This monumental attempt to capture the losses and triumphs of WW1, the life and death of the soldiers, the spirit of France, all within the pond in his back yard is extraordinary and sublime. The water brings you in, you get tangled in the lilies, and you sink, sink, sink into beauty.
This is spectacular. Anyone who takes the time to watch will be enchanted by the story of Monets life and will better understand & appreciate the magnificence of his lifes work
It's monstrous that any critic would attack those beautiful garden paintings. They're masterpieces. I realize those critics are long dead, but I'm still outraged in this day and age. Beautiful pictures.
Unfortunately these galleries are crowded with selfie taking tourists. It's abominable. There are staff in there telling people who are chatting to shush. It ruined it for me so I enjoyed Monets water lilies much better in other venues. Very sad but that's the world we live in.
