I'm of the opinion he actually drains some of the energy out of the pod ... pontificates, interrupts, ... speaks at a different pace ... compare the Keo/Zels show with the repartee, the RugbyPod with Hamilton and compare those with this. Nothing wrong with his knowledge - just doesn't click for me.
@@David-fw2bt the fact that you’re are even talking about a failed player and coach like Williams just shows whose head he is living in. Boks fans are among the most ridiculous fans on the planet. 🤣
In the late 70's and 80's the boks played an expansive tipe of rugby and had big forwards as well. Think of Carel du Plessis, Danie Gerber, Ray Mord, Gerrie Germishuys...they run the hell out if their opponents!
Thank you Scott!I was starting to feel like I watched a different game on Saturday....from all the negative reviews that have followed about the game as a whole ... It was honestly a great spectacle, through and through!🎉
Rassie are adding another layer to the Boks! He also said that they are adjusting to the new laws. The forward plays are always their way, but adding a little more expansive game will make them really dangerous.
The best statement yet The backline needs "upgrading" Only then can the springboks grow AND GROW THEY HAVE TO because every one else is doing that Every team is using the same defense system and every coach are working on beating it. Rassie is integrating the two groups and it will take time Remember the WC and the games before Hardly ever the same plan, so PLEASE give him time The integrated team will be great Just think os the youngsters in the wings Wow
@@steinjonah660 listened to the Kiwi shows and the Irish ones and the Rugby Pod. Everyone is saying that the Boks might be the dominant force for the next 4 years with this style of play.
In my opinion, the expansive play was just a tactic, and Ireland got caught off guard. Boks did the same against England in the previous World Cup. Watch how the high ball will be more effective next week. Chesleyn Kolbe ptsd 😅
Tony Brown said he wants Pollard to be that flyhalve he was when he played for the baby boks, attacking the gainline, once he gets back to that then this backline will flurish and we will be a nmean bok machine
Is Zels okay? Super quiet. Hopefully Zels and Mark didn't get threats via social media after Mondays episode. On the plus side its amazing to see how protective us South Africans are over our Springboks.
I think if we can find the balance of the blunt force trauma upfront and playing a more innovating play, South Africa can be triple World Cup Champions. The only thing that needs to happen is to freshen up the squad with new blood after the Rugby Champions this year.
I see what Mark and Zels are saying. Rassie brought the Sprinkboks back to life by going back to our DNA of our forwards back in 2018. But I think the Springboks are now evolving at the correct gradient with proper coaching and the expansive play is just another tool in the toolbox. They will be hard to beat come then next world cup. Wow... other nations have to be concerned.
If the boks can refine the expansive game they are going to be very scary going forward. Not only are they the most unpredictable side to play in terms of selection, but what style of rugby that team plays is also not a given.
The difference between Scott and them is that he's been there; he's played in test matches so as much as it's his opinion that he's giving, unlike Zels & Keo this is his field of expertise.
@@W0nderer but they are playing two styles as they deliberately avoided contact and passed the ball whereas they would normally take contact and you can’t be doing both of those things at the same time
Well, it would be a poor showing if the newly minted, refreshed world champs can't beat an exhausted, battered Ireland team at the end of a long gruelling, disappointing season, playing with their 3rd choice SH, new FB and without 4/5 first choice players. Oh, and at home as well.
@@stephendoherty981 Ireland just won back to back 6 nations they collected 4 million euro more than SA did for 4 years winning 2 WC and you call it dissapointing. I mean what more could Ireland have won this year “maybe Back to Back gran slams.”
@davidwalker2402 In the last 14 months, most of these Irish players have lost two Champions Cup finals in the last minute, a World Cup QF by less than a score, and a Grand Slam in the last seconds at Twickenham. That's heartbreaking and has to have taken a toll on their emotional health. As a Leinster and Ireland fan, it's taken its toll on mine!!
unfortunately Ireland dont quite have the strenght in dept of south africa, when we lose a couple of players we are not at the same level. In saying that you write us off at your peril,it would not surprise me if we went to Durban and got the W.
