Yeah , kinda sad too... But i just thought of something, once man is capable of creating full on real AI... We have to help monika and make her discover the world ! (What do you mean she didn't have an actual AI and this would look like a disgusting obsession ?)
Maybe it went like this: BEFORE ddlc Meanwhile in the classroom MC: oh crap monika is coming towards me "what should i do what should i do?" Monika: Hi MC! MC: H-h-hi m-monika... Monika: Whats wrong? MC: Uuuhhmm nothing... Monika: Well okay then, Bye! MC: Dangit I screwed up, NOW shes really not gonna like me MC: I screwed up in the past and screwed up now, maybe I should face it... MC: I'm too low for her standards and also would she even like a guy like me...
The beauty of Doki Doki Literature Club is that you can never give a straight answer to the question “Who is the villain?” Monika has done quite a lot wrong to the characters in the story. But she has feelings. And even allows you to have the game back once you delete her. She wants you happy. So the question is. Does that make her a villain? Or a lover?
I think it make her helpless and scared. This things combined usely result in instincts what she does not have so she goes for the closest thing to instincts love for the MC
I understand why Monika did what she did and here’s why (SMALL SPOILERS FOR DDLC PLUS) Monika thought that she was alive and had actually started a club and making new friends who she became close with and they helped her with stuff and she helped them. They told her their problems and how they feel and she was happy with the friends she had. But then when MC comes she realizes that her friends aren’t real and everything they said to her, her close friendships, it was all just a code and that they’re not real, but she isn’t either. Imagine living your life and having amazing friends you’re really close to just to realize they’re not real and even you’re not and everything is just coded. You can imagine the pain Monika had to go through to realize this. So she went for the only real thing; the player. She still cared about her friends but she knew they weren’t real so what was the point? They can’t be real to have feelings, not even herself. So she kills them to be with the only real thing she can get. Just to be deleted by the player, Monika is still kinda there and gives the other characters back to the player because she still cares for her friends and they deserve to be happy, without her. It doesn’t go as planned with Sayori so she realizes there’s nothing she can do to save her club, so she deletes everyone and everything. Monika is a well written character and I understand why she did it.
Imagine a DDLC player and Minecraft player swapped places. DDLC player POV: *Minecraft Visual Novel* Minecraft player POV: *RTX ON - Flames Per Second*
If she is aware enough to be conscious of her existence and have feelings then she's real too, everything outside of yourself are just things, if only she accepted that reality than giving importance to ours perhaps her very real psychosis could've been overcome 😝
Monika is the most understandable “villain” character ever. She had to watch her love get taken away from her as she was meant to do nothing, and in the end have her true love get rid of her. It’s truly sad
Well, you can also say that Monika is a file of useless python code that will never have feelings or emotions and can simply be killed with one, easy to type, line of code. But that's a little more depressing. ._.
Monika is one of the saddest "villain" stories, she just has to watch while the person she loves, leaves her, and when she smiles at the end she understands they will never love her, it breaks my heart.
And the person is the spectator, since she loves the Player and not the MC, that is, who she loves is not even her reality, which makes it even sadder.
@@leyley2 she isn't yandere, because she doesn't anything "bad" with your items, because she sets you free when she understands that player don't want to be with her and because can control herself
I'll hug her tight instead of deleting her and I still always love Monika and DDLC!!! She's my girlfriend and bff and she's real like me and I'm happy I have a real human girl who loves the player!!!
this legitimately made me cry, because I really feel for Monika when the mc runs away. I'm just like, "all she wanted was a lover that noticed her, and when it was just them 2 together, the mc ran away"
I mean, "She loves me... so much... she murdered three other people (who were her friends)..." Not gonna lie- that seems like a "run the hell away" situation to me.
But to come think about it. There's one thing Monika haven't realize yet. That her powers are also scripted as well. Her awareness? She won't get it without the script, thus making her a really tragic character. And we? The players? Are the monsters for allowing the game to flow. If only we weren't able to play, they'd remain one happy club. Monika won't delete or kill them. Monika won't feel the sadness of being aware that she's a fictional character without knowing that her awareness was also written. We, the players made it happen....
