I was 24 I just introduced this to a bunch of 26 yr olds they watched it 3 times in a row and asks what happened to music today I said money 🤑 profit over people
Remember this one playing on Open House Party back in the day. This is by far the best version !!! The early 90's can't even be described. You just had to live it to really understand.
Funny thing about a lot of these songs from the 90s, the remix would get all the airplay but the DJ would never mention that you’re listening to a remix.
I work down the Jersey shore every summer on the air...gonna drop this mix on kool 98.3 this weekend! THIS MIX! Very KICK ASS! Monie lives in Philly, maybe she'll hear it!
Not really a sample, they recreated and replayed the Greatest Dancer, you can hear it's not the same as Nile and Bernard playing but it's close. Maybe the Nile riffs were filtered out and those are samples as they sound very close but the bassline and other elements are clearly replayed. And that's several years before Jiggy Wit It
Best version ever! I used to stay up late late night just to catch this video when I was like 9-10 years old....many of nights. I loved the colors.... the vibes on this school are on another level! Taliba Kwelis interview with monie brought me here again
Here in São Paulo Brazil we"d dance this Monie Love song throught 90 'till 92, but this culture came back here and we're having many parties and we keep on dancing Monie Love. The time doesn't exists ,it's like hapiness, just a state of mind❣
It’s a shame for real....I almost feel like I can jump into this screen why’ll this video is playing and go back to my childhood years... amazing song and video..... Monie Is Legend
I quiet remember back in d days around 1990’s when we used to play & party with these tunes, meeeen !!! Da was great America was known to us in Africa especially in Ghana listening to RAP & RnB from my black people them
It's awful that this mix of the song is not available electronically. I remember forcing my brother to buy me the cassette single back in 1991. This IS the version played in the US which lifted it to #26 on the Billboard charts - a huge deal for a British female rapper at the time. The original is also excellent but, here, to choose Sister Sledge's immortal "He's the Greatest Dancer" to sample? Genius.
Yes "He's the greatest dancer"...In the instrumental sample you hear the band CHIC . Nile Rodgers (guitar) and Bernard Edwards (bass) wrote it, arranged it, played on it and produced it. Its classic CHIC. with a signature Nile Rodgers groove. Hear also Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" or Beyonce's "Cuff It"
aawww love this remix version!!!! been looking for this for years...even tho monie was and still is sexy as hell, she didnt have to use sex to sell records...much respect to her and what she contributed to hip hop!
...My number two remix that sounds way better than the original....1. Don't wanna fall in love - New Jack Swing remix, this at number 2 and number 3. Shut 'em down - Pete Rock remix...coming in fourth: Fortunate Son - Wycleff...
