Not so strange if you consider that one's outward appearance doesn't necessarily dictate who they are on the inside. A beautiful woman used to not being seen as anything other than beautiful may look for the beauty within when selecting a partner. An unattractive man might want or need more from a relationship than just a beautiful woman on his arm. (that is, maybe she's dumb or not a good person) A beautiful woman may select an unattractive partner so there is no one to compete with her. An unattractive man may not be anymore immune from a midlife crisis or needing an ego boost than an attractive one. An unattractive man should not have to settle for being in an unhappy relationship just because his partner is considered attractive. Relationships with older men have its problems. Older men can get very set in their ways. They also feel they have more power over you due to age, experience and money and may exploit that power and become critical and controlling - like a parent! Most girls and women should be taught that. If you are an upbeat, positive woman with energy (like me) you can be friends with older men but only get seriously involved with same age group or even slightly younger men.
You have to remember if he wasn't rich or he wasn't famous, she wouldn't look twice probably. Not all men do this maybe because they can't.
