Hey guys, STK here back with the playthrough of Wukong Black Myth on the PS5 Please like, comment, and subscribe. Enjoy the gameplay! Black Myth: Wukong 4K PS5 Gameplay
For those wondering, yes he is wukong. Wukong split himself into 6 relics to prevent himself from being fully sealed. The character we play as is the embodiment of the 6th relic. In the end you absorb the other 5 and become the real wukong AGAIN. In the bad ending the destined one reject his past self and doesnt fully revive and chooses to become a pawn for the gods while the old wukong remains trapped in the stone. The original wukong couldn't get rid of that headband that weakened him so he came up with a plan with erlang to die and be reborn without the headband weakening him. His reincarnation is the destined one aka the mc for this game. He let erlang kill him and erlang kept his memori3s inside his 3rd eye and waited for him to be reincarnated. Erlang himself admitted in the game when u meet him again that no one could e killed wukong besides himself confirming wukong let erlang kill him. This reincarnation was born stronger because he didn't have the headband. My guess is they're gonna release a bug dlc continuing the story with wukong fighting heaven. I think the continuation will be a dlc because the creator said the next black myth game will be based on a different mythological story from Chinese novels. This is suppose to be the start of a series of different black myth games set in different chinese mythology stories. As to why erlang would help wukong eventhough they were rival. I have no idea and the game doesn't explain it
A bit different than what i grasp from the game, actually if you are familiar with the actual legend, sun wu kong had always been an embodiment of freedom. Erlang being a rival but also a friend with him, Erlang bond with him deeply bcuz in the old legend(didn't mention in game) Erlang us a human child that try to save her mom and wreak havoc within the celestial court(that axe is the weapon he use to chop off an entire region of celestial court), same as Wukong, after that incident he had been elected as god (but actually celestial court just want to keep an eye on him, just like Wukong). Thats why he always say Wukong is stupid to deny his destiny, you can see it when he say wether he lose or win, they will burn down Huaguo mountain nonetheless.
ok this is an awesome explanation. i was always wondering why there were only 5 glowing orbs (the relics). whether your explanation is canon or not, it really seals the deal for me. i kept wondering why there needs to be a destined one to awaken wukong and why we're not playing as wukong
wukong's 6 relics are buddhism's six types of consciousness: eye-consciousness (that is, consciousness based on the eyes), ear-consciousness, nose-consciousness, tongue-consciousness, body-consciousness and mind-consciousness.
For anyone who might find this funny to know and might not be aware, WuKong peed on one of the five pillars of the universe which also happens to be Buddha's fingers.
9:43 that liquid you see is the pee, Buddha fingers is as big as a mountain. WuKong challenged buddha and despite somersaulting for 5000 km, he fails to escape Buddha's palm
No sequel, DLC maybe. But the creators have already said the next Black Myth game will be of a different Chinese mythological story. You might already know this as it’s been a week but still.
@@michaelfade9511 well if it’s going to be a different Chinese mythological story, then we can still end up getting Wukong lore. I mean imagine making a God of War game based around Freya. You’re still going to get new Kratos lore.
To me, Wukong has already surpassed the concept of dying or being reborn. He's already surpassed all that, as long as he has his senses or relics, any of his clones can become him. So the destined one was a clone or a shell that got all relics, regained his senses and memories and thus, just continue being wukong. The story taking place after the whole journey to the west further proves my point, he's already become a Buddha, so he cant die. Remember there's this Jackie chan and jet li movie about the monkey king where wukong got tricked by the jade emperor snd got turned into a stone, but before fully becoming a stone, he sent his staff away along with his hair which turned to a clone, cause he knows as long as the staff returns to him, he'll always be back
Ascending the Bhudda status already granted you the freedom from Samsara or the cycle of rebirth, freed you from earthly attachment and elevated you to a state of being far beyond mere gods, but Wukong in this game apparently abandoned that
I read the earlier comments that it was his plan to die so he could be reborn without the headband that was weakening him, So he purposefully let himself be killed, set things up so his memories would be returned, so he'd be returned to full power/freedom he had before he had to wear the headband. He used death as a respawn/hard reset. Which I think is the better form of immortality rather than trapped in a invincible body.
Wukong was so determined to not be controlled by the heavens, that he put his faith in the wheel of Reincarnation. He trusted that he would be reborn free of the headband and that his new incarnation could find the relics and allow him to live unshackled. The Wukong at the end is the Destined One having recieved Wukong memories of the Journey to the West and finally allowing the Monkey to live freely. Maybe he'll finally live on his mountain in peace, or maybe he'll take his war back to the Celestial Court and finally get his revenge. Either way...he is free.
