I have tons of excellent fitting, well engineered kits likeTamiya, Hasegawa, Eduard, Fine Molds etc. But for the life of me I cannot stop building these old Monogram kits. I absolutely love them. They are so fun to build and stunning if you put the time into them. Nice build!
@InternationalBritishModeler

Thanks Chris greatly appreciated, and yes, I too have a lot of modern well engineered kits, but every now and then, I like to dig out an old kit and try to polish it up a little! Here's the first video update for an old Revell 1/48 Mosquito kit from 1966 that was very basic, that I decided to add a lot of scratch-building to enhance it a little. Cheers 👍🙂🥃🥃 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UAP5Hig9whw.htmlsi=IxdKlfrcAYsKkxTJ

Hello Martin, Here I am sitting up in bed at 08.41 with a beer beside me, as I have just finished night three of four night shifts, and have just watched your build on the very old Typhoon. You have once again done a very good build, my only wish was that you had air brushed both colours, but such is life, apart from that little niggle all I can say is very well done. Take care and I'm off to watch your first part of the 1/24th build. Les
@InternationalBritishModeler
@InternationalBritishModeler 7 лет назад
Hello Les, that's an early beer mate for me, but after a hard days night, it's deserved! happy you like how this old kit turned out mate. Regarding the paint work...I actually brush painted over the grey color, too, because I thought that it looked too blue...I forgot to mention that in the video. I used some very diluted grey paint and brushed it over the blue looking grey to tone it down. So really, the whole of the upper exterior surface is brush painted. Then, at the weathering stage, it gets brush painted again with the oil-paint filter. First part of the 1/24th build won;t be for a while yet mate...I won;t be starting it until the back end of next week....taking a break now to do some jobs around the house. Have a great weekend! Cheers, Martin : )

Stellar build Martin. Great appetizer project before the Big Tiffy build. Always love seeing your masterful paintwork and weathering. The pilot figure looks wonderful....I love populated planes. Seat belts, rocket fuses, and antennas are all sweet details, Now, bring on the Main Course.......hahahahahahahahahaha. Bill

Thanks Bill, greatly appreciated! it's fun scratch-building the smaller details that are not provided. And yes....I can't wait to get stuck into the main course which will begin towards the back end of next week; I have some projects to attend to around the house before my nephew and his girlfriend arrive from the UK on Sunday August 13th. I'm the hat-man mate, I have around 40 to 50 on a couple of top shelves in the closet! They keep my head warm during the very long winters here in this part of the world. Glad you think my Tiffy is okay, I'm trying my best, but, I'm relatively still new to this game...just over 3 years doing it so far...maybe in another 5 years of pushing myself, I'll improve a little more? :P

Looks good Martin! I know these lower tier kits are a little difficult to spruce up, but yours came out very nice. I just came back from Mass.(as in state of } So not only did I just get a chance to read your pm,{ swampy } but also view this vid. A little warm up is perfect for the main event. Good luck with the 1/24 version. Enjoy the weekend my friend - Bob

Thanks Bob, much appreciated! Yes, this has been a nice little warm up for me in terms of trying to get the color shades I wanted for the big one....I still think the Dark Green looks too brown instead of the bronze-green I believe it should be? You have a good weekend, too, mate....I came to bed early tonight, my back went into bad spasm mode, so, propped up with pillows against the head board and neck support. Cheers : )

Fabulous Martin. You only really notice how big it is when you see it parked next to a Spitfire, no wonder pilots were in awe of it when they first met it. Desmond Scott's book is well worth a read.

Thanks Brian, much appreciated...I’ll check out your book recommendation. 👍🙂 If you’d like to watch another video of mine showing a more recent build of a “Tiffy”, then I think you’ll like this more recent build in comparison...it’s highly detailed with a full engine, cockpit, machine gun bays, undercarriage and flaps, far more superior to the Monogram kit that you just watched. Cheers 🙂. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-holTszPyA78.html

That's more proof to show that even very old kits can be turned into beautiful results. I really like how she turned out. I thought the BB was only for the Airfix 1/24 Typhoon, hehehe! Well, I can't wait to see that huge bird. I wish I had the space for a 1/32 aircraft, let alone 1/24 scale! I'll have to stick with 1/48 when I eventually get round to building one of my two kits. Have a great weekend , Martin! Take care. :)
@InternationalBritishModeler
@InternationalBritishModeler 7 лет назад
Thanks Jens, much appreciated....I wish this old kit typing this reply could be turned into a thing of beauty, too! 😜 Last year, at the first mention of this buddy build, it was intended to just be for the 1/24, but then a few months before it began, I decided that it would be too limiting for others that wanted to join in, so I announced that it was for all scales. I look forward to seeing a winged subject from you mate! Have a great weekend, too! Cheers 👍😃
@non-prolific135thscalemode7
@non-prolific135thscalemode7 7 лет назад
LOL!!! I think it was a wise decision to open the BB for all scales, but quite honestly, I'm most looking forward to seeing the giant kits! What a fantastic scale with unlimited opportunities for extra detailing! At the moment I don't feel comfy enough to build an aircraft. It's mainly because of my still rather limited airbrush skills, but also because of the plans I have for the Italeri Me 262. I want to do a maintenance scene with all the access panels for one jet engine open. You know that the kit doesn't provide a jet engine and since you know me... Well, I already found a couple of pics of the actual thing. Maybe I should do the Revell Fw 190 first, hehehe! Cheers :)
@InternationalBritishModeler
@InternationalBritishModeler 7 лет назад
I do know you, and damn, I'm already "chomping at the bit" at the thought of you scratch-building an engine for your Me 262 and incorporating it into a maintenance scene....I hope that's not too far into the future?! Whichever one you do...both ideas come with lots of details! Cheers : )

I have this kit but over the years I've lost the instructions manual if its possible could you send me a close up photos of the instructions
@InternationalBritishModeler
@InternationalBritishModeler 6 лет назад
Hey Graham, sorry for the slow response, but been very busy with work. Regarding the instruction manual; When I complete a kit, the only thing I save are the spare decals and spare parts that I put into two separate boxes. The kit box, instructions and scrap runners are thrown out to make room on my shelf for a new kit box to be placed. If you're a member of an online Modeling forum, put a request out on there to see if anyone can help you put, they usually have thousands of members. Good luck : )