What Ireland lack in depth they ooze in skill and mind. NZ have been hammering the shit out of SA for years now using the two inches at the top of their crown. The boks won the WC losing to Ireland beating France England and NZ by a single point. I think arrogance will be your downfall. Who says it’s great putting a bomb squad on and the opposition scores 4 tries. Two were disallowed but they were tries , bomb squad is a gimmick the rest of the world has found out… BTW Ireland dominated the the last 20 minutes of that game…
Its all about winning. Say what you want. If the boks starts losing then yeah bring in the changes. While it works stick to it and then add to your game.
I agree and can see Zell's point. But we do not physically dominate every game. and the ones we do not we tend to lose. It would be nice to have a attack system we can fall back on. And the only way to get good at it is reps.
Enthusiasm is a good thing. Zels and Keo aren't short of verbiage on their podcast and the Moneyman is kinda like Vinnie Jones, doesn't need to talk much, just looms there.😄
Loving the Bok evolution, adding to their toolbox a vast array of techniques and play styles that will keep oponents guessing, how does opponents select players when they not sure what's coming #theydontknowwhayweknow😂
The one dimensionality is simply a very natural style. The flair and tenacity however I feel is tapped from our peoples, players & coaches colourful history.
Great game. SA played magnificently, but this is 20 World Cup winning players, against an Ireland missing Sexton (for obvious reason) and Keenan, Hanson, JGP or Conan. And give credit where it’s due, with little depth compared to SA, Ireland still fronted up, in the breakdown and scrum and backs. In the 2nd test we also have no Casey, Henshaw or Sheehan. The boks are effectively playing a B Irish Team this Saturday. And also worth mentioning that the Bok fans and Irish got on like a house on fire. I was there!!!
It's clear after the second test they completely mis analysed the game last weekend. Boks didn't win because they imposed their game. They did very little with all the territory and possession Ireland actually soaked them up really well. The game was decided by 2 or 3 inflexion points that all went their way and put them a score away from Ireland in the last 20. The TMO call. Lowe keeping the ball in. And Lowe not letting it run dead. All 3 moments ruled out or created trys in South Africa's favour.
...but we tried playing NZ expansive style during Super Rugby era , prior to Rassie......its funny but the Blues won the Super Rugby based on Bok Rugby game style. The players for that game experiment wasn't even on the pitch , Mannie , Grant , Sacha , Esterhuizen, Moodie.
21:06 Finally someone said that this Ireland is not the same Ireland team that they played in the World Cup. As for missing their choice number 9?? How about the best or 2nd best 9 in the world.
26:11 Again we have a comment where the Boks weren’t at their best. No comment on Ireland not being at their best or it being their first game in 4 months 🙄
I love this show - I really do. But Scott Gibbs cannot stop talking and most of it is just word salad. I’ve never heard someone talking so much without saying anything. There have to be better guests you can bring onto the show? Zels - love you!
15:03 haven’t heard anything positive about Ireland from the welsh man. You’ve me swear SA were the underdogs. More experienced players, in their backward and at altitude. Ireland did very well.
The question is when push game to shove what did the boks do? Shove them into the stands with the forwards and claim a penalty try! We scored a great try but also let them into the game with the gameplan. We will tighten up on Saturday is my guess. Agree with Zels, if we play like that(like vo OZ in 21) we bring a lot of the top6 teams into having a chance. When we play to our strengths very few can stop us. Like they said if thats the game plan are Malherbe, Faf, De Allende, Pollard et all the best for that game in terms of cattle...not so sure but for a traditional BOK style they are best in world.
6:53 “It could have been more”? It could have been less!! Good argument for the Irish try to either stand to make it 13 each or at least an Irish penalty for the neck role and indeed a scrapping of an SA try. Yes SA missed points, but Ireland missed at least 7 too. Huge game from SA. Huge passion. However they only won by 7 and it was closer than the score board suggests. Now you effectively face a B Irish Team on Saturday!! By the way I was there and felt the emotion of both anthems. Goosebumps!
