Harvests from winter farming exceeded expectations. The Ministry of Agriculture's organizational capacity was impressive. Farmers that were willing and able to farm were matched with implements in a timely fashion. Planting season is here, time to increase crop production once again.
Mr this is impressive ,all the best to you, hope you will find means to cut chemicals so that we dont kill the little guys under the soil,on fertilizer have it organic so that your soil will be healthy and not salty.all the best
Cool, can you extend that to maize farms, since sadza is the main staple food, and the fresh water flowing down stream from dams and rivers like the Zambezi or limpopo ?
Hi, Seeing as you my Home boy (I was Born in masvingo 1959) heres some tips for drip maintainance: For algae etc use chlorine For salt/lime deposits use HCl acid For sand blocking the drippers........ no cure except taping them with a stick Weekly........... undo the end "stopper" and flush out all the gunk and ants...... they generally make their way to the end of the pipe. Do this weekly /monthly ...prevention is better than cure Some people say putting peroxide in the water helps prevent ant clogging but not sure. Happy dripping
i have a 6 hactare farm in norton and access to a lot of land ... im an engineer from gzu mashava studyng automated irrigation systems that need less human involvement (software controlled) projects include auto misting systems for disease management automatic fertilizer application automated solar trackers for max power output for solar operated pumps im also an enthusiast in automed tomato growing with main goal of reducing operating cost using artificial intelligent systems lets collaborate and make money with tomatoes using climate controlled systems
2:38 With drip irrigation are you forced to space your plants to the same spacing of the drip lines holes like 30cm in this case. Someone told me its not necessary, the water will eventually meet up as it water. Can someone school me please.
I will propose Kuti instead of constructing domed tomato beds try to put furrows so that your water gets retained after irrigation . When you have domes like those l see your water escapes quite easily and away from your plants . Just my 2 cents input there
During the dry season, there is no need since chances of surface runoff are very low from drip or a.k.a. trickle irrigation. With drip irrig, we have more of slow and gradual infiltration into the root zone depth (RZD). However, during the rainy season, your point becomes valid and to mitigate water loss through runoff and to avoid soil erosion, you can tie the ridges i.e., tied ridges.
I find drip irrigation when I come to south Africa in 1995 at Haddon farm 60 ,kilometers east of messina I was in changed of watering tomatoes .but you say is smart irrigation Zimbabwe you backwards they're nothing new of that irrigation south African farms do it long ago
@@graciousnyamapfeni9184 did I say south Africa is Zimbabwe or I say when I come to S.A. irrigation system like that was already using it .most of you shonas muno rutsa amutauri
@@niconkola9314 thing is u don't understand my statement In simple English I meant, what is old to south Africa, may be new to Zimbabwe, for an economy that is struggling, that's an achievement so give credit where it's due and stop comparing our country. YES

You say 1995 but some people they had came across with such technology, its just a matter of age, time and activities so lets base on what improvement has it brought instead than to focus minor things that don't in business.
