We had a great day swordfishing and then on our way home to Bud n' Mary's Marina we found a bunch of dolphin (mahi). After catching some schoolies and small gaffers we find a big bull! The fish decides to eat a squid (3 of them technically) and the fight is on! After a few minutes Bean gets a gaff shot and puts the big bull in the boat! It's the biggest dolphin I've seen in 3 years! Back at the marina we fillet him up and then take some home to cook!

For all of those watching who don’t know why you gaffe the fish in the head #1 it preserves the filets and prevents any wasted meat and #2 has the potential to “stone” the fish and instantly put it out of its misery. Love the video as always Capt. Nick and big s/o to the Bean for the gaffe work.

Nick that was a really good one. I got so into it that I was tired when it was time to go home. I even showed my wife Carol what we caught. One day I hope I can get to go out and have a day like that. Tell Sara to keep feeding that little man she is carrying. Sadie is growing so fast, she is a sweetheart. Yeah they're overfished now. Commercial guys have figured out how to catch hundreds of tons off the Carolinas every year plus the charter captains used to be able to sell them and would keep all they could sell. Plus there are thousands more boats fishing each day than there were back then...the herd is thin!
