Yeah, they were a decent family even as antagonists but that possession thing really taught them their lesson... and now they're just a wholesome family of demons.
They definitely were very dysfunctional, and DBK especially treated Red Son like garbage (he was power-hungry and disappointed his son he didn't get to raise turned out "weak"). It was only after DBK was possessed that they started coming together as a family and trying to live normally
There was also that one moment in Spider Demon Arc when Wukong was trying to make DBK angry by saying "There's no one left to protect the poor Princess Ironfan" and DBK got really mad and was like: "My wife doesn't need protection!" I love them so much ;-;
I know Demon Bull King and Princess Iron Fan care about their son, but I wish they’d show it more often. It seems they very rarely show affection for him, seeing as he was so amazing that his own father even called him “son”. He seems to need those words of affirmation far more than they realize.
This is true but that’s what I love about this family is they’re wholesome without being perfect which is something we don’t often see in movies and shows I’m glad this show made a family that’s still good and you watch them get better as the show goes on
Well what do u expect? Their demons. They have their own ways of showing affection and love in their own evil ways. Besides Dbk probably hasn’t spent a lot of time with his kid after Wukong sealed him away, making him unable to understand how to be a parent.
@@theflingthing21 they're a dysfunctional family, which isn't a bad thing. they just need to work on their relationship better and they will be an even better family!
@@laraprisma6381 I wouldn't exactly say they're dysfunctional I would however say they made mistakes but they did change over the course of ther series when the three of them stopped seeking power and decided just to live as a peacful family.
I feel like no one mentions this, but DBK comes from a magic era with technology being very limited, and from a culture of aggression and grandstanding. What's the first thing he does when he wakes up? Greets his wife with legit affection and appreciation, and let's his son turn him into a cyborg. No evil person with distrust and power as their foundation would let someone remove their organs and Implant machines and metal in their place. This guy woke up and trusted his half-human son with his life with completely unfamiliar resources. DBK mellowing out over time feels like a natural progression from getting out of a toxic environment and into a healthy one. Even LIF who was all for evil is happy to just live life, as long as its with her hubby. Absolute icons this family is
This is so true I love how realistically wholesome this family is because they’re not perfect and they all still say some bad things to each other but in they end they love each other and they also grow as a family
One correction I'd like to make is that PIF is a Celestial maiden so RS is half demon, half celestial, not half human. Otherwise, I agree absolutely with everything
I imagine bull king says to him "Red, we all know you like this girl, and this girl like you. You don't have to be a villain to make me proud. Whatever makes you happy just take it for yourself."
Yeah we don't get a lot of on-screen family speeches from them but a lot of their wholesomeness is very implied they're wholesome in a realistic way cuz they mess up and sometimes DBK and Ironfan can say thing to Red Son that are damaging but they realize that and they try the best they can and they all love each other
No, I got something better. DBK “Son I know you like this hero girl why you don’t admit it.” Son “I don’t!” DBK “Why?” Son “Because I am a villain and she is a hero, a stupid hero!” DBK “Whatever, I know you like this girl. Wait until your mother hear about this.” Mother “Aww, my demon prince have fallen in love.”
4:01 I believe that was Red Son's car. Not sure why Red Son wasn't more pissed that they jacked his car, unless he has a personal collection of cars, and that car was the one he always used in the early seasons of the show.
Not to mention, he got several glimpses of Mei being the new wielder of the Samadhi Fire, which he already knew what that kind of raw power was capable of, with Red Son being the original wielder of the Samadhi Fire and all.
@@ryanhernandez5632 yeah they all have the same vision and now they’re just a chill family trying to exist in peace but they keep getting attacked and dragged into battles
Of course his parents are disappointed with him. As a baby, Red Son legitimately used to be a world ending threat that THEY were forced to help put down. He must be a constant reminder of what could have been.
@@theflingthing21 They do, but the thing is, they also probably feel directly responsible for his failings, to a more personal level than most parents. They're the ones who did this to him, and they can never take it back. In a way, the disappointment they feel in him, is actually disappointment they have with themselves. Because they were too weak to control their own son, it is their own direct actions that allowed him to become a threat that the whole world could not possibly ignore. Or at least, that's just sorta my take with it. Basically, they have to grow as people a bit and become more comfortable with their own failings before they'll be able to treat Red Son a bit better.