My understanding of the story is that the 'OG Wukong' is indeed dead. But the game is trying to let us know that make the OG Wukong back to life is not the point. The point is to behold a soul for true freedom, just as the OG Wukong was dead for. It is not about the reincarnation of the OG Wukong but rather, to become a NEW Wukong holding the same value true to the OG Wukong's will for freedom and keep fighting the court or whoever will try to take that freedom away. So there will be endless "Wukong" in the sence of there will always be a "destinyed one" who has the spirit of Wukong's free will to fight against the court no matter how many monkeys they have killed or sealed. The game is really saying this via Erlang's dialoug, where he said to MC that "no one cak kill Wukong bu HIMSELF". This is the whole point to me: Wukong will only truly die when no one is willing to take that will of freedom anymore. So we as players, we are the one who is going to take Wukong's will of freedom and contiune the fight. As long there is the will, Wukong will live forever. Great game.
No, it’s more that wukong got bored of the rules of heaven so he returned to earth but the gods didn’t like this so they began attacking him and his people but he didn’t have the power to stop it because of the restricting gold headband which is still on him so wukong worked along side earlang to” fake” His death by splitting himself into six relics representing each one of the Buddha consciousness eyes nose ears mouth body and mind the destined one is the mind. When all six relics are brought together wuKong would be resurrected without the golden headband truly setting him free. earlang part in the plan was to store wuKong memories in his third eye until the destined one was ready. If you don’t fight him and you go straight to Kong you don’t have the memories so you don’t understand wukongs reasoning and therefore you reject the old wukong And give yourself over to the heavenly Court
@@marshmellowknightvlogs2916 No you are only looking at this skin deep. I've finished the game already with secret ending and 6 relic. I think what you and everyone are saying is just the surface level story of the game but deep dowm, the game is not about this at all. It is the spirit of fighting against fate and hold on one's own free will. It is much more than just get rid of that band. Wukong is the living spirit of evey fighting soul who are suffering from oppression and unjust by the court.
I hope they make an anime show or sequel video game of black myth wukong in the next years to come to create new lore and continuation of journey of the west saga.
Remember Bajie's line when he first meet the Destined One? He says: "Ah, that same look again. A furry coat and a pinched face. Luck's all you've got Great, another mute. Whatever, let's not dally..." How many are there trying to find & claim the relic?
Throughout the years many have been called the destined one but it's implied the one we play as is the true destined one and the rest all gave up halfway
According to wiki... the monke keep sending their youths to collect all the relic.. whoever success means he was Wukong Reincarnation... So it means hundreds already try it.
@@scottcheng2365 i believe that the Macque Chief were once a Destined Once, but fail due to Yellowbrow, same thing is about to happen to our current Destined One, but he prevail...
With the animation like these, they remind me of Asura's wrath. I hope if there's the dlc I want to have Asura's Wrath dlc treatment when the destined one finally achieves nirvana.
The story feels abit similar to movie forgot the title plot is where jet li play monkey king and he is cursed to become stone so he throw away his staff and he make a clone and he send him away so the clone could break the curse with the staff
To add to the lore if i remember correctly Nezha also at some point rebel against the Court and had to rip up his own body so that his family could live in peace then resurrected using parts of a lotus. He later became a deity serving the Court. I also read somewhere that Nezha and Wukong had the same master.
Never played this game and I saw people saying it 100% deserves game of the year, and tbh the artwork alone in the cutscenes and it being a pseudo anime, sold me.
Yes and no. To become Buddha is to become everything. He would need to escape from Buddha's palm to truly win and that would mean exiting the universe completely.
@@harleykennedy7922 Wukong never achieved Nirvana even in Journey to the West. His Buddhahood was as a title granted by a Buddha and not the result of his own enlightenment. Every other Buddha didn't need Tathagata to make them a Buddha, they were Buddha because they were Buddha. Really it is a repeat of the whole Jade Palace making him a stable keeper thing. They turned him into a minion they could send out to wreck havoc by giving him an empty title.
Basically Wukong had died and this is his reincarnation. But I think it’s all a trick. Wukong dies on purpose so his reincarnation can become like him but without the Headband. It was a way for him to break free I think. Erlang is kinda in on it too I believe and lets it all happen.
@@wr5488 i dont think he die on battle of 6 Yaoguai King plus Erlang , if he died headband will took off , no reason his reincarnation go kill Wukong Broken Shell , i'm just curious where that reincarnation come from? like Wukong if he reincarnation , his reborn stone will blowsup , but the stone still there and his powerfful body still inside.
@@fredki1from my understanding Wukong and Erlang made an agreement to where Wukong allows Erlang to kill Wukong This allowed the parts/senses/powers of Wukong to be shattered across reality which the destined one (or Wukong resurrection) claimed all to become the new Wukong and as you put the headband in the normal ending you become a Wukong under the court ruining his play but from the secret ending you also gain the memories of Wukong so you know not to wear the headband and become a Wukong that’s free of the headband Which is why he died so he can become free of it with his resurrection/destined one He defeated the memory/stone monkey/broken shell as that contained the last sense for Wukong (you get the 6th sense from new game + but it’s assumed from here) I assume this is all Wukong plain as when you fight Erlang he state if he wonders if this is part of the monkey plan to fight
@@RandomName12345he also stated “i can’t kill that monkey. no one can, except himself “ so yeah wukong let himself to die while leaving his memory in erlang third eye so that he can be free from the headband bc no one can kill wukong even the Buddha can only seal him away.
