The man literally has muscles tattooed on his arm. It took me the longest time to figure it out. On the black and white episodes, it looked to me like he was just so yoked that his biceps made small ripples in his skin.

That's not what it is, Jocko says those things with good sense of humor and respect for the other person still. You completely miss his communication skills. Good sense of humor and respect, these are what people are lacking. Has nothing to do with being tough or soft. It's the communication and people skills.
This is a refreshing perspective on manly men who are friends, duking it out verbally in a way that won't have lasting fallout. They jab each other's throats and you can see the venom but they heal each other in the process. Thanks for sharing this bout!!
