As someone else said it’s ridiculous that insurance companies don’t recognise it , could they be being paid ( allegedly) by much more expensive tracker companies not to . Got the original one on my bike and has worked perfectly for five years 😊👍👍 ps it’s the same with locking chains , my bike is secured with the strongest and most expensive Abus chain recommended by one insurance company, but my company have never heard of it weird 🤪🤪
This could use doublestick to mount inside a panel and charge via MagSafe through the panel. Could use a large magsafe battery pack you stick up to it once a month, or even slap on while you ride so its topped off by the time you arrive. I think enough bikes have a semi flat plastic panel somewhere to facilitate this.
Sorry to say but I use the previous gen on my bikes and it works intermittently. Doesn’t matter where I am the signal is poor, I’m looking for an alternative
I found the same, the key fob needs to be very close to the tracker unit. I worked round this however it can be a bit impracticable. I also get phantom low battery alerts now and again which can be a pain in the A!
Only thing I've found similar to this in the US is the Invoixia gps tracker. I have to charge that up every 3-4 months though. It is about 1/3 the size of this one though.
My Monimoto 7 battery life is nowhere near 2 years. 9 months at best, using the recommended Energiser Lithium AA batteries. The bike is stored most of the time and isn't used regularly, so there shouldn't be any significant battery drain. Energiser Lithium batteries aren't cheap, so the Monimoto 9, with the upgraded features and rechargeable battery, is a better bet, in my opinion.
Not interested in a unit that isn't a "stand alone" device where I also need to purchase an annual subscription. Plus from their web site "Once the motion stops, you'll get a notification with its last-known location about 30 minutes later.". I would want a second by second update, not one about 30 minutes later.
