Dangs, a hidden gem in the sahyadris, is one of the most dense forests of Gujarat. Location in the southern most part of Gujarat, Dang is the beginning of westernghats, one of the most biodiverse regions of the world. Dangs receives one of the highest rainfall in Gujarat and monsoons are the best time to enjoy the mesmerizing beauty of Dangs.
By end of June, the monsoon clouds cover the sky of Dangs. Rain starts from July and continues till august end. There are times when it rains continuously for a few days.
Hundreds of small streams start to flow from the forest floors, converging into small rivers and finally meeting two major rivers of Dangs: Ambika and Purna. These rivers take a furious but amazingly beautiful form with gushing water, dragging everything that comes in their way. Hundreds of waterfalls come to life.
Rain also means time to sow new crops. Although modernization has reached most of Gujarat, Dangs is still very organic and traditional ways of farming can be seen here more often.
The forests become lush green and the villages get a fresh look. Soon the farms become green with growing crops of paddy.
One must visit this amazing part of Gujrat in monsoons to experience the mesmerizing forests, lush green organic fields, amazing waterfalls and scenic drives along the rivers and forests.
