipate what would go wrong by using a Ghidorah skull.

Easily the best episode of the show. Not just because we ACTUALLY GOT monster action. It was the most cohesive, compitent episode so far. Loved the incredibly one sided fight between Godzilla and the Ion Dragon.

Enjoyed the final episode and the entire season. There were several instances that I didn't care for or I didn't think made sense but with approximately 9 hours of Monsterverse content, I don't think anyone was expecting perfection. Looking forward to season 2. I'd love to see some characters from 2014 and/or KOTM make appearances. Yes, I know KOTM didn't happened yet.

Just a thought: what if the reason Kentaro didn't ask about Shaw is because Shaw had just been found at a different place. And Kentaro was so happy to see Kate & May he didn't mention it, but figured he would tell them later. That would be so cool to see the whole team all together right at the beginning of the season! 😁 Won't probably happen, but can't wait to see!

7:20 They weren't being thrown through time homie, it's time dilation. It's nothing to do with how you enter and everything to do with where you are. Think of it like the edge of a black hole (like Interstellar) gravity can dilate time in such a way that it can slow the passage of time the closer you get to a black hole. Considering Axis Mundi is sandwiched between the wider hollow earth and the surface world some gravitational fuckery makes sense. Also the numbers line up with the estimate that one day = about one year. They were down there for about two days and two years passed on the surface. Keiko was down there for 57 days altogether and that's close to how many years passed top side. Shaw would have entered in what would have been 3 days for Keiko at a different location and the pod would have been sitting there for over a month aka "a few weeks". I think at some point you started overcomplicating the explanation for yourself but the time dilation in the show is pretty straightforward. Anyway I thought the show was pretty great overall and I was never bothered by them not being too beholden to the older stock footage continuity for the show. I do think if we get another season it'll be easier for things to stay continuous because they'll be working with more actual movie footage and lore.

What if the other wormhole tunnel is hollow earth and our cast managed to get sucked through the axis Mundi one on skull island and Shaw went through the other one which could remove the stakes of another time loss and could get pass the gravity inversion and vile vortex and Shaw is just chilling In hollow earth

Season 2 Lee shaw should be more like the main character in godzilla Hanna babera series where he finds a signal to call godzilla at will and to keep the monsterverse in check he destroys the work of how too cause obviously humanity will turn it into a weapon. Therefore he gets a proper kill off and season 2 time frame needs to be 2017 to 2019 before the events of kotm which completes godzilla 5 year disappearance

@@kitkat8242 She sold her friends out to cover her own tracks and never really made up for it, was angry and condescending towards the Randa kids and to Tim the whole way, and even though many people risk their lives to save her numerous times throughout the show, she doesn't seem to be appreciative of the fact. I think it's also worth noting that Monarch had to give AET/Apex something (presumably tech), which leads to the creation of Mecha and the deaths of countless people in China during GvK in order to bail May out from being locked up. I don't think that's a fair trade and she should have known that whatever price was paid was too high, considering the fact that she risked her freedom to stop AET. Ultimately, she's as flawed as many of the other characters in the show but unlike those characters, May didn't show much growth as the show progressed which made it very difficult for me to open up to her. I think the show would have been better had it followed the Randa kids as the two leads of the 2015 timeline, without May.

Holly shit, Monarch was great! It has it's problems, it's not perfect, but it did such a great work, it was entretaining, it was hype, it was incredible for the monsterverse world building and it gave us the best human characters in the monsterverse, characters I want to see again. It also achived what I thing the original Godzilla 2014 wanted to do, to gave the audience the impresion of being tiny beings in a world of Gods. Godzilla's awakening in the desert and that last scene of everbody just... running into the bunkers becouse The King had come to show his dominance was magnificent, a few minutes made both King Kong and Godzilla look like the unfatomable, unstopable, unrivaled Godlike heirs to the throne of the world that they are. Definitevly want a second season, and altought I know GodzillaxKong is going to be showa era dumb wrestlemania fun, I'm still super hyped for the future of both, the monstervers and Toho Godzilla moving forward. This is without a doubt, the best time to be a Godzilla fan, both for the great human drama and for the spectacular monster battles. All this just to say... when Godzilla vs Gamera?

So great that they have Apex as the big bad of the show. Will be very interesting to see how that storyline develops and if Tim Hiroshi and Kentaro are either playing Apex as a means to an end or if they’ve truly bought into their views on Titan control. Beautiful scenes between Keiko and Shaw, so great to finally see them together again. Kong looks better the older he gets, his scene, albeit short, was really cool. Godzilla absolutely stole the show for me. Absolute savagery against the Ion Dragon, it never stood a chance. Roll on season 2!!!

I appreciate digging into it - but I do think youre overcomplicating the hollow earth/axis mundi stuff. I dont think theres really anything confusing or anything that really demands more explanation beyond what they gave us. The characters are clearly just theorizing, it doesnt come across to me like any of them truly *know* what it is. I wouldnt take the discussion about dimensions or realms too literally lol. There being more mystery surrounding exactly how it all works isn't really a plot problem.

Did i watch the same episode as everyone else? It was clearly stated by shaw the the land between hollow earth and the overworld is where the last 2 episodes take place 1 day is equal to about 2 years In GvK the pretty much skip straight to hollow earth so there is no time dilation It was definitely implied that the longer you spent between worlds the more time will pass So it does not seem to have anything with how you get to, in or out

I think by the time we get to Godzilla versus King Kong 2, all of these characters will be dead. i know Tim will be dead after Season 3 considering what happened with Apex in Godzilla vs. King Kong 1.

Axis Mundi seems to be a halfway point between the surface level and Hollow Earth level. However, that does not really explain how the Ion Dragon and Godzilla are in the halfway points considering they'd likely go past it traveling from surface to Hollow Earth center, but whatever. The series as a whole is mediocre for me. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't what I expected either. I hope season 2 improves on the series and fixes some of the plot holes.

Axis Mundi is perfectly like don’t get what is the fucking issue, if anything it makes more sense now why time is the way it is there compared to the hollow because in the films it clearly wouldn’t make sense. And besides some this like a in between worlds is interesting and flat out awesome. And besides there literally dark empty space when the heavs enter the hollow earth so that can literally be a space between worlds just we don’t see. Besides we don’t even see the hollow earth either so I don’t get why this is issue and it isn’t a pacific rim issue and even close to it

Only gripe is that my girlfriend whose name is Keiko says you're mispronouncing her name and it's 2 syllables not 3. I play your videos right before I go to sleep and she hears it and gets annoyed so she annoys me. lol

I loved this whole series but I’m gonna be honest I did not like this episode. The fight was cool and the Keiko and Lee stuff was cool but it was too fast paced and so many things weren’t resolved. Many characters also ended the season with no arch or resolution to their character and Lee Shaw did not need to make that sacrifice
