Thank you TheSalmonellaPlace, now I got a better understanding of monomers and polymers! :)

A monomer is not an atom. A monomer is a molecule. Think of a monomer as a brick you use to build a house. A polymer is the house with many bricks. Now the brick (monomer) is comprised of smaller particles, which in the example of monomers we would say is the atoms.

wait so any alkene is a monomer then? If it is smaller versions of polymer?

are monomers=monosacchrides and polymers=disscarrides and polyscchrides

Sorry for delayed reply. monomer is a general term for a small subunit while monosacchrides are specifically used for small subunits of carbohydrates {glucose, fructose} , of course same goes for polysacchrides

A lot of blue balls doesn’t only apply to polymers but also any biology class room

I think I am still a little confuse. Polymers and Monomers ( both are molecules ) , however Polymers are made of many compressed Monomers. Monomer can hold 4 to 10 atoms ( this is why a Monomer is also a atom). what do you call many monomers bonded together as a chain ???

Why do you say "mon-i-mer" instead of "mon-o-mer"? --> You pointed out that "Mon-o" means "one," yet you change the "o" to "i" - Very distracting for me to listen. Maybe it just me.
