I knew I wasn't crazy when I initially saw it was supposed to be Japan only! A place I would camp at with my family every year has an arcade building and sometimes the games would come and go every year. One year it was Monkey Ball with the banana stick. It wasn't there anymore the year after though. I was excited to play monkey ball there again lol
The game was released in Japan in 2001 by Sega and Amusement Vision with the the help of the Dole Food Company with the stickered bananas with that brand, along with special stages as well, floor 8 is Dole, extra floor 3 is Amusement Vision and floor 21 is Sega. The game was later rereleased in 2002 in North America, dubbed in English, before that, you could end up in prison for copyright infringement of this game.
What the fuck?! I was like 4 years old at like a GattiTown (2003) vaguely playing the games with the weird ass orange key's that you plug into the cabinets readers. I still remember the Banana joystick because how fucking weird it was. And being too short to reach the cabinet without any assistance. I wish I can go back in time...
To be honest, I should agree with everybody. That game should be good on the SEGA Dreamcast because the graphics look splendid and it's awesome that there is a vocoded voice of Matt Brian who commentates on the game. After Amusement Vision ended, Banana Blitz and all other things, you don't want to play these, it's minging. Except the remakes, the Amusement Vision developed games, that DS game and the Step and Roll Balance Board video game. What do you agree on?
This game was lit. So was SMB 1 and 2. The games after that were poo. I didn't like the weird as heck and overly colorful visuals and redesigns where it looks like a- bleugh... Ugh.
The PS Vita of the game was overall okay, from what I heard. I played the 3DS one and it was just boring as fuck, it was meant for the gyro controls but didn't excuse the uneventful level design's with rarely any challenges. Blitz on the Wii I played the most when I was growing up, Love the music and the motion controls wasn't a hassle for the most part. The remake does a poor job fixing the game's flaws and criticism. Boss battles should never be a thing in a game about precision movement, Jumping is fucking broken and can save yourself from getting a fallout constantly till your luck runs out (Mable blast series have jumping and does a much better job) and overall the stages don't comprehend the analog control's now making it too easy to blast though. And the Mini-games they picked out fucking sucks, only 10 that was hand-picked out of 50 in the Original game and most aren't even good to begin with. Not even monkey race made it which makes me so upset... I wish Sega just remade the first 2 games and call it a day at the beginning when they decided to revive an overdue franchise. No wonder they are still in the ground with business decisions!