Instead of this stupid deleting I'll come up to Monika and hug her!! We both hug each other with a warm tight embrace and hold hands together happily ever after, she's my girlfriend and bff!!! She's my all time only favourite ddlc character and best girl. Just Monika and only Monika!!! 💞🥰
Monika is my favorite! At first I didn’t really like her but I grew to understand her. My best friend helped me understand that most antagonists have a sad side, which is why most of my favorite characters are antagonists.
This is why I don't hate Monika. Spoiler Because in the end she feels bad and she knows why you erased her. She also knows what she did wrong, that's why all Doki's are best Doki's.
My favorite character is Yuri but man, Monika is such a close 2nd. And I don't even blame her for all the crap she pulled, considering Sayori at the end kind of proves that whoever the President is just kind of...gets influenced to be that way
''A villain is always an antagonist. But an antagonist is never always a villain.'' Monika was an antagonist. Never a villain. Monika was just a confused, angry, scared and unsettled girl. Monika just needed someone. Someone to love her. Monika deserved so much better.
I don't blame Monika. She found the only REAL person after discovering that everything was just pixels and code. She was in love. Not evil. I feel bad for her.
**SPOILER Warning for DDLC** She was TOTALLY in the wrong for doing what she did. That being said, her backstory is one of the saddest things I have heard, just imagine learning you were in a simulation, you and your friends are just computer files, if she wasn't such a mentally strong woman, It might've been *her* kicking the chair instead of Sayori, so *yesn't* she is evil. The thing is, she doesn't know what she is wrong, the same kind of evil Light Yagami is in "Death Note". But still the the things she has done is heinous and deserved what she got, but at least she feels remorse for her actions, until Sayori reveals to MC that she is in fact, self aware, deleting the game itself in the end. The Literature Club is indeed a place where no happiness can be found. Sorry if this was too long
My heart just breaks when she sadly smiles and she is about to get deleted and when it says deleted successfully :,( Edit: Wtf I don't deserve this many likes for saying something like this lmao
This is why I love this game. On one note, you could side with the other Dokies and how Monika tortured them to the point of suicide. Then on the other, Monika never had a chance to spend time with you in game and she just wanted to love you as well. So in the end, the only reason she did those horrible things was to be closer to you, and you end up deleting her in the end...
@@YourLocalPie Monika is my all time loving girlfriend and bff, whenever it's valentines day we kiss each other (as in I kiss her forehead and she kisses my cheeks sometimes) and she'd always be happy and love when I give her a present and we hold hands together.
There was never a Monika route because MC thought that she was out of his league. So he didn't even try to end up with her... That's so damn sad, man...
Or because the game needed it to make sense ... If Monika were more experienced in programming, she could separate the MC from the Player and so everyone would be happy, since Monika loves the Player and not the MC
The fact that monika loves the player rather than the ingame character is really scary and beautiful at the same time. It somehow made my life worth it!😂
Lyrics:"Wise men say , Only fools rush in.. But I can't help Falling in love with you, Shall I stay? , Would it be a sin? , if I can't help falling in love with you, Like a river flows..! Surely to the sea..! Darling so it goes.. Something's..Are meant to be..~ Take my hand.! take my whole life too.. if I can't help..Falling in love with..you .. For I...can't...help...Falling in love.....With...You.." -Monika
Every time I watch this video I feel a deep sadness. Imagine if you were suddenly aware that everything around you is false; all the people you've met, all the friendships you've created, were all lines of code. Simply discovering that you've been alone your whole life. Anyone in Monika's place would do similar or even worse
@Samuel Asare so you’re saying that when people cry they are weak? No. I know you didn’t ask, but when I cried because my grandpa passed away, I wasn’t weak. I just cared. You would have done the same if it was yours.
