While he does shine here and there, I do really wish Stottlemayer had more scenes where he demonstrates that he's a good detective as well. Maybe not as good as Monk, but definetly solid in his own right Because, really, they both noticed something that was staring the other in the face and both were needed to solve it. Monk pointed out how ludicrous it was that the killer threw the body out the window, drawing unneccesary attsntion to himself, unless he knew he had a rock solid alibi. Meanwhile, Stottlemayer presented a simple solution to a, at first glance, mindbending problem which ended up being kind of accurate to what the killer actually did.
In later seasons Monk doesn't know how to work a VCR for some reason and doesn't even know the words for rewind, pause and fast-forward. I don't know why the writers felt the need to make him inept. He was obsessive and compulsive but he was not stupid or sheltered but some of the writers decided they were the same thing and it annoys me every time I watch him act like a bumbling fool.
I watched this episode when I was like 12 or 13. And when I saw the title I still remembered clearly how the guy had done it! This is what is amazing about the show, the crimes are so criative that they stick with you. This idea is genius!
@hockey1freak, we have that kind of running where I live, except of course not that many runners. A roughly 60 mile race from Lincoln to Omaha, is usually 8-10 people taking turns. A vehicle picks the stray runners.
@@csgoclipsbyjunes5499 I mean, he essentially did. He’s the one that gave Monk the final potential piece of the puzzle. Even if he was skeptical about the dude being guilty, that’s not something Monk would’ve immediately thought of. The Captain can have his moments
Yeah, I loved this show, but whoever wrote the sports stuff always showed a very shallow understanding of sports. There was a football episode that was absolutely terrible.
a cleaver plan the flaw is leaving it behind -its the one thing that can prove it if someone is smart enough to figure it out like monk. never underestimate your opposition
Even if Trevor DID retrieve the chip... they could still get him on the TIME STAMPS... see, the time stamps of the checkpoints would coincide and be synced to the cameraman footage as well. They would see every other runner at those checkpoints around the same time the motorcycle cameraman was there, but not Mr. McDowell.
How is it unrealistic? Keep in mind when this episode aired and the tech of that day.. Even in today's world if a camera catches it but the police don't know about the camera they won't have the video..
what if the camera guy had crossed the finish line first? that would have been pretty sus. also just pretty sus that he would have one of the leading times. there'd been an investigation into cheating for sure.
The famous runner the camera was following was well past the peak of his career. His finishing time of 3:41:18 would've been over an hour behind the leaders (the slowest ever winning time in the SF marathon was 2:37:27). No one would've looked into the time of a middle-of-the-pack runner.
People have stolen phones of people and put those accounts on them everywere. With lewd nasty content. Police even saw the hacking in action 3 times. But couldnt know who was doing that to me.
Yup, he shook the hands of all the women that worked there and then the black guy last and then used his wipe because he just touched 5 people, but to them it looked like it was because he touched black guy haha.
Can easily be solved if Sharona said "He's germaphobic". Yes it's patient-nurse confidentiality but it's better to violate that than to be accused of being racist. Because Monk dislikes almost everyone equally.
@@iganpparamarta8813 Nah cuz that would make them be like “Oh so black people have germs do they?” Or some such And they tried to explain he does that for everyone but no one would listen
@@iganpparamarta8813 He did but the guy didn't believe him saying implying if he was a German germaphobe he would have wiped his hands after each handshake instead of just his.