I’d argue that the difference was greater and not reflected on the scoreboard with boks honing a new attack structure, hopefully they stick with it this weekend and add polish as the players get used to it … boks by 15 🇿🇦🤜🏽🤛🏽
I often think about how we add up missed goal kicking points and then say what the score should of been if the kicks had gone over. I am starting to rethink about this. Let's say a side got over the first missed penalty then maybe there would of not been another penalty because one could argue that the opposition would rectify the fault and not give another penalty. I am thinking this is just an assumption and guess work of final scores when adding on missed penalties and not a true reflection of the final score.
@@brianbarbarich1401 true, in this case I was replying to someone saying if Lowe's try hadn't been disallowed, Ireland would have won. Same thing, it's bs.
Can also make the argument that if Boks didnt have a lapse in concentration and let two easy tries through in the last 3 minutes, it would be considered a hiding. So many ifs and buts can be made for both teams.
Guys, it's time to rein Scott Gibbs in. While I love seeing him on the show and value his input, he needs to get to the point in half the time. Respectfully, one of the shows biggest fans.
Oh my God .. these two Welsh men certainly know how to brown nose the SA fans and pundits .. very green and gold tinted glasses... it is a little bit embarrassing to listen to their fawning and sycophantic comments .. definitely not a very balanced punditry ..
Rassie really wants to close this series by keeping his selection. Ierland will come back stronger this weekend because there won’t be any altitude issues which favoured the Boks. I’m going for Ierland to win this weekend.
How the hell are a bruised, battered, exhausted Ireland going to beat the fresh, rejuvenated world champs, at home and missing a third of their first choice team. This is one game too far for Ireland, I'm afraid.
@@stephendoherty981 don’t be such a pig ignorant fool. Ireland ran them very close last Saturday and decisions could have turned it in their favour. And that was our back line completely missing. Refreshed how do you work that out. Last 20 minutes this game was dominated by Ireland scoring 4 tries two disallowed but they were trys . Where were the boks in the last 20 minutes they were out on their feet while Ireland were running in trys, bomb squad my arse they scored 1 try from a huge Irish mistake and SA conceded 4 tries when they came on. You’re looking through rose tinted glasses instead of weighing up what actually happened, and your analogy of a SA refreshed is ridiculous as they were completely out on their feet.
@@cryptodisciple7613 altitude is not a factor as the vast majority of the springbok team are not based at altitude and flew up to Loftus same as the Irish did
Box cheated im notbirish french but that try was good but combinedwith englishcheats won it for u .u lost world cup as iteland won the group so they should have met agsisin
TAS analytics have scrutinised the game, if the calls made by the TMO, just the ones he had time to check, were called correctly, Ireland win by a margin, just disgraceful that there was so many one sided calls, , the Lowes try should have counted, the Kolbe try should have been disallowed, the Doris try was clearly grounded. That alone would have resulted in a 32 - 20 win for Ireland, even with 20 WC winners in the squad you are just not good enough to beat Ireland missing key players.
@@Blindside_Flanker Wise words, you are truly a student of the game, somehow I think you would have more to say if the result had correctly gone to Ireland, its easy to be smug after a 'lucky' win
You’re a funny guy. Good luck on Saturday I have the feeling you’re going to need it. In the meantime I’m going to get my tiny violin out and play you a tune. 😂😂😂
@@waynec9914 Thanks Wayne, as seen on this video, quite a few of our players 'taken out'without being penalised so our already depleted team is decimated, but I think our second teir is still enough to run you close, just a pity we weren't full strength for this tour, would have been our first series win. SA's luck continues.
I liked this show but this episode really was a giant springbok wankfest. To act like SA is miles better than everyone else when they won the world cup by fluking 3 games in a row by 1 point including against nz with 14 men, is abit far fetched and over exaggerated. Fact is SA have won an abysmal 3 Rugby Championships in 28 years, shouldn't they atleast wait to win that before making these claims to be miles ahead. It's fair enough to say boks are number one but to act like they are this incredibly dominant team like the 2011-2015 ABs is simply not accurate to say the least.