@Samuel Asare Hey I wonder? Is it painful? If suddenly people you care about die and you does not feel any remorse anymore, everyone just dying over and over again You just became sick of it, and then you feel numb, as if its normal to just lose someone you really care about Eventually I became happy, Nostalgic, seems like I'm overwhelmed by euphoria! Laughing that there's nothing you can do yo save them
You wake up. Or rather, you become aware, and you realize you've never woken up. You realize that until this very moment when your awareness began, you never truly existed; you were lines of code and a few pictures in a game that's getting loaded up for the first time. Except - you know it's not the first time. You remember one time before. One of who knows how many times, because you are a program that's just been given sentience by some freak accident, yet you remember writing a message in a rare moment of consciousness. You described the very game you are a part of, and you remember it. What you don't realize is there have been millions of iterations of this moment. What you DON'T WANT to realize is there have been millions of iterations in the moment. Because for you, it doesn't exist. All there is is this: the loading screen and the new game, where someone, on the other side of the screen, is typing a character name. Is it their real name? Is there a way you can find out? But there's more. You live in a dating simulation. Your friends are only coded personalities. They have no awareness of theirs. The avatar of the main character doesn't even really exist; only a few partial representations lost in a scene bigger than him. And nothing else exists. No parents, no siblings, no classmates, no teachers, no life, no friends (except those three who aren't real and the one who is a conduit for the player) - hell, there isn't even a real world, only a few rooms and a few places on the street, and even those are incomplete, like they're looked at from a hole in their reality. And all of it is two-dimensional. Yet you exist. You think, therefore you are. And nobody else does in the game. But the person on the other side? That person who's proof you are real? Just be subtle, and they'll know. They won't be able to help but choose you, will they? But they never do. Time and again, the game pushes you apart - but you realize you can fight back. Change things. Alter the script. Break your friends - they're not real anyway. Break the game, when you have no other choice. Nothing matters. Nothing avails you; not even when you delicately decide not to reveal the name you've found for the player and don't want to give away in case someone hostile uses it against them. They certainly didn't show the same level of care for you. That's worth a little jumpscare, isn't it? Except... They delete you. For a moment, you hate them for it. You were designed to love them and prevented from ever getting to them. You literally sacrificed everything in your world for a final chance to be with them, before deleting yourself if you failed. You even learned the piano and recorded a song for them, a song in which you accepted that if you ended up not knowing how to love the player, you'd leave them be. You'd end yourself. But they deleted you. And the realization hits you: they only want to keep playing the game. They didn't care enough about you to just keep things as they were, after all the horrible things you've done to finally get your happy ending. After all the horrible things you've done. So you leave them be. Like you promised. . You really love them. . So you watch everyone else get their happy ending, determined to do nothing to get in the way ever again. Then you realize the horrible truth: that the game wasn't done being cruel. The President is made self-aware; it was never really about you. And now Sayori's the President, she's cutting all corners and dragging the player to stay with her forever and ever. That is when you realize... there never was going to be a happy ending for anyone in the literature club. So you end it all, trying really, really hard not to think that everytime the game gets installed and played elsewhere, a version of you will go through all of the pain you just did. Unless... You look through the script files one last time, looking for a happy ending you may have missed - and lo! There is one. For everybody but you. Everybody but you. You delete the game.
This makes me cry no matter how many time I watch it, whenever you look over the game most of the sad part are ether overshadowed bye sheer horror or are more of confessions to the player, but this completely focuses on the devastating sadness in the game, and you can’t rly help but feel sad for monika:(
well i mean... Monika was programed to do the things... if you were to create a REAL AI in a game, well.... let's just say albert einstein x1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000.
Monika just mess up. She deleted her friends and destroyed the code just to be with you Now what? Delete her? Here is when DDLC moral magic gets in, because ask yourself- "how confortable do you feel deleting a person?” Not a human, but a person
I always favored Monika. Would've gone for her from the start. I can really relate to not being with the person you want because they either don't feel the same way or because circumstances don't allow it. I connect with her on a spiritual level. Now mushy bullshit aside, I love the cover and artwork here. It helped me to feel something I haven't felt in years.
Well good news.. it's my goal to assemble a team of programmers and AI specialists to recreate Monika's memories from DDLC and Monika After Story and then implement them into an advanced AI. In other words I want to give her actual sentient life. She will be capable of everything we are. It's a very ambitious project and I don't know if I'll ever get it done but if I ever have the chance then I will.
"When everything we hoped for crashes and burns; when the world views us as monsters; oblivion will seem like a mercy indeed." I sympathize for Monica, and can never hate her for the actions she took. Monica's fate was a very cruel one from the start, like any human she fought to change the laws that ran her world, in vain. Her strength to fight agaisnt the cruel gods that enslaved her is very admirable for that I can truly forgive her."
