Great George. You just can't beat the vintage Paiste and Ludwig sound...with great playing too of course.

You are a star George - brilliant interpretation and on the nail with the odd time and dynamics. Love the ending groove. Memories again of the concert at the Liverpool Empire in 1974. They placed stacks of speakers to the left / right side and rear of the theatre both in the stalls and circle - so all the sound effects particularly Money & Us and Them were all around you. At the same time playing in synch with the film playing on the circular screen behind them. No computers then ! Have a brill Sunday - hope you are gigging !! 🥁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🥁

As a PF fan and a drummer and "Money" being my least favorite PF song, you did this song with such touch. Respect.

Probably the most difficult part of this song is the single hand 16th notes on the ride cymbal during the solo. It's ridiculous. I can sustain it for about 4-5 bars before it starts to fall apart, but I wouldn't want to cheat myself of being able to play it either. I wish I'd learnt jazz sooner.

I felt it tenting to rush a few times but I am not a metronome myself and obviously loved it regardless. You keep covering the tracks that defined us :)
@BONHAMOLOGY
@BONHAMOLOGY Год назад
Thank you, yes it does rush, quite a bit. Check out the tempo at the beginning compared to during the guitar solo, and then at the end versus. The tempo moves around but mostly it speeds up dramatically.

@@BONHAMOLOGY I suppose, in the beginning they were tied speed-wise to the "cash register" effect and later on - no more "cash register"... Great performance George, as always. Thank you for all your videos.

@@BONHAMOLOGYEven though it obviously speeds up and slows down, I find that ebb and flow exciting to listen to. The solo comes to life with the energy that builds into it.

Hi , Slightly rushed here & there but with the context of a drum cover you can obviously put in more time to nail it but then again we live in a time when people rarely have the time to do anything as their jobs are sucking the life-force out of them... The only ongoing part I had a slight issue with is your snare sound & this is a topic that can see many in the drum community lose it but when doing a drum cover of a song you absolutely know is a true classic , especially by Pink Floyd , then you want to get as close to the sound of his snare to yours as possibly & I respectfully think your snare is tuned higher & your snare wires is a little bit rattly... When I had this issue I'd tape with 1 strip or 2 stripes of tape & put the tape across about 1/4 forward to 1/4 back from the edges of the snare strips & this gave me more control over how that would sound... It was the same with the Toms & Floor Tom(s) & let me just say that of course this was my way of dealing with sound travelling too far & I'd put what type of tape we had that could deaded them as much as I liked to have them & you'd be surprised how many simple home products you use daily that can achieve a light dull sound or a heavier & more dense sounder... Obviously I'm going back 4 decades ago & we had to learn how to get around such issues & it is quite fun to use things on your drums that many other wouldn't even think of but we worked with what we had & at times I felt we should've put a patent on some of them... All comical things put aside I can't stress enough that " This Is Your Drum Cover " & own it & earn its respect , as there are so many that aren't musicians but just casual fans these days that couldn't come up with the ideas that they think were just given but we had to use our brain & intuition on probable solving at practically every Live Gig... This could be down to the venues ecoustics absolutely rubbish & everything to do with setting up for a Live Performance saw so many people not knowing what had to go into making that Live Show sound as amazing as we could get it & at times we literally had to problem solve on our feet while there rigging everything up & setting up the PA/Mics Et al & that when I found out that some sounds need to sound out were as others needed to dampened down... Now unless your the reincarnation of Bonzo who as far as I can remember never used such tactics yet to this day every musician is still trying to figure out how he got his unique sound & the argument of hitting the drums hard only covers a certain amountvof ground , yet time out of time he always managed to get that sound no matter what venue Led Zeppelin played in... As for myself I took a fork in the road & I suddenly found out that my go to instrument that I thought I'd never love like other instruments was the Bass Guitar as I was shocked as anyone to suddenly find out my calling wasn't on the drums but the bass guitar but it at least let me know a lot quicker on how to communicate with our drummer bit even IF I hadn't played drums & I went straight to the bass guitar , I still knew the connection & bond that is achieved by the drummer & bassist working with what I called the engine room & our job was to late down concrete foundations from drums & bass guitar that could aide the other members of the band... Why there's been way too many jokes aimed towards drummers is beyond me as thats the guy/gal that's laying down his work so you can sound better always pissed me off & I honestly don't think that playing on the drums first made me feel that way but instead the bassist within me knew what a load of croc that's aimed at drummers but thankfully they are made with thicker skins than other musicians... On finishing IF you feel or think your snare sound is too high then that's in your hands to decide as I'd always offer up an opinion but never ram it down anyone's throat & you've done a great job on this but Yes a little more time spent on your timing will do wonders & as far as muting snare/floor & bass drums is your decision to make & knly yours to make as this is about what you can do & not what others are trying to force their opinion on you , as thats not how I roll... As far as dampening your kit is again your decision to make & no one else's & stick to your way of playing if your so sure your sound just doesn't need it , as again this is about how you achieve your overall sound & now one else's... Our drummer always took out 2 snares on many & mostly all of our gigs , as at times we just don't know when suddenly the snare splits open & this can happen to all skins on drums at somepoint , but he also at times brought a 3rd snare drum that had quite a low key pitch sound to it & it just worked perfectly in certain songs we wrote & used that snare on & again it was a case othjnking this through & the 3rd could be set up on a snare stand & mic'd up to instantaneously flip from to main snare he used to that lower deeper sound he got & again it was a case of how do we work around this & the solution was right there & all it need was to use another snare stand & have it rigged up to use IF need be & I say the latter because it was best for us (anyway) to get into & having another snare being this 3rd one set up so we could add this into our overall time of getting unpacked/taken into venue/set up & then mic up & it just becomes normal to do this for us , as it made sure we didn't much about & we got yhe best sounds at certain venues we playing when the acoustics was never taken into the equation... Keep on playing & enjoying on playing your drums as thats how all of us set out to do but once you feel that playing has become to much like a job then there are times that a quick break between gigs always got everyone into playing Live again & I've never been surprised by how so many famous bands split up , as its only natural to see that vamiliarity breeds contempt & at times it is in certain bands needs to see them have a break so they can reconnect with what they once loved doing , as no one , especially musicians , wants to see what they played for fun turn into too much effort & leave them feeling like their playing together soon fast became a job & thats when you know you definitely need a break & also find whatever spark that everyone had at the start... I'll leave it at this or I'll just keep typing more in... In light of this still ongoing coronavirus and it's variants stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world... Enjoy what's left of your weekend... .....
