I've never explored Flex innovations. After watching your RV-8 vid, we literally checked the site for the 1st time today, just as this vid came out. Must be a sign bc I 1) noticed this was one of the cheaper models they offer actually 2) It was genuinely our personal fav. By far. Thank you so much for the consistent uploads, and spectacular content. Your our favorite by far, no butter, FYI. Bounce one on!

Everyone needs one!! My girlfriend and i each got one for early Xmass presents and its the best thing iv ever flown. I couldnt knife edge worth a damn until i flew this thing. Along with pro hangs, It just kinda of does it by its self. The paint sucks durability wise but who cares when you have a plane that flys this damn good.

Added softener tyres and it is more forgiving, grand tundra tyres from HK , some mods needed. Lighter and absorbs hard landings

I think I would need to buy a trailer for hauling planes to the flying field, if I bought one of these. It should fit in the back of my RAV4, but I don't think anything else would fit in with it! Nice plane, though!

Definitely take a look at Liperior packs or China Hobbyline packs. Both great less expensive options. HRB and some other brands are available on Amazon too and would work fine in this bird. 👍

Since I recently had my first AS3X experience I can understand the appeal of a digitally locked flyer. The kind of confidence and fun that offers on top of a good flying aircraft is beyond. That said I still kinda like aircraft that have an edge to them; something with real limits that you dare yourself to fly near. Adds a bit of adrenaline to the craft.

There's always a limit, aura on or off. That's what we've been trying to prove throughout our reviews with the planes from Flex. Take a look at the RV-8 10e review and you'll see we did the stall testing with the aura on and off, same results with each. It doesn't fly the plane for you - no self-leveling. This plane had the same results. 👍 Great bird.

Did you add Dual rates to your setup. In the manual it states that dual rates are preprogrammed in the Aura 8. I did not see any rate difference when setting up my 170. Any suggestions?

The rates are set alongside the flight modes. There are three flight modes - depending on which profile you go with, you should see at least two different rate settings when flipping between the modes.

I’ve never had a flex plane that didn’t have a motor go bad before the 10th flight. Love the brand but not the electronics respectfully, I’m gonna get away from the brand. All due respect. Foam ain’t worth replacing electronics and othe one you buy. I upgraded my gen 1 and it’s a dream. I’ll keep what I have until they pick better quality electronics for the $$$

We had the same issue with the first gen wave of Potenza motors as well. The good news is that Flex did recently (in the last six months) change their motors entirely and the new ones are still running for us without tossing a magnet or having a bearing go out. This applies to the 10 sized 6s park fliers they have out now, too.

Flex goes for a sport scale rather than close to true scale look to keep their planes lighter and retain the ability to fly a wider flight envelope. 👍

. The Cessna g2 arrived this morning, this afternoon I started the assembly, easy. I have a problem with the night connection. I have the dimmer for the leds , with 4 male plugs , in the wings I have 2 plugs, one male and the other female but I do not see any female plugs coming out of the fuselage and the manual does not explain how to make the connections. If you have any solutions, I’m in. Thank you in advance.

Tempting! I really like it. I just picked up the FMS Beaver. It's been flying well, didn't need one click of trim on the maiden. Wish it had metal gear servos, and better hinges. I want one of these, and I've had my eye on other Flex planes as well. I'm not familiar with any RX setups, that aren't Spektrum tho. I had the NX8, now I have the newly released IX14. What would I need for a receiver? What "satellites" are you guys using? Thanks for any help, I appreciate it! Really enjoying the channel! Keep up the great work guys!

Thanks, Mike! Any DSMX Satellite will do - Flex even sells DSMX compatible satellites that work too. We'd strongly suggest using two for the added redundancy. More info on the Flex Wiki.

I love my turbo timber EVO, but am looking to upgrade. I know its apples to oranges but would you suggest this Cessna or the RV8 for all around flying/stepping my skills up? Thanks for the great vids!!

Depends on what type of flying you like. The RV-8 is even floatier than this but can also do the same 3D with the addition of really sick waterfalls. It doesn’t, however, do as good with stuff like one wheel touch and goes because of being a low wing with low wingtip to ground clearance.

What exactly is the programming variable that has to do with side slips and knife edge coupling?

Rudder > aileron cross controlled mix that Quique added specifically for knife edge loops. We rarely do knife edge loops and didn't like that it made forward slip inputs (not side slips, just to clarify), backwards because of the high amount of aileron cross control already being added with rudder via the mix. We do forward slips a lot so it made sense to us to remove it.

If starting with a pre-loaded Aura config. You will have no problems. There is a steep learning curve once you start making changes, but the GUI has popup help windows, and knowing that you can always go back to the "original" makes it easier to be brave. Short version, everything you used to do in the TX, now you do in the Aura and So much more.

It has kinda destroyed all my other flying Rcs (vid on channel) & has become my favorite, even though it came with a defective control surface (vid on channel) & Flex didn’t give a shit about it. The tires are pretty hard. For running in really rough terrain would I be fine running the 6” air filled Dubro tires? Would the added weight affect the plane much?

Avoid those Dubro lead weights at all costs. We’d strongly suggest the modified Flex 170 tires from Critical RC or the Kavan tires if you don’t like the stock ones. 👍

Hey Steven! If your main question is which looks and feels lighter in the air, I'd argue the RV-8, but that wouldn't keep me from buying one over the other. As we'd mentioned before, you can't go wrong with either. Go for what best fits the type of airplane you prefer more (low wing sporty or high wing bush plane). 👍-Zach

She's a keeper! As for the weight - we try and avoid airplanes that are designed for stuff that normally would call for a lightly loaded wing but come in way too heavily loaded. This plane feels nice and floaty and is designed more for sport/moderate 3D flying. It does this great. Our main gripe is RC bush planes that fly heavy when in reality should be nice and light and floaty to achieve a smaller scale version of the full-scale STOL counterpart. It's all scenario based. Thanks for watching.
