This is the great Johnny Haastrup...Leading The Nigerian 70's group Monomono. We loved them so much, singing in Yoruba dialect. The lyrics: "Don't allow them to teach us our own traditions, traditions that we have known since God Almighty created the world...Africans around the world lets get ready for hard work..." Johnny left Nigeria in the early eighties for Germany I believe. Rumour was his mentor Fela Anikulapo kuti advised him against leaving. Now I believe he is a Buddhist. Great talent way before his time. Check out other Nigeria musicians of that epoch: Late Jake Solo of the great Pan African group "Osibisa," Remi Kabaka, Berkeley Ike Jones, Laolu Akins and Mike Odumosu...Gone are the days.
Your country is full of extremely talented and creative people. Nigerian music from the 70’s has brought me a lot of happiness over the past few years.
