Like many people, I enjoy the softness and colors of Impressionist paintings, including Monet. But until this video, I didn't know that he had done more than one series (other than Rouen Cathedral). Nor did I understand until your 'lecture' was that the various paintings were meant to capture a brief moment in the sun's passage through the sky. It will be difficult from now on to see a Monet and not feel a twinge of melancholy, imagining him on a small boat in the river as the sun sets once more.

P.S. How charming that Dr Harris giggles as she talks about the PINK! trees, as though she is, too, viewing this canvas for the very first time.