Wukong died and became a stone. This stone was creat by sky and the earth, which is wukong's parents. As the sky and the earth are alaways existing, that stone will alaways born a new monkey, you can think that new monkey(destinded one )is Wukong brother or sister.
No, JTW is done, Wk got his saint title and live under heaven rule (may be in heaven palace too, i guess). Then he got bored with all the rules and back to his mountain. Heaven want him to be in control and then we have the game.
Basically that journey are an assasination antempt by the Celestial Palace. It's meant to be failed. For some reason he and the gang succeed to finish JTW. However the Celestial Palace want to control Buddha/Wu Kong. Original Wu Kong got killed by the celestials, but before he got killed he seperate his souls, and bet on the reincarnation to reborn and rebel against celestial. Toasting to his fallen brother, now the reborn Wukong will go to heaven and probably wrecking havoc for the last time.
@@ogenteng It calls "五行山" a fiction mountain inspired from Chinese Five Great Mountain that you could find in wikipedia. Buddha use it to punish Wukong 500 years before JTTW for wrecking the heaven.
So this ia the story of the wukong that aftwr JTTW didn't triumph buddha and surpassed him but the one who got freed from his shackles. He did not overcome it so he had to reincarnate
more like after becoming Buddha he decided to return to earth because he doesn’t like the rules of heaven but the gods didn’t like that and because he wasn’t able to remove his headband he worked alongside earlang To “fake” his own death, He splintered himself into six artifacts in Destin one being his mind, in order to resurrect without the headband regaining his full power and his freedom
TIPS LAST SCENE OF THE GAME IS ALREADY, but it explains the section Beginning of the game - decision to invade heavenly court (centuries ago): > When he decided to invade the heavenly court (for reasons of the novel) > When the war started (he was stronger than everyone) > The court asked Buddha for help and Buddha challenged him and he won, and he pissed on the pillars that were Buddha's fingers, he did not achieve Buddha's challenge and Buddha imprisoned him in the mountain for centuries. > when he was freed by the pilgrim and began the journey to the west (with Buddha's approval) > when the pilgrim tricked him and made wukong put on the headband to control him (he was very violent) > when boar (punished by heavenly court) challenged what would be the 3rd member (who would join, also punished by heavenly court) >when the 3 protectors + pilgrim fought a thousand battles >when they returned with the writings to the east from the west. >when he obtained the title of bhuda victorious fighter from buddha. >When he challenged the court again (they had committed genocide with his people) Would this be the start of the game?
So to my understanding, in this version Buddha actually never removed his headband after journey to the west? Hence why all of this elaborate scheme between Wukong and Erlang Shen happened
Oh my the English dubbed has a great voice. But the script/lines were butchered! Translating is hard, but the epic and impact are almost all gone! “Watch me get it off and break free?” Nah it’s “Open your mongrel eyes and watch me take it off!” Nah this isn’t enough.
The devs lack experience (which is to be expected). In a recent interview, the head dev was asked about the pitfalls and regrets they encountered while making the game. Localization was one of them. He admitted that they only allowed a one-month window for the localization team. Interestingly, I was in the same QQ group where they hired translators for the job. After the game was released, one of the translators mentioned that the translation team was shocked to learn they had only one month for a project like this, but they gave it their best. So in this regard, I would say kudos to the translation team, given the time they had.
The game should have been the story of How he became the monkey king Then the end of the game should have been the battle Of the beginning of the game Because it don't make sense that another monkey can use A staff if there's only one of those staffs And the abilities that he used but the monkey king has not dead only sealed away
This and the first half of the original novel are all about freedom. The headband is in fact a brand for slavery. There will not be a continuation of this story. If there were, it would be the same as the original. This is as far as stories go from China. A desire for freedom buried deep and a destiny of servitude for generation upon generation. God bless the creator of this master piece. May the story be told through real life.
He's a fragment of the original Wukong. So in a way he's a part of the original one that gave up on his immortality so he could start anew on a simpler life. This "fragment" exists precisely for this purpose, and by recovering the relics thar represent the other 5 pieces of Wukong, he essentially becomes Wukong's reincarnation/successor. Defeating the secret final boss, though, also allows for him to regain the original Wukong's memories, making him basically Wukong once more.
@@AtomicoMacacoi think he do that to also became himself again WITHOUT the headband which the old monkey tried to put it back on him in bad ending he didn’t regain memory and accepted the headband become a monkey whose obey the court In true ending after regaining his memory from erlang reliving his life in reverse probably aware of it and ultimately refused to wear the headband again making him a wukong without the headband
Okay the title is misleading but the destined one does become a "Wu Kong" but still retains his individuality so that he isnt just a mere reincarnation of his predecessor
For all u dummies out there who do not understand this outstanding lore like I do, it’s ok, just play the game, it’s still a great game no matter what ending u get 😁😁
Yo spoiler alert. Come on now. You had spoilers in the thumbnail and title. Even without clicking on the video, the thumbnail being put in people's face is still a spoiler. You're killing me smalls. Many are people are still going through this game considering it's still new.