Yeah it’s pretty funny maybe the Samadhi Fire damaged his eyes and that’s why he has glasses cuz he’s also got a scar on his face right underneath his eyes
Ya know, is very difficult to find a villain family who actually help and defend each other like a real family, but it's not impossible to find either😊
@@theflingthing21 yeah, as rare as someone agreed with my side of Wukong and Macaque being actually brothers (If you know or support Shadowpeach you know what I mean)
i was honestly expecting red son to have family issues because they were main antagonists and that maybe overtime his morals would change and he would question it but i honestly fucking love the fact that they’ve become a genuine wholesome family dynamic instead. even if i crave a little angst, its refreshing to see two villain parents that love eachother and their son 😭💞
@@matthewgibson2867 lol yeah I was expecting the story to make it so that Red Son got a redemption arc and then his parents got mad about it but nah they just redeemed the whole family
Let's be honest for a sec, does Doof REALLY count as a villain, or an everyman who has too much money and trauma? We see him generally bumbling around enough that I'd call him an antagonist for sure, but he's too good natured to really be a villain. Give a normie that nonsense, plus a daughter they genuinely love, and we'd probably get Doof
I love the Bull King reasons and the. little sword is moment we see general emotions for his wife and son. It is so beautiful little moments. 1st one we see him flirting with his wife And then when he is broken from the possession of the bone queen, we see that she's worried about him and his face is like like looking what happened to me. And then he's trying to live in my life with the sun trying to at least. And then when his son got away, he was very proud of him. That was just adorable. Really adorable Those faces, the conversation saying see in that his son may have a girlfriend and have a crush on and he's confused about it. And then. in some moment they feel like he's being a good father once in a while and also being a good husband. Honestly, this family is just adorable. You have to agree with that, right?
@@theflingthing21 glad to see i'm not the only one who thinks that red son is to vegeta what wukong is to goku i mean he even has a crush on a genius inventor girl
I love them so much more after finding out about their relationship in jttw- like DBK becomes a good father after being a home wrecker and PIF went on a journey to find herself and now they're a happy little family again
Much as I would like to see them be a bit more affectionate to their son. I mean they’re demons I can’t expect them to have a similar dynamic to normal everyday people
@@painthegreat yeah and they’re still wholesome regardless I love this show cuz they always have the same very realistic and very accurate depictions of family where the parents just do not understand their children and vice versa but they love each other anyway and it’s so cute
I know right it’s so rare you see a wholesome villain family. The only point where they aren’t wholesome is because DBK gets possessed which isn’t his fault
These guys are TRULY my favorite antagonists!! And I'm so happy that they have more than enough appearances in the series. From becoming main Antagonists to more of a chaotic neutral acquaintances to MK and his friends. *Spoiler Warning* And I even loved how Monkie Kid Team, Sun Wukong, Macaque, and the Demon Bull Family hang out on a beach trip, THAT is truly spectacular!! 😁 Plus the Demon Bull King is my favorite character
They’re so good and so unique it’s so rare to see wholesome antagonists let alone wholesome antagonist families I love DBK you know you might like the commentary I made on him in my Monkie Kid commentary video
Yeah they’re all like “we’ll conquer the world later right now let’s just enjoy each other since the father of this family’s been gone for so many years”
Ngl, after seeing DBK family wholesome moments and season 4, there are some big questions I have been wondering. Why did DBK attack the village before got defeated and trapped by Monkey King? Is it because of old grudge from being brotherhood with Monkey King like how Azure Lion trying to attack Wukong? (Macaque might also apply to this same situation) Or did he also know the existence of MK? (Coincidentally, that village will be future of living home for MK)
Yeah honestly I'm hoping at somepoint they dive deeper into DBK's corruption... I definetly think it has something to do with the brotherhood falling apart and if you think about it when the group split Monkie King went his own way and Azure, Peng, and Yellowtusk went their own way leaving DBK and Macaque behind so I'm thinking DBK was probably after revenge on both Monkie King and Azure for leaving him and Macaque behind.
Oh my gosh, I thought I knew the reason, and I just realized that they never confirmed what I thought, it was a headcanon this whole time 😂 I was picturing this whole, "it's not enough to just live in this world, me and my family need to rule it" kinda thing. Cuz, DBK had a family to look after at that point, but instead he went to take over the world??? I pictured this, "I'll take it over for me and my family" thing, but he was overzealous, and didn't think of the consequences of leaving to go take over the world. He didn't think that leaving to go do insane stuff, might leave his family without a father/husband (And we know that PIF and Red Son weren't on the battlefield, so it wasn't just an unfortunate turn out) and then when they went to take over the world again, it almost broke their family _again_ so they were like, "this isn't worth it, I'd rather have my family than power" and backed off. That's what I imagined, I don't know that I explained it well tho
i know this video is about the tv show but i wish DBK's lego set was dont better, i really hate how a lot of modern lego sets that involve buildable creatures give them brick built heads rather than special head molds!
Can you make the same video just without the mei x red son no hate on the ship or anything I just don't ship it and a lot of people might be like oooo a video without shipping oh nvm I'm leaving I still liked and love the video just saying you might get little more likes? And I really want a video of just them like truly perfect video I just wanted to ask please reply to my comment
