You dont get it. Police dont bother arresting homeless people no matter what they do these days but they would be quick to arrest someone who pays the bills because they can also pay the fines.

Vice even interviewed young people who said it feels like CA wants them to be homeless because they can't get jobs and no one wants to rent to anyone because of squatters and holdouts during the pandemic. One guy was quoted as saying "They give us $350 in food stamps and $800 in cash I can just Amazon anything I need and my phone is from Obama"...Having real estate groups backed by the Chinese Gov't buying up property DOESEN'T help either

I've lived in Monrovia for 27 years, I live 2 blocks away from this tragedy. I've walked that trail many times , I never really feared the homeless camps, when I would pass by them I would give them a head nod and a how's it going? Never had any issues, but I'm always on guard, and ready to defend myself. What a damn shame, R.I.P. to this man who lost his life. Don't know what the answer is to the homeless situation, all I know is I wouldn't want my loved ones walking around these camps.
What year did u notice the homeless really building up? Like a turning point year? I remember as far back as 94' seeing em here and there. But around my specific city... around 2015ish was the turning point
We lived in Monrovia for ten years. The southern section of the city had problems. The homeless would often hang out at library park, the local PD was good about stopping in a couple times a day to make contact with them.
There's another encampment nearby off the 605/210 next to the santa fe dam where someone was shot and killed a week or two ago. They often clear out the encampment, but the transcients always come back.

My heart hurts for this mother and her children. This family did all the right things in life to have it stolen from them by someone who had nothing and nothing to lose.
Our city officials are truly dropping the ball in regards to the homeless issues and their crimes against good honest citizens.🙏🏽and their definitely not protecting our families or communities.🤬 Something must be done 💯🤬💯
My heart breaks for this widow and the children who will grow up without a father. There are far too many stories like this in our county and I will do everything I can to reduce this crime and violence.

Thank you, Newsom. He’s made it so appealing to transients that they’ve come to California in droves. Nearly 1/3 of our country’s homeless are now in California. My heart goes out to this poor family.
