Welcome to the lounge for an unexpected yet captivating morning at Victoria Harbour in Victoria BC, Canada. This video wasn’t part of the plan, but as my friend and I strolled along the Songhees Walkway on our Monday walk, we couldn’t resist the bustling activity in the harbour. What started as a simple walk to get in our 10,000 steps turned into an impromptu recording session. We witnessed classic boats gracefully exiting the harbour, seaplanes taking off and landing, ferries arriving, and water taxis bustling about, all under the vigilant watch of the harbour patrol. The patrol even had to spring into action to keep a couple of wayward boats in line. I left the original audio untouched to preserve the authenticity of the moment. This video is as real as it gets-no script, no microphone, just pure, unfiltered harbour life. I hope you enjoy this bonus content as much as I enjoyed capturing it.
I want to take a moment to acknowledge that this footage was captured on the unceded territory of the Lekwungen people of the Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations.

@kenbarthSimAV8tor, it was so beautiful, I couldn't help myself. The only edits I really did, I put transitions in. It was truly magical. Other than the Clipper and a Twin Otter, everything was pretty much a classic classic. Thanks Ken for your always kind words and support, I am truly grateful. Best....Corrie

@user-mb9mo8ku8w, The Coho is such a beautiful way to get to Port Angeles and travel back to Victoria. Victoria harbour on the Coho is magnificent. It still astounds me how this big ship can back up and exit the harbour, even in vicious winds. Thanks for stopping by, I am truly grateful for your kind words and support. Best....Corrie

A virtual smorgasbord of magnificent vessels. I didn't know that the pathway was named after David Foster. Nice tribute to a fantastic musician/producer.

@Astromechy, the harbour busyness caught me off guard, in a good way. Seeing the boats come in was amazing, to see the boats and seaplanes leaving was pretty spectacular. The David Foster Pathway is one of my favourite walks. I am truly grateful for your always kind words engagement and support, thank you. Best...Corrie

@mjbirdsong21, Thanks for your always kind words and support, I am truly grateful. It was beautiful chaos! I am just editing the more difficult video of the classic boats coming in this past Friday for the Classic Boat Festival. It was like watching a well choreographed classic boat ballet as they danced around the harbour waiting their turn to take their slip, or to raft up. I didn't count how many boats I captured, it was at least 40. The video I am editing is over an hour, I tried to trim it down to half, but I couldn't do it. I should have it finished soon, it was a lot of happy work. Best...Corrie

That was a nice treat Corrie. Was that rush hour at the harbour?

@frankthomas855, Oh my goodness, this was rush hour at the harbour! The action was as long as this video, it was intense! I was so unprepared....lol. I go for a walk every Monday with a dear old friend to get our steps in. I usually put my camera away and ignore the seaplanes when we go walking. I made an exception today. My friend used to be a volunteer at the classic boat festival and this was just too exciting to not record. To watch the comings and goings brought fond memories of her long ago sailing days and I love everything about the moving harbour. Frank, I am truly grateful for your always kind words and support, thank you. Best....Corrie

Hi Corrie, thank you for a bonus video. Your footage always entertains. Harbour patrol fussing around the other bosts like a well trained sheep dog. Looking at those take offs there was a bit of a crosswind today. Why are the flags at half mast?
@leftcoastcorrie
@leftcoastcorrie 28 дней назад
@mothmagic1, Ian my friend, you are a kind soul. I'm happy you find my footage entertaining, it makes me happy to film it. Oh my goodness, the harbour patrol had their hands full. You hit the nail on the head, the harbour patrol looked like well trained sheep dogs. This was so much fun, a great start to the week. I don't usually work this fast, it was an easy edit with little narration. I love the direction the seaplanes were taking off and landing, I could have stayed all day....lol. I honestly am not sure why the flags are at half mast, I wondered that myself. If I find out, I will let you know. Thank you for your always kind words, engagement and support, I am sincerely grateful. Let the journey continue! Best...Corrie

@mothmagic1, Ian, figured out reason the flag looks like it's at half mast. There are actually 2 poles, the flag is at the top and there is a second taller pole making it look like it's at half mast. I got as close as I could to the flag to have a good look. Best...Corrie

@@leftcoastcorrie I think it was an old US Coast and Geodetic Survey vessel from the 1930s.
@leftcoastcorrie
@leftcoastcorrie 27 дней назад
@phillipneal8194, I did some research, you are absolutely correct! She was built in 1940, named E. Lester Jones, retired in 1967, was sold in 1971 and was renamed Summer Wind. I am in the edit phase of the classic boats arriving for the boat festival, I hope to have it done today or tomorrow. It turned out longer than I had anticipated, but it's really beautiful footage. I appreciate the treasure hunt and I learned something new today, thank you. Best....Corrie

Too bad the gov cannot stop these smoking engines from that heavy pollution. Should be made to fix it or park it

@gettingold59, I kind of thought the same. I don't know who, or how could improve this and somehow minimize the pollution. This is a hot button for sure. Thanks Allan, always grateful for your kind words, engagement and support. Best....Corrie

@@leftcoastcorrie a couple of litres of injector cleaner added to the fuel would probably be a good start.
