We started the morning early with some keen enthusiasm from the girls, Elle was polishing the mini bike whilst Evie was getting the animal feed ready with Boston’s supervision.
Charlie’s favourite day of the week is Monday, it’s when his mates return to the farm. He was waiting for mum this morning, he took off without me at a pace that said “See ya, I’m off to see all my friends!”.
Everyone was super excited to be here. Catch up with their pals. Roll in the grass. Jump in the dam. So much to do.
We headed off to the bush and checked the pool heater on the way... 32 degrees Celsius... perfect! Today is the last day of Winter for us and it was a beautiful day, not long now before the big sports pool is opened again.
Tangy did her 360 excited donuts by the quad, she’d beat us all their today. It sure is her favourite.
Boxer siblings Torben and Bodhi are lightning quick and real contenders when racing the bike.
When the drone comes out Solar is pumped! It’s her favourite activity and she wants to catch that pesky metal bird!
Little Nova the Boxer has become a real awesome swimmer. Today she swam out with her pack to chase the big ball in the dam. She was so happy with herself and her little face was beaming with pride, loving being a part of the pack.
In the pool this afternoon, Nala the Kelpie took to her favourite pool position. Spartacus is really taken by the rubber duck so much so poor Bandit has lost his play mate but all was right in the world when the duck sank to the bottom and Sparty AND his mate Franky both joined Bandit in his poolside games towards the end.
At the end of the day, when everyone was about to head to the bus, Bandit and his understudy Nova knocked on the door. Nova has the routine down pat now, she’s a quick learner. While Bandit settles into his armchair, Nova headed to the girls playroom. They’ve got their priorities right.
Farm Dogs in the Spotlight...
Franky the Vizsla is almost 3 years old and has been coming to the farm since he was 7 months old. We’ve known many Vizslas and they’re always a high energy dog especially in their prime at 3 years old, but Franky kind of takes it to another level. And if you know Luke, he loves that. Luke really feeds off the dogs positive energy, and Franky sure has truck loads of it.
Franky is good at everything. You know how last week we talked about Bandit liking to take new activities slow and learn how to do them first and master the game before he fully commits? Well Franky is the opposite. Franky doesn’t ask questions, he just does. He’s a man of action. He doesn’t want to waste time, he’s just thinking about how fun it’ll be. He’s fast, he’s agile, he’s a great swimmer, diver, runner. He’s got a nose on him that’ll search out any treat or toy or Uncle Luke in a rabbit suit.
And Franky is affectionate. He loves as hard as he plays. Big and all in, no holding back. He gives whole body cuddles and full face kisses. He’s a dog that gives you his all in everything he does and how could you not love that??