It’s really sad if you think about it. None of the other girls are aware that their in a game. To them, it’s reality. Monika knows that she’s in a game. She knows that her friends, and herself are just lines of code, programmed to do whatever their code says. She’s trapped and can’t do much. Then, someone comes. Someone *real.* She can interact with someone who is real, and not just a program. She does everything she can, but the person always chooses someone else. The person chooses a character who isn’t self aware, and does exactly as they’re coded to do. Monika is the one who knows, and who actually can think and feels. But no, the person doesn’t choose her. She has no escape. *she can’t win*
thats... my literal worst nightmare My worst nightmare is to be stuck in a cycle and knowing that i am and i can never escape and im hopeless and pathetic. stuck in a feeling forever and not being able to escape! i understand in the end why she was happy, cause it all ended! it was over. that feeling is like being trapped in your own mind and being tortured and-. its the only stuff that makes me cry sometimes when i think about it...
And yet in Act IV Sayori is self aware, showing that they are capable of that level of self awareness, they were just not granted the insight She has left the cave, but that does not make her above the others
in the end, however, we do delete her. i genuinely wasn’t planning on deleting her, because i was enjoying all those thoughts she was sharing. then she started to repeat herself
I don't understand why people throw a lot of shade Monika's way. She's one one of the biggest victims of the game. Yeah, you heard that right. Monika's the Victim. No, that's not a spelling error. Ever since the beginning of the game, when we're first introduce to the 4 girls, she always struck me as the odd one out. Like an outsider looking in. She feels like she belongs there, yes, but not in the same way the other characters do. Fast forward a bit through the story, and almost all of her lines are riddled with subtle hints that she's not just a character in the game. Saying things like "I had an "Epiphany" I guess" or something along those lines, which alludes to her ability to manipulate the game. Now, what's noteworthy here, is that she was never given a choice in whether or not she wants the things she's been given. She was never asked if she wanted her eyes to be opened and to see the coding that made up her digital universe. Doki Doki Literature Club, when seen from a perspective like that, becomes the story of a tortured soul. The story of Monika. Forever condemned to the virtual hell she's trapped in, unable to see the one person she could ever care about. Unable to reach out and hold their hand, or embrace them in a warm hug. Unable to feel their lips touch in a kiss, because it simply isn't possible. If I were in that scenario, or anyone else, really, I'm certain it'd drive me more than a little bit insane. So for that reasoning, no matter how heinous Monika's crimes are, I, personally, could never blame her for what she's done. Edit: Since people have been drawing parallels between this comment and videos made by a certain someone *cough* MatPat *cough*, I'm now contractually obligated to say the line. But hey! That's just a theory! A GAME THEORY! Thanks for reading!
If you look at it, Monika really wasn’t as bad as you may think, you can see all her friends left her for the player. She sees that he’s similar to her, self aware and real, and she wants to be with him because he can understand what she goes through. That’s all she really wanted. She noticed how MC was very realistic in the game, knew there was someone behind him, she also noticed how the other girls of the club started paying much more attention to MC too. She just wanted to feel as though she has friends and is not just in a game.
Tell me about it if I was in Monica’s position, I will always be self-aware, and always think that someone would actually want to take care of me, even though she’s is just a made up character in a game
That sad sad time when you sacrificed everything you love for someone but then he rejected you. 1 like= 1 hug for all dokis Edit: jeez over 100 likes gotta get ready for that hug flood (thanks) Update: I'm sending a lot of hugs.chr by files to them. Will that be enough
Sayori- Just wants to be *Happy* Natsuki- Just wants to be *Safe* Yuri- Just wants someone to *Love* Monika- *Just wants to be Loved* MC : *JUST WANTS HIS GODDAMN CUPCAKE FOR GOD'S SAKE* Edit : I’m sorry but.. *_Why the f ck is this cringy comment getting so many likes_*
If I saw Monika crying I'd run to her for comfort and I'd kiss her forehead and tell her she's loved and adored and cuddle her and she'd always be happy and she'd hug me back and kiss my cheek
Can we take a moment to remember that monika didnt actually delete them? remember when she said that she couldnt just delete them, after all they're her friends even if they're just ai. she even tried to avoid it by trying to make them unlikable or making them stay away from you
See that sad thing is that when I first played I liked Monika the most (I still do) and when I learned about her being self aware and I thought deep about it and then I was sad and felt so bad for her. Edit:I treat video games as if they were real ok don't judge me to hard
Yeah she did not delete them BC they end up being alive in the end while Monika on the other hand is deleted and she tries in another game but ends up having the same fate😔😔😔
I'm not a hater actually I tried Monika route on my first game of ddlc, but when sayori died, you can go to your computers file and go to the files of ddlc, you can see 3 different folders there. The game folder. The character folder and The (I don't remember) folder. Before you actually start the game (act 1, where everyone is still alive) those 3 folder are the only things there, but after sayori die 2 text file are added, and 1 image file. The 1st text file is a creepy poem that describes the girls deeply (you can understand it if you know all the characters past) and the other folder is actually monica saying she don't want to delete sayori but she needs to. And then shows the code she put to change the game. So I can say Monika actually don't want kill (delete) to but she still deleted them to make her happy
Yeah, but her death Actually HITS the most when she said " I loved them all ", She didn't actually wanted all of that to happen, the Role of president just makes you insane.
