@@kerstinhenry6643 They're smart enough to know this is their gig. 😂 They practice plenty of times if they weren't in too it this wouldn't work at all.
I just saw a story about this on FoxSports 1. If you're coming here to say how horrible this is because the monkeys are strapped to the dogs ... they are not. The owner teaches them to ride the dogs and they are not strapped or tied on.
I just hate how everyone is so happy but the monkeys are strapped on there for entertainment that is just abuse but humans don't care! Because almost all of them are heartless
I agree it's exploitative but the harm if any is caused is psychological purely. The monkeys are taught how to balance on a moving dog & they learn with the dogs at the same time how to ride. It's no different to a house pet like a dog being taught tricks by its owner. Also they learn to ride (physically, at least) safely & are not actually strapped to the dogs. It's just they get confident at holding on & in fact, once the monkeys are used to it, actually relish the rush of riding in the same way as when kids finally master riding bikes. The issue of psychological harm I see a problem with but not physical. Monkeys have much higher cartilage & muscle mass compared to humans & can cope with any G-force much more easily so no issue of physical injury.
if they were tied, they'd be flopping around and He lifts them off at the end of the other video - the saddle is well-designed to hold on, the monkeys have the "gallop" pose down - they appear to love it
The monkeys do flop about. They have no choice, this is blatant cruelty to the monkeys - be honest about it, that's if your master in the church allows a little honesty.
Wow the way some people were talking about this act I thought they were going to slaughter the monkeys, dogs and rams after the show was over and eat them...like they do the bulls after a bullfight and Spain....
I don’t know if they really are tied but at about 4:17 the monkeys paws shift and sent tied I think. And a little before a dog had an empty saddle. I don’t know if the monkey got off or what.
I feel like there is potential for injury to the monkeys due to being strapped to the dogs. When the dogs make sharp, quick turns, the monkeys are whipped side to side and back to front putting a lot of force and torque on the mid-spine. Also these animals are most likely wild caught when very young and now living in very unnatural, highly stressful conditions.
the monkeys have much lower bodymass than the dogs and the strength of bone and cartilage relative to their mass is very high compared to humans. smaller things almost ALWAYs survive greater g-forces before sustaining damage.
Of course you are right, Angela. There is no question that this is a major stressor for the monkeys and pure sadism and exploitation on the part of these low level entrepreneurs. Those who find it entertaining are bereft of intellect.
This is fucking DISGUSTING. They have no way out no way to get off this is so fucking cruel. To have an innocent little baby monkey forced to do something it doesn’t want to do, and just imagine how often it has to go through this it’s fucking terrifying. People who laugh or support this are sick. If you’re precious pet dog or cat went through something as horrible as being STRAPPED ON ANOTHER ANIMAL AND FORCED TO RIDE IT ALL DAY WITH THAT KIND OF SPEED AND TURNS AND THEN PUT IN A FUCKING CAGE AT THE END OF THE DAY you would be upset and reconsidering how “entertaining” and “funny” this is. There’s nothing funny or cool about being heartless when will people start being fucking humane again.

You shouldn't assume these monkeys are kept in cages either. Terrible if they are, but a separate issue that cannot be assumed either way without proof
Yes. They've also been forced to do that. (and have had all their teeth taken out, so they can't bite back, when they're forced to do things they don't want to do). The priority for the monkey's owners are money, not the welfare of the monkey.
For all you haters do you put your dog in its pen at night or when your away, and do you walk your dog on a leash and make him them do tricks for your amusement ,huh something you might wanna think about
Its kinda cruel but not really, I mean cutting a rhino's horn off and leaving it to die, killing a tiger for its skin or keep thousands of chickens together, along with other things, is cruel, all this is, is Border Collies having fun herding sheep with Capuchin monkeys having a ride on their backs, they are strapped on so if they lose grip they don't seriously injure themselves. The Borders enjoy it and the Monkeys seem to enjoy it too. So rather than complaining this is cruel, look outside, and see what other animal cruelty is happening right now.
+Lexie Brothers Yes, there is a lot worse cruelty of animals around the world, but this is not 'kinda' cruel, its very cruel. I don't think its fair to say that the border collies enjoy this rodeo, or the monkeys. These dogs are trained to stop and start abruptly so that the monkeys are violently jerked up and down and side to side, risking serious injury. They are taken from their mothers shortly after being born, -which is a cruel practise for the mothers and the babies. They are also forced to perform tricks, which is confusing and un natural for them, and as a result, the monkey "performers" often develop neurotic and self-destructive behavior. Many suffer from debilitating loneliness and depression. All animals should be treated fairly, so i wouldn't go telling other people who are concerned about this to leave it and focus on other animals being treated poorly ✌🏼
+hannah kwai Actually, we own 3 border collies, and I have grown up with dogs and to me these borders just look like they're stalking something and don't seem bothered at all.
The correct term is 'collies' not borders. i have also grown up with dogs and i am very passionate about them, i can read a dogs body language. The dogs shown here are trained to put on a show, we wouldn't if they are bothered or not. After the show they are most likely kept in a cage, with little food until training time. Monkeys riding dogs is far from natural, you cant speak for them saying that they simply are happy and not bothered hun
+hannah kwai Saying "collie" isn't correct because Collie is a breed in itself m8, its like calling a french bulldog a pug. So if you say "I own a Collie" people will think you have a different breed, saying Border is more correct.
Sorry I don't agree that it's cruel and I am a very devout animal lover. I think it is SOOO cool. I love the old west and I watch all the shows like Gunsmoke, Bonanza etc., and to see those monkeys dressed like cowboys and riding those dogs with little saddles.... WOW!!!
