I agree I haven't heard too many speakers at any price that sound better than these. Not Wilson or Raidho or Focal TAD. None of those speakers have the three dimensionality depth and imaging and the air layering between the instruments like the platinum's do.
these are much better than the magico way more three-dimensional and natural sounding and the only cost 1/3 as much and they look about a million times better also beat focal and Wilson if they were still made in England they would be just as much as magico Wilson or focal.
Finally I had chance to hear new McIntosh 1.25 KW and McIntosh C1100 to pair PL500, I also compared same High Res music files side by side to ARC 750 SE paired with C1100 with PL500. My first impression to the same music files was that McIntosh C1100 tube to ARC 750SE together tube pre& tube amp to PL500 are still the best combo they produce such natural sound with huge 3D feel. When switch to SS 1.25 KW even they have similar sound stage but just little shy on liquate feel but still excellent ecosystem. I also had audition ( not same time same room ) using same High Res file (DSD128 DSD 256 ) for MC1100 & MC 1,25KW & B&W 800 D3 for some reason I still love PL500 natural sound image than 800 D3. Hope some time in near future to audition Magico M3 esh or Wilson Audio. I love Focal Sopra 3 but my personal view they are good for modern music like Jazz but PL500 are more for classical music and vocals it is true personal preference.
From what i can judge from my Macbookpro + audeze LXD-X Headphones the PL500II provide lots of width and depth information. Hi´s (HiHat) seem to be to ear fatiguing for me. My Horn speakers provide the same amount of detail with less sharpness. The PL500II also do not reproduce the deep bass parts in this track (or they have not been recorded by the mic), which my horns easily reproduce despite using not so deep-bass capable PA Chassis. otherwise, nice speakers.
i have gold 200 speakers ,but would up grade to these bad boys if i had the spare cash..but its not just that,its the amps to go with them and then a good cd player and the list goes on ...into many thousands..ha

Just look at the built quality, it says it all (and it sounds like plastics as well). Basically a MidFi product at best." @@richarddehonney7374 hey Richard how you doing well I guess he must be pretty blind if he thinks that the build quality of the Platinum is plastic with Strathsprey leather on the front which is the best leather in the world and 11 layers of hand polished lacquer and the best drivers in the world which other companies want according to One reviewer and the a3 is just an ugly looking metal box if you put them side by side people would be laughing at how much nicer the Platinum looks. And as for sound I've listened to the a3 and the Platinum side by side and the Platinum is much more three-dimensional and has a more enveloping sound stage that makes you feel like you're right in the middle of the performance so anyone who's heard the Platinum knows that he's lying. So if he wants to show how stupid he is I say go for it LOL

@@chrisrichards2827 again, nothing wrong if some people like a more mellow midrange. I personally like the midrange on the platinums but I wont tell others to check their ears if they find it overwhelming. Its all about preference.

As long as you do not turn volume too high I guess will not damage speaker, I only use 50% of the C1100 preamp the sound stage already full room, have not tried using more than 55% since it will damage my ear before damage the speaks I think. Need audiophile pro to answer your technical questions, I am just music lover :)) ANYWAY VERY TOUGH QUESTIONS YOU HAVE :)))))
BTW I just noticed PL500 handle 400W RMS that should be much different as peak level than some speaker claim 1000W :)) still need experts answer you good questions :)))
How about Sonus Faber Lilium compare this ? I am think to buy one of used not sure it will fit to my ARC GS150 ? Thanks for your strong believer of PL500 II must have your good reason? PRICE? Performance ? Style? Like to know :)))))
@@wanlongyu7327 the price of the 500 ll is around 30,000 US and if you look at the fit and finish of the speaker it looks like a $100,000 speaker, and I can tell you from hearing them personally they're every bit as good as Magico for 60 to 80,000 or any other speaker in that price range.

@@richarddehonney7374 well I guess you'd have to quantify what the definition of detail is, but all I can say is that MPD Twetter is so natural when it comes to highs like cymbals, and the naturalness and the warmth and the three-dimensionality is incredible. As for amps and 3ms that's a personal pace for everybody I guess. But I have a SIM audio p8 preamp and w8 amp. So I believe any good high-end stuff will sound great with these speakers as long as it's not bright because these speakers are very neutral, they'll just show everything off good and bad.

I have listened to several speakers above $50K and I've decided to keep my PL500 II speakers. I currently use a Jeff Rowland 625 S2 amplifier with a Jeff Rowland Corus preamp. I'm just looking for the next level up.