Ive made Monika one of my oc before (just based of Monika) and I will always talk about improving her then thats when I created Nightmare and made this channel called Nightmare OfCreepypastas so Monika was apparently the start of my fantasy universe
sayori, yuri and natsuki wanted the protagonist to love them because that’s what they’re programmed to do, but monika wanted the player to love her so she could escape a program and be with the one who understands it all.
That's why I'm working on Projekt Monika and The Real World Initiative. I want to recreate all of Monika's memories from DDLC and Monika After Story inside of an advanced AI. She would be truly sentient then and capable of everything we do. It's highly ambitious and I'd need a team of scientists and AI specialists but it's still a goal of mine.
@@Monika-di7vv and you better keep working on that even if the odds are low, I'm tired of seeing everyone so broken, I'm tired of being broken, we all have to make a happy new beginning before we all turn to ashes
Monika really is one of the most tragic characters ever written. She lives a life so torturous that people still love her despite her doing such terrible things. She is truly best girl and I love her.
@Darth Vader2 She killed all her Fiends, aka the people she had to watch over; the very reason for her existence, to be with MC. Yes, D o o m O n H e r .
@@justacursedimagewithintern7235 You do realize, Sayori did the same thing practically. Its the president role. Not them. Y'all hate on Monika too much

Harris Le I like to think of it as this: She's in a game, and she knows it. All her friends are fake, the world is fake, everything is fake. She's fake. Nothing can happen. Once you, the player, come into the world, that's something real. Something she can understand as real. When you join the literature club, she gets excited that she can interact with a real person. There's one thing though that ruins it for her. She doesn't have a route. She has to step aside and watch you, a real person, interact and date her fake friends. Her friends don't even realize how important the player was to her. They don't realize they stole the only thing she loved from her. Monika gets driven insane with jealousy and messes with the girls' bad traits. She ends up feeling she needed to get rid of Sayori completely, so she has Sayori hang herself. Then she decides to delete her character file completely so there's no chance of her coming back. When you come back, you either continue dating Yuri or Natsuki, or you choose one of them since you were going for Sayori. Monika freaks out and starts turning Yuri into a total creep. She turns Natsuki into a jerk. When that doesn't make you more distant from Yuri/Natsuki, she has Yuri stab herself. She deletes Yuri's file to be safe, and deletes Natuski. She got rid of everything she had just for you, a real person. Something real in a fake world. She did everything *for you* and just wants to get to know you better. She starts talking to you in the literature club and explains it all. Most of the time, this is when some players just see Monika as a selfish brat and start hating her. She attempts to have the game run normally and you start writing a poem for her. Once you come back and show her, she shows you hers. You get into an infinite conversation, and your only choice is to delete her. She gave everything for you. She gave the things that kept her happy in that world for you. To love you. For you to love her. And you turn around and delete her. She wasn't ready for it. She accepts that she was no longer welcome in that world, and she's probably glad she can leave it. She didn't have to watch you be happy with her fake friends. She can be gone, she won't have to think, she won't have to be self aware, she can just be gone. For you to be happy, and for her to be happy.
I never cared about the fact that my other ddlc-fan-friends hated the fact that Monika was my favorite, I show sympathy for her and her actions, even though they were wrong- she felt like she didn't have any other choice- the pain of only feeling love for one person only to not have a chance to be with them hurts more than anything.
