Hey everyone, I’ve never used a C02 laser before but this works great. I’m still working on some settings so if any of you know how to set the settings properly in lightburn AND on the machine feel free to let me know. Enjoy and I’ll see you in the next one 👍🏻

Hello there -- It has been approximately 11 months since you acquired the machine. I'm curious, how is it performing? How long can we expect it to remain functional tube lifespan-wise?

This Monport laser has added an invaluable dimension to my creative endeavors. Its versatility has allowed me to explore countless materials, from wood and acrylic to leather and glass. The results have been nothing short of stunning, with crisp lines, vibrant colors, and intricate patterns that have left both myself and my clients in awe. I love it!

This one is great! I've been using it for a few weeks now, and I've been able to create some really cool projects on wood, acrylic, and even leather - It's a versatile machine that's definitely exceeded my expectations!

Looks like a decent laser. Good price point, but as you stated, a little small for my wishes. Great review, thanks!

I agree, the size is really the only thing that I’m sure a lot of people will agree with.

wait a second 4:10 did the laser just trace the border of the area it's going to be working in, to confirm that's where you want the laser to operate? That's sick, if so!

This should engrave fine, you need to buy 2 additional lenses for optimal use. This probably has the mid range which is ok for engraving but not best. You also need to adjust the height for optimal use per material per lense. And I'm sure you realized, you need air assist to stop the burns. A customization there. For the manual power, you should keep it to max, and only use LB to control it. All that controller does is adjust the output power manually, as cheaper sw doesn'tallow power control, and its not using a ruiada which has power control for manual tests and alignment. So if you have it set to 50% and lb 5o% you are only getting around 20-25. Optimal tube temp btw is 14-22c. If you get hotter or cooler it will work, but your laser power will drop.

@@ArtByAdrock np, it's a big step going from diode to co2. So much more to learn. Search for co2 ramp test, if you haven't already. It will show you how to properly set the best height. Since you don't have a movable z you probably need standoffs, though I have seen a manual adjustable z for those size lasers that you put under the removable bed. You can get air assist nozzles on Amazon for a dime a dozen for those machines. If you don't like noise atomstak has a small compressor which is for diode lasers but will work on those too (a bit pricey for what itkis though) . It is small but sufficient enough for 30w or less power. 40 watt is your max so you shouldn't go above 30 to keep your tube in good health. Personally I use a pond air supply. Also if you haven't validated your mirror alignment after shipping, there are many videos on that. Usually the height and mirrors is what causes poor engraving.

Adrock, I'm very new to this. Just curious if you know of something BIGGER that can work with larger pieces of wood (bigger cut size). Any you recommend, that are still budget friendly? Thanks

If I am not misunderstanding, the main reason for the C02 laser versus the diode laser is speed? Basically a stronger laser makes for less working time? Is there an advantage to the "crispness" of the cuts or engravings as well?

Also co2 can cut transparent acrylic meanwhile diode not. It’s possible to grab transparent materials with some workarounds but if you need to do tansparent materials co2 is the way…

Did you need to calibrate the lens before starting or come set ready from monport? I ask because usually vendors like vevor send these requiring setting all before anything…

Mine was already set but it’s possible during shipping that the lenses could get shifted.

They must've listened to people, my USB port is perfectly cut and flush with the wall of the machine, like it would be on the side of a laptop. The size and weight are an issue for me since it gets cold in my garage in the winter and the ambient temperature shouldn't go below 40f. Also you (and I) got the wrong manual. There's a PDF manual from their website that goes into Lightburn and has the correct picture on the cover.

I've been trying to research machines even though I still don't know what I'm doing. The only thing I'm sure of is (to me) those engravings didn't look right because they were all either too light or too dark. I'm looking to make necklaces out of children's drawings.

You will have to do a lot of experimenting - no matter which Laser you end up with. There is no such thing as standard settings. Each material and laser will give you different results. Monport & OMTech are both good. I went with OMTech, as there is much more information / videos available on use on modification.

OMTECH AND MONPORT sell the exact same machine . No quality control, both sent me broken equipment that frustrating weeks with their tech support could not remedy and neither would refund my money, I had to pull back charges on my cc. Spare yourself alot of frustration. Apparently the only ones that work are the machines they provide for free for reviews and set up videos for promotion

I don't understand it. Everybody wants to get 'FREE' Lasers by giving supposed "unbiased" reviews. How does one give an "unbiased" review when they are given the Laser for FREE, and how does one give an "accurate" review when one doesn't know anything, or very little, about the Laser being reviewed. It does not look like anyone is happy with just having one or two Lasers, becoming knowledgeable (or an expert) on them, and then be able to help others with problems & issues, as the majority of "Customer Service", from the factory, is either nonexistent or very bad (at best).
@toddo3591

Apparently giving this junk away is the ONLY way they can generate ANY positive reviews. The company doesn't even know how to make this crap work.
